  Migrating to new PC
Posted by: NumberFive - 2020-09-11, 04:38 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Hello,

I'm migrating my install of 4.2.5 from an old PC to a new one.  All seems to be going well, but wondering if anyone can offer any tips.

What I have done is to copy the recordings from "Old PC" to "New PC", then copied the contents of Public/NPVR/ from the old PC to the new PC.  This seemed to migrate all the recordings okay, but left the channels and devices a bit of a mess.

I guess the preferred way is that I should have done an "Export Recordings" and "Import Recordings"?

When I deleted all the channels and then readded them, after an EPG update all the recurring recordings seemed to be picked up.  However, some of them went to SD versions of channels rather than their HD equivalents.  How does the NextPVR logic work in this case?  Is it purely by the channel name, or is it by some database ID?

Overall I'm extremely impressed how NextPVR handled the migration, in what I guess is an unconventional way to go about things.  My thinking in copying the whole npvr.db3 over was to keep all my "watched" video files and whatnot too.  Maybe there's a more graceful way I should do this?

My old machine is still live and acting as the main one.  New machine running in parallel.  I can still make changes if anyone has tips?

Thanks Smile

migrating from Popcorn Hour to ???
Posted by: dongna - 2020-09-10, 06:38 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (7)

I've been using NPVR with 2 Popcorn Hours attached to my two TVs for many years now. Recently one of them died. Before trying to scrounge up a replacement on ebay or something, I figured I'd wander over to this forum to see what's new.

I see we're not in Kansas anymore.

So support for the Popcorn Hours is dead. Understandable. I see there are a multitude of replacement options available. If I gather correctly, the most popular seem to be the Amazon (Fire TV, FireStick, etc.) and Apple TV offerings? If there are options I'm missing, please let me know.

My question is simple: are any of these device preferable to the other for the purposes of running NPVR?

Advanced recordings not being automatically executed after 823 update - user error
Posted by: daneo - 2020-09-10, 06:32 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (2)

Hi Sub,

I have an interesting one here. I use a lot of SQLITE for advanced recordings to avoid things I already have, and it's been working really really well for about six months now.

I updated to the latest release, and now my advanced recording requests are only being scheduled when I go into the web UI, open up the recurring recording query and press "save".

I have a set of before and after logs and DB plus screenshots showing the changes.  The system is quiet after doing an EPG update at 6:50am (it's 8:30am now).

I go into the scheduled recordings and see basically only the non-advanced series requests. I then go into the recurring, open up one, save it, and the recurring recordings which should have been there magically re-appear.

I don't think there's a rollback option anymore - what do do?

Screenshots 1 and 2 correspond to the 817 log file set / screenshots 3 and 4 correspond to the 819 log file set.

Edit - the screenshots are no longer in order, and I can't attach the zipped logs + DB files. Welp. Trying logs without db. No luck - the attachment handler is borked, can only upload one zip file.
Edit2 - gave up, put DB and logs on Dropbox - https://www.dropbox.com/t/oUlrL9DKlCWvDw7M - link is good for a week.

Thanks,
 Dane

  Recurring recording problem
Posted by: Dave48167 - 2020-09-09, 06:26 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (18)

Hi All -

This issue occurs only with certain shows (Jeopardy! & Elementary) that had worked fine previously.

I can set them up to record "All Episodes on this channel" and they appear in the "Recurring Recordings" list but nothing appears in the "Pending Recordings" list and the shows are not recorded.  Several other shows are set to record "All Episodes ...." which appear in the PR list and record as expected.

Three log files are attached.  NPVR.log.1  was created before I add Jeopardy! to the recurring list.  NPVR.log was created when I closed NPVR after add Jeopardy! to the list.

No other log files appear to be modified for this operation.

Jeopardy! now appears in the Recurring list but not in the Pending list.  Any thoughts about why this is happening?

Any and all help here will be appreciated.

Dave

  V5 merging channels after scan.
Posted by: biggoronjon - 2020-09-09, 11:10 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (4)

I have two stations that use the exact same channel numbers.  On V4 it would list all the channels after the scan and I could manually edit the list.  Or I could do a manual scan by frequency.  With V5 it is hiding one of the stations and I cannot fix it in the setup.  Is there any plan to add manual scanning back to V5?

  Ignore https certificate validation
Posted by: mvallevand - 2020-09-08, 07:22 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (6)

One of the sites I use had a cert. expire yesterday and NextPVR will not open the stream.  The log reference is not clear (and the inner exception is not logged)

020-09-08 14:58:36.042[ERROR][134]Unable to StartStream(): One or more errors occurred. (The SSL connection could not be established, see inner exception.)

but if I open the m3u8 with a browser or curl I can see it.

Is there currently a way to bypass this?

  IPTV device - reloading M3U
Posted by: amirlsm - 2020-09-08, 03:37 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (28)

My IPTV provider frequently updates his M3U file, adding and removing channels and changing group assignment. All my IPTV client apps that download the m3U directly from the source (not via NPVR) get the new M3U and display the updated channel lists.

However, my NextPVR Linus server keeps providing the old saved channel list to all NPVR clients.

The "Update M3U" button in the web administration console (at: localhost:8866/settings.html) does not seem to work. It opens a big black window but is not updating the channels.

If I add a second IPTV device with the same source it downloads the current m3u  and xmltv files but the channels are added to the existing ones. I can merge the files but what I'm looking for is an automatic refresh of the m3u file and sources, just like the timed refresh of the TV guide.

  1. Is there a linux command to force NPVR to reload m3u url's?
  2. What is the frequency of IPTV device source refresh?
  3. Is there a built-in timed refresh (for example every 24 hours)?
  4. If the only way is to add a new source, download the M3U file and auto merge the channels - will the old recording timers stay on and record from the correct chanels?
