Occasionally when a program goes to a commercial break and the screen blanks for a fraction of a second, the video freezes. The audio keeps playing, but i'm left with a black screen. Exiting to main menu and going back to the program 'unfreezes' it, but then it happens again on the screen blank between the commercial ending and the program starting again.
It seems to be confined to only a few channels (E4 in the UK most notably) and not all the time - but if it happens once in a show, then it will most likely happen again in the next break in that show.
It definately affects live TV, and I think i've seen it happen on a recorded (or maybe timeshifted) show too, although I don't have any recordings to double check this at the moment.
Any thoughts?
ComCut is an application that will automatically remove commercials from recorded shows and (optionally) replace the original recording with the clean version.
I am ready to release a public beta of this application ComCut (but I'm open to more creative titles). It was written in VB.net 2005, and thus it requires .NET Framework 2.0.
Currently, the program:
1. Checks for a comskip txt file. It can create it if it's missing.
2. Parse the comskip txt file to find commercials breaks
3. Run "mpgtx.exe" (included) or Mencoder on the MPEG2 file, joining all the show segments
4. Demux and Remux the resulting stream in order to fix any possible errors (this is required for the file to play on some streaming media players)
5. Replace the original MPEG2 file with the new 'clean' version (save the original as a .original file or delete it)
To use, place the following at the end of "postprocessing.bat" (include the full path to comcut.exe):
comcut %1
You will need to run comcut.exe without any parameters in order to adjust the settings and set the paths to the required programs or to use the Batch Mode feature.
I currently use this program to clean up my recordings so I can watch them through TVersity on my D-Link DSM-320 media player. I can record the shows on my PC and stream them, commercial free, to my TV.
I've configured GB-PVR sound to go through my additional sound card which then I use when watching TV. This works well as someone using the PC in the next room can still use the computer and have the normal applications sounds coming out the PC default output to the local PC speakers.
The sound for Music Library files however doesn't seem to come out on my TV speakers through that separate soundcard output like the sound for all my TV/VideoLibrary.
Any ideas how to configure things to get the Music Library sound to route per the configured soundcard output that TV sounds goes out on, but without affecting the normal sounds for other PC applications?
In summary I have:
* Windows Apps => Normal Sound Card => PC Speakers
* GB-PVR => 2nd sound card output => speakers near my TV (separate room)
* issue is that Music Library sound is NOT coming out on TV speakers
I'm getting intermittent 6kb files created for some recordings. The is also a 2nd full file created, so the recording was performed, however GB-PVR's interface tries to play the 6kb file hence I have to go and manually delete it so it picks it up. Note in particular the "Recording is unusually small" message in the logs below.
Ideas on how to stop this 6kb file being created?

[2] I'm using the Microsoft DVR-MS (had to use this as cyberlink gave problems for me).
I've been reading more posts than I can ever hope to remember, but I can't seem to find any reference to creating a keyboard shortcut that can pull up a plugin directly. ie. {F1} loads the TV Guide, etc. Is it simply noted in a config / xml file?
I've read this forum inside out and followed every king of instructions there is to follow yet I still can not connect to my web admin outside my lan.
