NPVR v5 no longer prevents shutdown with a remote
Posted by: Lao Pan - 2020-06-30, 06:24 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (22)

Sub After the release of v5.0.5 you provided a NPVRTray exe which prevented an accidental shutdown with a remote during an in-progress recordings. It would just blank the screen, leaving the computer running till the recording had finished (Awaymode?)

The tray app that was installed with v 5.0.6 appears to not have this function - you guest it, I shut down the computer during one of her recordings Sick

I checked the logs (after zipping from the web app), but they don't go back far enough.

  Recording fails after unlocking PC
Posted by: mshuttle - 2020-06-29, 10:08 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (9)

Hi,

I've been using NextPVR for many years now and recently took the decision to upgrade to version 5. I like it very much but I've been having some problems with it terminating recordings early.

It's taken me a little while to work out when it's happening, but it seems that sometimes, after my Windows PC has screen locked, when I sign back in the recording stops. I noticed this today when returning to my PC and unlocking it, expecting Hawaii 5-0 to be recording, the npvr notification icon was green rather than red. Checking the log file (below) I can see that the recording started fine at 18:55 (I do five minutes before, 10 minutes after as standard), but it was when I logged in at around 19:55 (irritatingly 5 mins before the end!) that the recording shutdown, and the log notes it got a 'GET request: /shutdown' at this point.

Code:

I have tried forcing it to quit - starting a recording, locking the PC and signing back in to see if I could halt the recording in its tracks, but without any success and examining the logs files, no shutodwn line, just a more usual 'GET request: /stream/stop?handle=3' line at the end of the recording amongst all the others about stopping graphs and filters. So it does not seem to do it every time, and has done many recording perfectly. It's just an occasional thing.

I could of course do some workarounds - I could return to version 4, I could stop my screen locking, I could studiously avoid unlocking my machines at times likely to impinge on a recording, but none of those are things I really want to do.

So, has anyone got any suggestions, any idea what causes this 'GET request: /shutdown' to be emitted?

Many thanks.

PS: I guess you may want to know, I'm running Windows 10 1909, NextPVR 5.0.6 (200614), using a Hauppauge WinTV-QuadHD, with a Ryzen 7 2700 and 32Gb of RAM.

  Skipping forwards initially goes backwards
Posted by: Spotspot - 2020-06-29, 10:07 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (5)

When I have been watching recorded TV for a while through NPVR appllication, I click the right arrow on my remote control to skip an ad. Instead NPVR jumps backwards to video I have already seen. From that point I can click the right arrow again and it will be skipping forwards in time as it should.
It looks as though NPVR thinks the point in time I am up to while watching the video is less that what it really is. The first skip takes me back to that point, also seeming to have the effect of synchronising what point in the recording I am really up to with what NPVR thinks I am up to, so subsequent skips work as expected.
What can I do about this?
System: Win 10, video renderer EVR, video decoders Microsoft, audio Lav.

  Recording direct to GPhotos API
Posted by: rgonzalez - 2020-06-29, 04:45 AM - Forum: Developers - No Replies

Hello guys!

Before I try to start developing something, I decided to first ask if there is something already developed for nextPVR that supports it GPhotos.

What I want to accomplish is to direct upload a recording to Google Photos API, save and allow the user to see the recordings, as it works today.

Thanks for advance!

  xmltv tag for program significance
Posted by: fwpvr789 - 2020-06-29, 04:34 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (9)

Hi,

I saw some programs in the guide downloaded from schedule direct has a "Live" label at the lower right corner, then I found the value comes from the "significance" column in the "EPG_EVENT" table. Currently one of my TV sources is using custom XMLTV file to import guide and I have a way to determine whether a program is "Live" or not. My question is, what's the tag in xmltv file that maps to the "significance" column, or does it exist?

Thanks.

  Raspberry pi comskip
Posted by: DavidD - 2020-06-28, 09:39 PM - Forum: Linux - Replies (11)

Hello, I am interested in getting comskip working with NextPVR. I have done a lot of reading - but still cannot seem to get it reading.

I have compiled and installed comskip. It seems to be working if I execute it on its own.

Created the following comskip.ini in the comskip installation directory /usr/local/bin/comskip:

output_edl=1

live_tv=1

Created the following ParallelProcessing.sh and even tried the same file as PostProcessing.sh
/var/opt/nextpvr/scripts. I made the permissions for executable for other.

cd /usr/local/bin    > /home/pi/ParallelProcessing.sh

comskip "$1" >>  /home/pi/ParallelProcessing.sh

I misnamed my log file as ParallelProcessing.sh - it should have been ParallelProcessing.log. But still I think it should have worked.
I am getting no log file in any case.

Could you please let me know what I am doing wrong.

Updating a in-progress recording (web GUI)
Posted by: snagglewest - 2020-06-28, 07:26 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (3)

Ran across a really weird scenario going on.  I have an in-progress recording going and I needed to extend the end time a bit so I opened the web GUI scheduler page and clicked the recording which opened the dialog as expected.  I then updated the post padding 30 min, but when I clicked save it disappeared.  Disappeared from the schedule page, the front page , everyware as if it was deleted.  Strange part is it's still recording so it appears this only effects the GUI.  Its still got another 30 minto go but as it looks right now the recording is ok.  Here's some really dirty logs if it helps.

  Multi-User support
Posted by: boringgit - 2020-06-28, 05:49 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Clearly not important, but a "nice to have" would be support for additional users.

I have a HD Home Run Quad and a server capable of transcoding multiple streams at the same time (I know - first world problems!), it would be nice to be able to give family members access too.

In an ideal world, some would be able to set recordings, others not, some access live TV, others not. Some delete existing recordings, others not.

I can see this entering your priority list under "learn Latin", just thought I would mention Smile

guide on gui showing incorrectly as UTC
Posted by: uniqrelb - 2020-06-28, 03:16 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (2)

Am running nextpvr on a pi3. Get the EPG from shedules direct. Am in the US, gmt -4.
Upgraded to 5.0.6 recently. Don't know when but the tv guide now shows with the time on UTC. The schedules are all correct but 4 hours off. This doesn't affect any of the clients, they all see the guide correctly. Also doesn't affect any of the recordings. Double checked on the pi itself and it shows the correct date and time.
Apologies if this is noobie question, have searched in vain before posting this.
Thanks

  records causing interface problem
Posted by: madmanuk - 2020-06-28, 03:15 PM - Forum: macOS - Replies (8)

I have an issue where a few lines in the database, scheduled recordings table, cause the interface to choke.

Since this file is 10.9mb - I have removed the other tables and just left the few lines, one of which I am pretty sure is causing the issue, so you wont be able to just copy it into a NPVR setup...

I hope that is still enough for you to find the problem Confused

It causes the interface to hiccup, making "All Recordings" and "Pending" blank.

I have reached the limit of my database ability...
It may be that Das Boot contains a German character or something?
