Sometimes while sifting through my recordings, I'll select one that I've already looked at, and I'll get a blank screen. This doesn't happen EVERY time, either.
Sound is either hit or miss too when that happens. Sometimes I can hear it playing, other times, no sound, and it's acting like it's frozen.
I'm not to the point of hiding Windows until I can figure this out, so I'm hoping this is an easy fix. It's been QUITE a while since I had to zip any logs up and post 'em here, so please be gentle and tell me what the name of the logfile is that I have to zip up. I seem to remember there being several of the same name but with numbers after them, and not being able to figure out which one to zip.
Is this something where several log files might also help to look at?
Oh yeah, using 98.13 as well, and the Plain Jane skin, and I'm not certain if this is related to general support or skin support.
I'm a noob and have GBPVR working pretty well with a couple of add-on plugins (weather, theater listings etc.) but I have some gripes about performance which may not be GBPVR related.
It seems every so often GBPVR becomes non-responsive, Does nothing but play the current recording/live TV etc. then after a period of time (varies from seconds to minutes) the remote commands (FF, RW, pause, play etc) all get executed at once. (almost like they're sitting in a que) And on even rarer occasions the playback freezes when trying to skip forward or back.
I checked the task manager and my CPU usage is low ~20-30% but my memory usage seems kind of high ~ 400+MB There are also quite a few duplicate processes running such as svchost & explorer, eating up a fair bit of memory. Sometimes but not always these non-responsive periods occur when the hard drive is really crankin away. Perhaps its doing a memory dump/swap.
Below are my system specs. This is a dedicated GBPVR box.
Win XP Home
1.6GHZ Pentium 4
512MB ram
120GB HD (about 80-90GB free)
PVR-150 with IR blaster to sattelite box
Nvidia 5200 S-video out to TV
Edit: latest version 9813
The tray only shows drivers running for the sound and video cards, GBPVR service, IR control, the clock, and volume control
I've got the Firefly remote working with GB-PVR ... mostly.
Sometimes, the buttons stop controlling GB-PVR. Actually, I should say "most of" the buttons stop controlling GB-PVR. For some weird reason, the stop button always works.
So, I'm watching Live TV. And the channel +/- buttons stop functioning. But if I click stop, it gets me back to the main menu.
Or, I'm watching a video from my video library, and nothing works. But if I alt-tab out of GB-PVR and back to GB-PVR, everything magically starts working again.
When I tried to install that, it couldn't find the executable it was trying to disable. In any case, that executable isn't running, so it's not stealing focus.
In all cases, when I click a button, the Firefly displays "GBPVR Play" or whatever the button was, indicating that I'm in the right window.
I can't believe it's a problem with the GBPVR profile, since it works perfectly once things get sorted out. (In other words, if the profile was bad, I would expect that Channel Up would never work.)
Firefly's AppIdentifier indicates the same window class when I switch from main menu to video library or live TV, but I'm wondering if there's another hidden class I should be referencing?
I guess that this might have been covered before. I did some searching and found an old reference here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=19535. If someone knows a better ref then please tell me.
Using 98.13b in client/server mode. Server is a 3ghz athlon and client is 2ghz pentium. Both are running same GBPVR. Lan is wired. All is working fine --- except:
On the CLIENT:
If I watch a recorded programme via Recordings, then FF doesn't work most times (programme freezes) and skip forward or backward does work but is slow (about 4-6 seconds per skip). I copy the same file over to the Video Library directory, which I keep separate, and the very same file plays absolutely perfectly with a good working FF and near instant skip forwards and backwards.
FF is not set to do short skip.
On the SERVER:
All is well and everything works from either source.
I'm running out of hard drive space on my GBPVR system, so want to set up GBPVR to do the conversion processing for me. I've stayed away from this for a little while because of that "very experimental - you have been warned" tag on the feature.
What are the gotchas?
Are there any prerequisites? ie: if I want xvid / divx output, is there something specific I need installed prior to trying this out? I can watch these formats using the Video plugin, but I dont think that means I can encode to those formats.
Is there a way I can run some tests from the command line before enabling the feature to see if it will work?
is there such a gui that will detect the breakpoints w/ compskin, allow u to refine them via a gui interface by dragging a bar, and then save the output as a dvd-player compliant file?
Am gradually getting GB-PVR to work with a WinTV Nova-T-USB2 DBV-T Receiver with thanks to people who have helped via this forum .
I'd like to be able to use the web-scheduling interface and have disabled ZoneAlarm however am getting the following error message whilst trying to log onto http://localhost:7647/.
Server Error in '/gbpvr' Application.
HTTP Error 404 - Not Found.
Version Information: Cassini Web Server 1.0.2486.9815
I've not tried to access this port outside of my LAN however guess that port-forwarding will need to be set-up in my router. Is this right and what IP Address does this port need forwarding on (127.0.0.1 perhaps)?.
