There is a lot more information in xmltv epg guide than is saved by gbpvr e.g.

<title lang="en">Film:Runaway Jury ***</title>
<desc lang="en">Like a number of its predecessors, this John Grisham adaptation is blessed with a well-known cast of the great (Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman) and the good (John Cusack, Rachel Weisz). A New Orleans woman files a suit against the gun industry (interestingly, it was the tobacco conglomerates in Grisham's original novel) after her husband is murdered during a madman's shooting spree. Unfortunately for the widow and her idealistic lawyer Wendall Rohr (Hoffman), the firearms lobby has hired ruthless "jury consultant" Rankin Fitch (Hackman) and his crack surveillance team to ensure the people chosen are predisposed to the "right" verdict. But, before you can say 12 Angry Men, into the mix comes John Cusack as a juror who is not at all that he seems. Cue machinations, manipulations, twists and counter-twists that are guaranteed to keep the audience off balance. Director Gary Fleder - who made a name for himself with Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead - has produced a well-crafted and efficient Hollywood entertainment here, despite the odd implausible plot point and simplistic central message (guns are bad, principles are good). The big disappointment has to be the lacklustre head-to-head between acting giants Hoffman and Hackman that promised much but fell far short of the must-see Pacino/De Niro eyeballer in Michael Mann's Heat. </desc>

Unfortunately most of this informatin is lost in gbpvr, including the programme description which is truncated. I understand this is probably done to make the description fit in dialogue box on screen, but it would be nice to save all the info and have an option to switch from the truncated version to the full version. All other info such as actors etc. would be good also.
The age rating would be very useful to help stop the kids watching unsuitable content.
Different epg grabbers will probably grab different info, so may just have to dump everything onto the screen.
The mechanics are simple...
The Title of the Show, and It's Episodic Subtitle are prepared for URL,
They are submitted to Google, with the restriction to only Search TV.COM,
And finally, It uses the "I'm Feeling Lucky" Submit Button, to directly link
to the most relevant hit...
I'm hesitant to say it is 100%, But After several days of just basic use,
It has yet to Misdirect me...
I have always arrived at the proper Episode page...
For the curious,
I used Google specifically because TV.COM's search engine
Does NOT search by Episode Title.
Granted, this will not do much for TV broadcast in Non-English.
TV.COM is obviously an American WebSite catering to American TV.
Tho there is a great deal of British and Canadian TV...
The most immediate thing it did for me, was help my wife and I determine,
If we have seen episodes before, ( Law & Orders [all flavors] = Her;
Outer Limits and Twilight Zone [old and new] = Me )...
The longer descriptions and viewer ratings are very helpful particularly
for Anthology type Shows.
I hope someone finds this useful...
Thanks Again to GB-PVR, and the EWA Team...

It would be nice to have a tick box somewhere on the config screens to disable the recording of duplicate episodes. The name and subtitle would have to be used to check if the same program has already been recorded.
The main use of this would be where all episodes of a program are automatically recorded. Some programs are repeated regularly. Maybe it should only apply to those programs which are only scheduled automatically.
It would be nice to change the default gbpvr filename to include the title and subtitle to make it easy to check for duplicate recordings in windows explorer.
It would also make it easier when transfering converted files to other devices where the filename is the main indicator of the file content. The date and time will probably still have to be used to give unique names to duplicate programs.
I'm trying to send the tv out signal to my new Magnavox TV. My video card (geforce 7600GS) has DVI out but on the TV that is the one thing that I don't have. I used a DVI to HDMI adapter cable to send the signal to the TV and if the TV is on my system detects that there is another display present but nothing shows up on the TV. I'm at a little bit of a loss to even know how to troubleshoot this so any help would be appreciated.
I bought this a few weeks ago, then I discovered GB-PVR.
It wasn't in the default list of devices, so I edited the BDA.INI file with the appropriate Filter entries. GB-PVR then was able to detect it.
My problem is, it won't tune any channels. It sits there for about 30 minutes trying channels 1 - 57 but at the end says no channels were found. I know the device is working because the software that came with the card works with it, and also TSReader Lite can tune it.
Any suggestions on what I should do to get it to tune channels?
I am finding that after a reboot I am getting corrupt video from composite input. I see a static picture and all liveTV is gray and lots of flicker.
I have uninstalled GBPVR and completely removed the DIR and reinstalled the lastest drivers. Is there anything else I can do or has anybody seen anything like this before??
I was working on getting the PVR150 Hauppauge remote working with GB-PVR and on one occasion I closed GB-PVR with the splash screen maximized. Now I can only have it maximized or minimized and nothing in between.
I for a while I have been getting the following error when I try and update my EPG through Zap2it. I have been looking through the forums and haven't found anything that will fix it. I have reinstalled the .net framework a couple of times and done a couple of other things to no avail. If you need any more information than let me know.
