blue magically appears in my OSD
Posted by: Ted the Penguin - 2006-12-15, 02:49 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (5)

ok so I have sassari, but its my custom red version, meaning I dont want to see any blue in my skin. whenever the OSD comes up there is blue around the edges or under transparent parts.

ok now if you have taken a look at sassari, everything is semi transparent, and it seems when it gets too transparent (shadow around edges) GB-PVR adds a blue background. is this a limitation of the renderer? or some other type of bug where it doesnt handle transparency in the OSD properly?

yeah I know pictures would help, but I didnt have the presence of mind to take a screenshot last night.

  Future search and add....
Posted by: madcat - 2006-12-15, 02:06 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (5)

I'm not totally sure how to define this one, so bear with me. Also, for sure the urgency is low, so well down in Sub's list, but still:

I did a fresh install, and lost all my schedules. It wasn't a huge issue (only few), so I didn't bother backing up DB, etc (and I wanted real fresh, no using old DB and config).

However, the issue is that i can't now add the schedules, because we are in the dry season (many series are not airing, or worse, airing re-runs). So, let's take "Prison Break" for example. I can't add it to the schedule.

So - the feature would be, something like a search, and whenever the first time this search returns results, add this one as a schedule.

Am I making any sense?

  Freecom DVB-T (x2) question
Posted by: JononE - 2006-12-15, 02:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hello!

If you can offer some help with this problem it would be greatly appreciated!

I have got two Freecom DVB-T USB sticks, and installed one perfectly. It's mapped about 22 channels, records and displays live TV. I have added the second USB, by adding capture device, using the same XML file (EPG) information and calling the device number 2. When I save the config and then go back into the config to check the settings, only 1 USB stick is displayed in the capture sources.

Any help with this ? I should be able to watch and record at the same time by adding a second Freecom card shouldn't I ?

Cheers!!!
Jon

  PowerControl Utility issue
Posted by: dfdario - 2006-12-15, 10:52 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (5)

I tested and found useful. Very powerful utility which substitute a lot of external application and of course their tuning phase.
After a while I’ve found that my PC goes hibernate even if comskip is running or while watching TV due to the fact that CPU load remains steady to 0% with some spots to 1.5%.
While for comskip the workaround is easy it wouldn’t be the same for the rest.

  SECAM and PVR150
Posted by: lift - 2006-12-15, 10:26 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I first like to congratulate sub for this very good software! Thanks!

I live in France were stand SECAM L tv format for standard by-the-air broadcast.

I get a PVR150 to perfectly stick to GBPVR but I can not manage to get a good image for recording (it works fine with wintv2000). In GBPVR config, I add a PVR150-Tuner set to France. I use last drivers from hauppauge.

It is a bit confusing : if I start from off my computer, when I go to live TV, the image is OK which means that secam is well used, but once I start recording (use timeshifting or recording tv), gbpvr switch to PAL standard with blury blue-grey-pink image, and till I do not restart my computer, GBPVR keeps PAL standard even when I go back to live TV! If I close gbpvr and launch wintv2000, wintv works fine with secam, then if I launch back GBPVR, it still remains in PAL!

Then, I read tons of forum threads dealing with secam problem and GBPVR, so my question is : is there a solution for this problem? what is the ForceStandard value for SECAM L?

Thanks in advance.

PS : I ll leave my computer for 10 days from tomorrow, so I ll be able to answer thereafter.

ATI Radeon 9600 Pro vs nVidia A6200 TDH
Posted by: hasso - 2006-12-15, 08:10 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (12)

Just a quick note regarding my experience with the nVida 6200 card. This card had 128 Megs and I initially bought it because it had HDTV output and was fanless. Well, since I installed it I have been pretty disappointed.

Using any VMR caused tearing during camera pans or sideways motion. The higher the VMR selected, the greater the tearing, with custom rendering having the most. I had to use custom rendering because using VMR7 or 9 would cause the picture sizing issue discussed elsewhere. Overlay worked better but I like the transparent OSD and smoother rendering of VMR. I fiddled quite a bit over a week trying to get non-tearing playback. I think I tried every suggestion in the forum without any success.

So took out the 6200 and replaced it with a Radeon 9600 Pro from Gigabyte. I chose it because it wasn't nVidia, had 256 Megs, and was still fanless. Well, I am now a happy camper. No tearing, smooth playback and great picture.

Your mileage may vary, but if you are having tearing issues and are tired of dealing with the picture resizing issue that nVidia doesn't seem to be fixing, then I'd go for the Gigabyte Radeon 9600 Pro (GV-R96P256D). About NZ$140, probably a lot less elsewhere. Smile

  PVR150 vs PVR150 MCE
Posted by: payaso - 2006-12-15, 06:15 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

Hey, Does anyone know if there are any other major differences in the PVR150 and the PVR150 MCE? At a glance the MCE comes with the MCE remote rather than the regular hauppauge remote (of which I have two already), and the MCE has an FM Tuner (a feature that I don't really care about). Does anyone know if these two cards compatible (driver conflicts)? Will the MCE run under XP Pro? The requirements specifically states that you need MCE, but I wondered if that isn't just some marketing ploy. Will the non MCE card work on MCE if I upgrade to that? I just bought a second PVR150 today, but afterwards I got wondering if I should have gone with the MCE card just in case I need the MCE remote at some point, rather than getting a third Hauppauge remote (to sit in the drawer along side the second one).

Sorry, I am sure that all of this is posted somewhere in the forum already. I am usually pretty good about doing my homework to avoid reposts, but I only had mere seconds to look tonight and the sale ends tomorrow.

Problems with scheduling Smallville as a reoccuring program
Posted by: TuckerTFT - 2006-12-15, 06:06 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I installed version 98.13 last week. I am all of a sudden having an issue where when I try to schedule Smallville weekly in the same time slot NONE of it shows up in the Reoccurring list, BUT none of the episodes gets scheduled as evidenced by no occurrence of Smallville in the Pending list. Additionally, after having scheduled this from the TV Guide, the item does not turn RED.

I then tried deleting the Reoccurring entry and within the TV Guide re-scheduling, this time choose all episodes on this channel (not necessarily in the same time slot). Again, I don't get the red highlight on it, but I do get episodes showing in the Pending list .. HOWEVER, they are re-run episodes occurring in all other time slots and NOT in the time slot I am actually wanting to record (7 - 8 PM on Thursdays).

In order to see if this was a problem with just Smallville in this particular time slot, I went into the Guide and chose King of Queens and all daily episodes in this time slot. I did get the red highlight on all episodes and the daily episodes do show up in the Pending listing.

It appears to me that there is an issue with the zap2it EPG listing for Smallville for the Thursday 7 - 8 PM weekly time slot that is preventing GBPVR from recognizing it as being what I am requesting. For now I am working around the issue with a manually scheduled weekly recording for the time slot and channel (by the way, it would be great to have a padding setting for the Manual Rec).

Any ideas???

  SRT Files on AVI files
Posted by: psycik - 2006-12-15, 04:24 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I've been playing with SRT files cos the encoding program I use for XviDs add captions as like pictures - so unlike a DVD they can't be turned off.

So I rememberd GBPVR has an internal SRT viewer and so tried re-encoding an xvid without captions and then put an external srt file on the file system. Now this kind of works and you get the big text down the bottom that is selectable with Ctrl-Y. But there's also a smaller version of the same captions sitting higher up, that I cannot get rid of.

Is this expected?
