Timezone compensation in TV Guide (EPG Buddy)
Posted by: Mel - 2020-09-01, 09:10 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (40)

Hi all,

I've just switched from v4 to v5 and everything is running great except for one small issue. Historically, I've only used the ATSC source for the guide data but with the upgrade I thought it was time to revisit the xml route via EPG Buddy (using TVGuide.com data). My use case is very simple, just one tuner and 8 OTA channels. The XML file EPG Buddy generates adds a local GMT offset (presently -7hrs) to every data entry, so when it gets imported into the NextPVR TV Guide everything is (predictably) off by 7 hours. I can manually find/replace the -0700 entry in the xml file and then of course, everything lines up.

It appears that in Media Portal 2 there is a setting (Plugins/XmlTv) "Apply time compensation when loading tvguide.xml" to account for this. Is there something like this that could be added to NextPVR? Or, am I missing something that functions similarly that's already there? Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

I've attached a log zip if that's of any help.

Thanks!

  Test/Development environment for npvr.db3
Posted by: scJohn - 2020-09-01, 07:18 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (10)

In production the  npvr database is located at:
"D:\Users\Public\NPVR\npvr.db3"

I have a test/development npvr database located at:
"D:\Users\johni\Projects\graphql-knex-npvr\NPVR\npvr.db3"

Is it possible to point "C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\NextPVR.exe" to use the test npvr.db3.  I came across some docs for the command line parameters for NetPVR.exe  but did not need see anything for overriding the production npvr.db3 file.

What is the best practice to set up a development environment so that I don't screw up the production version?

Version 4.

Thanks

  knewc 3.0.0~a1 for Matrix
Posted by: mvallevand - 2020-09-01, 04:17 PM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (4)

Now that Kodi Matrix is in alpha and looking better and better all the time, I thought I should post  knewc with the required changes to a few API calls.  I haven't figure out how to have a repository on github with Leia and Matrix version so for now this as only only via a zip file.

Functionally it should be the same as 2.8.0

Any way to control closed captioning? And smooth playback on a Raspberry Pi 3 for TV
Posted by: shlom - 2020-08-31, 08:21 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (4)

Hello, I'm a legacy 4.x user and took a break from using NextPVR for the last several months due to the pandemic, and recently came back to it and was amazed at the progress that 5.x has made. In my current set up, I have an Ubuntu server running NextPVR 5, HD Home Run OTA tuner, and I was planning on re-purposing a Raspberry Pi 3 for the client. The Pi is connected via 100 mbps Ethernet, the server is GbE. The Pi is not overclocked. The Pi is installed with LibreELEC and the official Kodi plugin. I have an MPEG2 license. I am only using it to watch pre-recorded TV in North America, no movies, no streaming, no live TV. I do, however, frequently start a TV show not long after it starts, and may end up catching up with the live broadcast by the end of the show.

I have a few issues with this set up.

1. The playback isn't the smoothest around. SD content is fine, but 720p and 1080i both have a few seconds of buffering, and messing around with pausing, fast forwarding, rewinding, etc can really cause stuttering.
2. Channel ordering is sequential in the Kodi plugin, and not by actual channel number. Is there a way to configure Kodi to use the actual broadcast channel number?
3. I have hearing impaired viewers that need closed captioning. It doesn't work by default in Kodi. Is there a way to enable it? It seems like I might have to mess around with something like ccextractor on the server? Does that work with a stream that's being recorded? When I bring up the web client, closed captioning works great except that it's mostly in a middle band of the screen and HUGE and blocks a lot of the screen for longer captions. Is there any way to adjust the captioning either font size or location?

Am I better off finding a more powerful client than the Pi to connect to the TV? I was hoping for a silent client (I know, I know, some of the viewers in my household can't hear a thing but I can.)

Thank you

  Import of V4 recordings xml
Posted by: Pctravel - 2020-08-31, 05:40 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (4)

I migrated to V5 and imported the v4 xml for recordings.  I corrected the XML export from v4 before importing for a new folder I moved the recordings to however I realized I needed to correct two moves to a new file location (I only corrected one of them prior to import).   What is the best way to correct this?  (I'm not good with DB3 editing or better said, have never done it).  I know this is a simple find and replace command. Ideally is there a way to reimport the recording XML with the corrected file location?  I'm guessing I would need to delete the incorrectly located files in NextPVR and then reimport after updating the xml file. If I reimport files with the exact same location will that create a duplicate entry?

AC3 audio dropouts on live TV playback
Posted by: sgilani - 2020-08-31, 03:47 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

I'm seeing a new issue after installing 5.0.8. I'm capturing HDMI with AC3 audio with an HDPVR2. When watching live TV on the Windows client, I get audio dropouts every few seconds. However, if I make a recording, that recording plays back fine. Live TV also works fine via Kodi, the web app, and VLC--so this seems to be an issue solely with the Windows client and only while watching live. I tried different decoders and fiddled with the audio renderer settings to no avail.

Hitting pause for a second or two (so that there's a small buffer ahead of playback) seems to help clear it up.

Logs attached.

Big Grin Scanning Channels
Posted by: nash.geoffrey@outlook.com - 2020-08-30, 11:58 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (3)

Hi

I have been running NextPVR in the past. I had to restore Windows 10 and must reload NextPVR. I all appears to work. It can identify my Local Recorder (WinFast DTV Dongle Dual Filter) and IPTV Device. Scanning for channels does not work.

I also loaded WinFast program to get drivers.

Please help.

Love

Starting recording before channel on air = Unplayable file
Posted by: Lao Pan - 2020-08-30, 08:31 AM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (9)

At the moment we have a Channel on UK Freeview that starts at 21:00 hours. (Merit TV) Surprisingly the first program of the night was one that I decided to record. (Inside RAF Brize Norton_20200829_21002200)
With the one minute pre-padding, recording started before the channel was on air, which resulted in a 739 Mb file which appears to be blank.

I seem to remember in previous versions of NPVR there was a work around for part time channels, but I could be wrong.
