This also seems to happen sometimes when I am using totalmedia, the tv software that came with my freecom dvb-t usb stick.
The latest specific incident was at or near the end of a quick record. Whilst recording I was browsing the internet, and when the recording was due to end (or at the actual end - I'm not sure of the time), my pc just froze up. I couldn't move the mouse or press any keys with any effect. alt+ctrl+del didn't work so I turned the computer off using the power on/off button on the pc itself.
This has happended a couple of times before (these times I haven't been recording.)
my pc is win xp, sp2, athlon xp 2500+ 1.83ghz, 512mb ram.
Windows has been updating itself over the last few days and now I get no picture from any tuner card and cannot even play video in GBPVR. I get the same sort of garbled picture on a PVR500, NovaT and when watching recorded video.
Video from any source shows the sort of screen corruption when a DVB channel is encrypted and you just see a completely garbled picture. (I have no MDPlugins in use and my channles and test video is not encrypted)
Other applications seem to work fine. I can play video and view DVB sources from other apps (eg DVBViewer) without problems. Is a recent change to directshow likely to have upset GBPVR?
Not sure what areas of the Northern Hemisphere can see this at the moment but just West of London the sky is totally cloud free - possibly the best view of a lunar eclipse I've seen.
Get off the computer and go and stick your head out of the window.
Some other observations with alpha dongle 02-03-2007 & GBPVR 99.5
Have a D-type MVP (europe model, i.e. with scart).
Audio/video setting are set to PAL.
1) When playing a recorded movie, I am not able to fast forward : skip (>| button on 45-remote) & ffwd (>> button on 45-remote) do not work. Ffwd is config'd in GBPVR to short skips.
2) When playing a recorded movie, on the bottom of the screen, some greenish blocks are playing around. Looks like the MVP is not able to keep up with the speed of refreshing the screen. When playing with the Hauppauge dongle, the video plays flawlessy.
Hope these observations helps to improve the mvpmc-dongle
First of all, I think you're doing a wonderfull job in making the mvpmc-dongle available for GBPVR-users. Keep up the good work.
Just a few observations (see also other post).
I am using the alpha-build of 02-03-2007 & GBPVR 99.5
Have a D-type MVP (europe model, i.e. with scart)
with no dongle.bin.config available I get the full menu, i.e. MythTV, Replay, etc etc. Emulation mode is working, i.e. I can get connected to the GBPVR-server.
When using a dongle.bin.config on a "mvpmc" share, I get a short mvpmc-menu only containing the items filemenu, settings, about, emulation mode and reboot. In this case however, I can not get connected to the GBPVR-server.
dongle.bin.config contains the following line
mvpmc --startup emulate --emulate 192.168.5.2
In all cases, /etc/tftp.config contains TFTP=192.168.5.2
The GBPVR-server is located on 192.168.5.2
I would like to see a list of all the movies that are in the Guide.
This list would be sorted by start time and channel.
So as an example something lilke
Monday:
9:00 AM - Channel aa Movie Title
9:00 AM - Channel bb Move Title 1
9:30 AM - Channel cc Movie Title 2
10:00AM - Channel dd Movie Title 3
.
.
.
Tuesday
.
.
.
and so on.
That way one can look at a glance and figure out what movies are available for the day. It's too hard to search through the guide even with the genre filter on.
Via RSS or displayed within EWA either would work great.
I guess this could be expanded to make a list of any genre type but initially just movies would be great.
