original file not deleting after transcoding
Posted by: mixedup - 2006-12-13, 11:35 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi,

I've got GB-PVR setup to transcode at night to AVI and then delete the original, however whilst the transcoding is working it is NOT deleting the original file.

The logs seems to indicate GB-PVR thinks it is deleting the files (see below).

Any ideas?

External Recorder, XMLTV, VideoLAN, and RemoteTV
Posted by: gnutech - 2006-12-13, 11:33 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (1)

I was wondering if anyone has gotten Remote TV to work with External Record, VideoLAN, and a Remote TV application?

I have been trying to figure out a way to get GB-PVR to play a Remote TV MPEG-4 stream from another location over my PVR. For instance, streaming a movie channel from an external location using VideoLAN (MPEG-4 Stream) to a GB-PVR Capture Source using External Recorder and XMLTV (EPG). External Recorder would be configured with something like RemoteTVClient (http://anuragworld.googlepages.com/remotetv) or XBMC Client (http://www.jtvlan.org/), which would accept channel information from the command line. This way each night XMLTV would update with the movie channel information and then when I selected the channel from GB-PVR's TV Guide it would startup the External Recorder with the RemoteTV Client that would contact the VideoLAN MPEG-4 Stream and allow me to view the remote stream. If there was more than one channel in the XMLTV EPG, I could also change channels on the remote capture card through GP-PVR's TV Guide with the RemoteTV Client.

Has anyone been able to get something like this to work? I know Ubustream can do something simular with Internet Streams. Can Ubustream do this with a remote capture card stream (i.e., change channels, etc)?

Your thoughts and comments are appreciated.

Respectfully,

Gary

  Problem playing Ubustream over MediaMVP
Posted by: gnutech - 2006-12-13, 11:08 AM - Forum: UbuStream, Web Radio and Universe - Replies (15)

I have followed jbyram2's guide on setting up Ubustream for use with the MediaMVP. It works great under channel mode on my computer, but when I try to stream it using channel mode over the MediaMVP it acts like it is trying to do it (black screen) then it returns to the channel listings (I'm using the TV Listings plugin).

I have also noticed that when I stop the Ubustream on my computer that a new instance of vlc is opened and then close, but the existing instance of vlc remains. I thought configuring VLC with settings->preferences advanced, check advanced options and select "allow only one running instance" and "allow only one running instance when started from a file" keep "use a plugins cache" checked. all others on that page unchecked. along with the "--one-instance vlc:quit" options in External Recorder were suppose to stop vlc.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Respectfully,

Gary

  Video Playback Loop
Posted by: maeday - 2006-12-13, 09:21 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi guys just had a few posts with sub and i believe he mentioned for me to post my question in here.

My probblem was running a series of videos with a news ticker tape over the top of the video, but they couldnt help me with it. However gbpvr and the rss news reader plugin has given me the functunality needed to achieve my goal. (A scrolling tickertape allong the bottom of the screen during video playback)

The project that i am working on requires a TV to display a series of promotional videos for my school with daily events running allong the screen in the tickertape.

What im looking for is a plugin with the ability to play all the videos in a folder and then loop the playlist so that it plays continuosly. (at least 10 hours but prefer indefinately)

Do any plugins out there currently support this? or would it be possible to easily make/modify one?

im more than willing to send any files through or check any files that need checking, just give me a holler. ill check this site errr frequently?

EDIT: oh and btw i use the "Play all" button to play 15 or so videos

  Recurring Recordings - time
Posted by: psycik - 2006-12-13, 08:05 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

If i have multiple recurring recordings for the same thing, is there a way of telling (looking at the recording screen) which one is set for which time?

I guess I'm asking if the recording skin file can display some extra variables.

Video Archive to use media/art folder
Posted by: Carlito - 2006-12-13, 06:49 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (2)

Is there any way we could get the video archive plugin to use the media/art folder (or any folder for that matter) for show images? I already have downloaded many images using my Program Image Tool and would like to be able to use these when viewing shows in video archive plugin.

Thanks

Newbie problem GB-PVR crashes in Live tv and record
Posted by: gbscobel - 2006-12-13, 04:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I'm hoping this is simply my lack of knowledge in this technology but I just upgraded by computer to a new Intel motherboard and 631 processor, PNY Verto Geforce 6800 video card and a Hauppage pvr350 card. The card installed fine and I'm able to watch Live tv and seemed to be able to record using the Win2000 program that came with the card. However, I found whenever I tried to play back any of the recorded videos, Windows Media Player and/or Win2000 would completely crash on me.

Based on this, I hoped that GB-PVR would work better so I installed and, I believe, have it configured properly. I got all the channels to download from Zap2It but everytime I try to watch LiveTV or Record anything, GB-PVR simply crashes with no explanation. I'm just not that conversant in this application of tv cards in general and I'm really hoping somebody can offer some assistance bases on the kinds of problems I'm having and that there might be some troubleshooting tips I can use to try and get this working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm attaching every log file I can find associated with your software.

  Strange and Annoying Problems w/GB-PVR
Posted by: cubdukat - 2006-12-13, 04:54 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

I have posted my latest round of problems in the Hardware forum, but I then realized that most of my problems are actually software-related, so I'm going to try posting in a more appropriate place.

Last week I picked up a VBox Cat's Eye USB tuner to use with GB-PVR, but to date it has not only refused to work reliably, but most of the time, it refuses to work altogether.

First of all, despite what program I select on whatever channel it appears on, it only records one channel. For instance, I set it to record on channel 2, it records 5. I set it to record 7, it records 5--you get the idea, right?

Second, I have tried small test recordings and when it actually does record something, it will give me a .ts file with the right file size but no PID's. I have the mux settings set to Transport Stream, but I have tried setting it to Cyberlink. One strange thing--when I run Mux Checker, it tells me I have no muxer at all, yet I have Power DVD 5 OEM installed, so it should pick both its muxer and the video/audio decoders up, but it doesn't.

Finally, and most vexing, I can't even record anything at all because it tells me that the recording would conflict with a pending recording--but there isn't a pending recording. It doesn't even allow me to cancel the pending recording that is allegedly causing the problem. I have tried uninstalling the program, deleting the directory it's installed to and removing all entries of it from the registry with RegClean, but upon reinstallation, I have the same problem all over again.

I won't even get into the problem of not being to watch live TV with it, because right now that's the least of my problems.

Enclosed are all of the logs I have. I really need any help I can get with this. I don't want to send $70 for BeyondTV, but right now I'm not left with very many options.

P. S. : Scratch the problem about not having a muxer installed. I just installed the demo version of Intervideo's WinDVR, and the Mux Checker picked it right up.

  Video Playback Loop

Ok first let me try and butter you all up by telling you all that this program is great and has been my saviour Big Grin

Ive been in contact with hauppage in the UK and the US whom unofficialy directed me to your project/community here.

Recentley ive been having problems with the screensaver activating and I found the cause to be how I implemented the ticker tape (see below for how). However something has just recently come to my attention. Unlike the hauppage software gbpvr wont automaticaly loop its playlist and returns to the menu. What I need is to be able to run the videos continuously.

Have i overlooked something? or are any of you able to help me out? as i realy need this to happen. ive also done numerous searches through the code and these forums for references of "loop" "repeat" "playlist".

..::How ticker tape is implemented in theory::..
1. OK well the rss plugin was installed.
2. rss news page installed to a local phpbb forum
3. added local rss feed and removed remote rss sites
4. checked, confirmed to work
5. applied the rss tickertape to the main menu
6. modified the blue skin so that the main menu showed the tickertape and a larger version of the display window (practicaly full screen)
7. played videos, press menu button to show the tickertape
8. disabled screensaver to stop screensaver activation

im more than willing to send any files through or check any files that need checking, just give me a holler. ill check this site errr frequently? :p

MusicLibrary2 doesn't work after installing ffdshow codecs
Posted by: h00ch - 2006-12-13, 03:20 AM - Forum: Recording2, MusicLibrary2, SystemStatus Support - Replies (19)

MusicLibrary2 was working fine until I installed the ffdshow codec to be able to watch DivX movies through GBPVR. Now when I select the MusicLibrary2 button from the main menu, I get an error "Parameter is not valid.". If I wait 30 seconds, a playlist is created and music starts playing (like normal) but all I see is the GBPVR main menu. Attached are my logs...

Edit:
... I just tried un-installing the ffdshow codecs and I still have the same error.
