2 Hauppauge PVR-250s - how do I hook up audio connection?
Posted by: mmatheny - 2006-11-07, 03:55 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (5)

I have a single card in now and the audio output is hooked to the line in on my sound card. I am about to add a second - how do I hook up the audio so I get audio output for both cards for live TV??? (say one is recording and I want to watch live TV on the other)

video bit rate too high, not dvd compatible
Posted by: makdevo - 2006-11-07, 02:36 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Greetings, this is my first post. I did a search and did not see any that matched my issue

I am using the Sapphire theatrix tuner card with GBPVR. I want to record TV shows and movies and burn to dvd for playback later.

I am using TMPGEnc DVD author for building and burning DVD files from MPEG2

The problem I am haveing is DVD build. I get an error message stating the "video bit rate is too high, not DVD compatible, the DVD files may not play on some DVD players".

And this is true, some shows will play and some won't. Some are perfect and some are not very good.

Is there something in the GBPVR config that can be tweeked to solve it and force "complant bit rates"

BTW, power cinema is also installed on the same PC

Any suggestions?

Thanks

RGB-TV output from Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard
Posted by: congoblue - 2006-11-07, 01:23 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

I've built a media pc for GBPVR using the Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard. It has a "TV out" module from the integrated graphics, giving composite video, S-video, and a red-green-blue set of phonos which I think are YPbPr (component).

However I can't find any info about these outputs - Asus calls them "HDTV outputs" and when you plug something into them, the composite video output disappears and a green light comes on on the TV out module.

I was hoping these outputs would be configurable to RGB rather than YPbPr as the manual seems to suggest, but when they refer to "RGB" in the manual I think they are talking about the VGA output not the TV card.

Anyone got this MB with more info than me?

Lost - weird recordings, or just a very weird TV show?
Posted by: Guy - 2006-11-07, 01:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

Hi all,

I'm really posting out of curiosity, and have been meaning to post this for ages......it's not a serious support issue, more of an interesting anecdote - but I am curious whether anyone's noticed the same thing.

Rather like the series itself, there are weird things happening to my recordings of "Lost".

I'm UK based and recorded all of series 2 (broadcast on Channel 4). In every single episode pretty much the same thing happened, but never seems to happen on any other recordings (I record quite a lot, probably about one TV programme a day).

In every episode of Lost, when playing the show back at exactly the point that it hits the commercial break (specifically, for those of you that watched Lost, when the screen goes black and the Lost logo starts swirling into view), the video stops, but the audio carries on going....very disconcerting! Skipping forward a couple of minutes brings back the video in sync with the audio & I can usually rewind to about a minute after the video stopped. It always seems to happen on the that same Lost logo screen....

Nothing shows up in the logs & this didn't happen in Series One....weird....

I am using the Cyberlink mux with a freeview tuner card (hauppauge nova T), although up until about the start of Lost, I was using the inbuilt DVR-MS mux. Am now using the cyberlink mux as we're watching live TV more and more on the MVPs (plus I just *love* the web streaming features of web admin), so I switched back to the cyberlink mux. I don't use comskip, or any other ad break skipping programmes.

Anyway...thought this might interest a few of you...its just so weird it happens only on Lost and always in the same place!

It doesn't bother us enourmously, so this isn't really a call for urgent support...but as I say, I'm very curious to know why its only happening on one particular sequence in one particular show.....

The "others" are obviously lurking somewhere in my box.....

  VMR / Overlay choice
Posted by: JonnyCam - 2006-11-07, 10:27 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

Hello,

Not sure if GBPVR uses the renderer to actually display the program, or if it's only invoked when the directshow starts - but I would like a switch or option to be able to choose between VMR & overlay without using the config app.

This is so that I can change to overlay when watching football & rugby - as I find the picture is too soft, and doesnt have the same crispness when in VMR9.
Mos of my recordings work fine using VMR9, and the OSD looks nicer (not to mention that anything other than full screen gives a dark purple AR bar instead of black on the TV)

Thanks

EDIT: Could this be added the the playback options in the System plugin?

Incorrect Channel Change with MCE IR Blaster
Posted by: Subscription_Free - 2006-11-07, 06:04 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Hi All,

Hope you can help.... Here's the situation. I am using the IR Blaster that came in my PVR150 MCE Kit. With a lot of help from someone on the forum, I got the computer to recognize it, and while it is communicating with my DISH Network (311) box, I don't get a very reliable channel change, and I am missing out on recorded shows. The IR blaster is sending the right channel info, but for example if I wanted channel 419, I end up recording channel 9, or channel 19 etc.... I'm just guessing, but it's like the IR Blaster is moving too fast for the DISH box. Is there a way of delaying the signals going from the IR Blaster to the DISH box, ie. 4 (*pause*) 1 (*pause*) 9 (*pause*), Enter. Another related problem, is that if I watch LiveTV by selecting a channel from the guide, more often than not, no signal is sent to the box to change the channel. However, if I then exit LiveTV, go back into the guide and select that same channel, it then changes to the correct channel. Almost like I had to prime, or warmup the IR blaster....

Has anyone else run into either of these problems using their IR Blaster.

I am desparate for help. The wife has missed a ton of her shows, and she's not happy (which inevitably means I'm not happy!!).

Thanks a ton.

  Stuttering Problem Fixed???
Posted by: strategus - 2006-11-07, 05:58 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (18)

Hey,

Okay, I'm one of the people who have been struggling with a stuttering problem during video playback since recent upgrading.

I THINK I've resolved it. At least, I hope I have, after about 1/2 hour of watching a recorded hockey game on "High" quality with virtually no noticeable jerkiness or stuttering (there are a few slight glitches here and there, but they could just as easily be the source broadcast).

Here's what I did:

1. Uninstalled GBPVR on my profile. Rebooted.
2. Logged in to all other profiles on the computer, and made sure GBPVR was properly uninstalled on those, too (there was a phantom partial install on one of them for some reason).
3. Rebooted.
4. Did a "Repair" installation of .Net 2.0. Rebooted.
5. Did a new install of GBPVR 98.13. Checked other profiles to make sure it was installed properly.

I use the DScaler5 decoder, by the way.

I'll try my testing again tomorrow, since some theories floating around seem to be considering the possibilty of the "Hibernation" mode having something to do with it. But so far, so good.

I hope my system stays happy, since I really love the latest build...

Capture Cards - What is the cream of the crop?
Posted by: ksarauer - 2006-11-07, 04:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Hello, I'm looking to the users as to what they believe the cream of the crop capture cards are?

Preferable these would be cards that you have seen in action.

Thanks for looking...
