gbpvr version 97.09 refuses to boot onto the mediamvp
Posted by: jc8472 - 2006-06-14, 11:16 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

Sad

Ever since I updated to version 97.09, the mediamvp don't wanna load GBPVR. I don't know what's goin on. It was working with 96.12, but not this one. Maybe I need to abandon dhcpd32free and purchase a router.

  BaseSkin v2.5 released
Posted by: MixMan - 2006-06-14, 10:32 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (28)

Updated the BaseSkin to v2.5 on the Wiki

The big difference is that BaseSkin is split to 2 parts
BaseSkin and BaseSKinPlugins.

Introduced a system variable %SKINROOT% that will be used for next update of ThemePacks.
Run Installer to install files, the SkinRoot program and install Blank font

Skin files change
Changed the loading order of Background_Mask.png
Implemented earlier fixes, found in support thread.
Changed XML values to fix "minor bugs" and appearance of popups in TVguilde, Recordings, Video, System, Photo.

  Coolsat question?
Posted by: TrxR - 2006-06-14, 09:51 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (1)

I have a coolsat 5000 and am looking for something to record the odd movie and some of my TV shows and I was wondering if this will controll my coolsat? if I set up a scheduled recording will it change my reciver to that channel for me? what if it is on another provider which is connected to the coolsat via a diseq switch?? I take it I would also need a high speed internet connection? Is there another more basic way to set up a simple vcr type setup as I can set the timer on the coolsat aswell if needed??

Thanks

Using stored comskip logos with postprocessing.bat
Posted by: mobiusnz - 2006-06-14, 09:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Ok - I've finally taken a look at post processing.bat and I can see you can specify logo's to use for comskip. I took a look through the logos in my recordings directory and noticed they do definately vary a lot. Also I've seen how to skip comskip processing for specific channels - this is awesome as it annoyed me that my pc would process for ages when I recorded a rugby match - 2 hour recording with only one add break at half time.

My question is - has anyone played with using a specific logo for recordings rather than letting comskip find one.

A) - How much does it speed the comskip process? I imagine this is the first pass it does looking for a logo - how long does this normally take?

B) - Does the logo vary depending on the image its imposed on - in which case could picking a well defined logo lower the accuracy in scenes when the background is bright so there is less contrast and hence less defined edges?

C) - And to some it up is it worth playing with or am I wasting my time and likely to lower my accuracy?

I'm in New Zealand and our logos are consistent.

  DVD playing fast
Posted by: dunni - 2006-06-14, 08:43 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I'm having problems getting DVD playback to work properly. With the system default decoder the picture was blocky.

I then tried the Cyberlink decoder and the picture was fine but every few seconds it plays speeded up for the next few seconds.

I also installed a WinDVD trial and tried the InterVideo decoder but that was worse. It did the speeding up thing and I didn't even get a picture sometimes.

PowerDVD plays DVDs fine with no speed up, so maybe it's not the decoder. Any suggestions? All my logs from just after getting the speed up with the Cyberlink decoder are attached.

Edit: I should have mentioned I'm using version 0.97.9

  Half height
Posted by: ig888ack - 2006-06-14, 06:49 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I've got my heart set on building a pvr and putting in a Dell Optiplex 240 SFF case. I picked up the computer the other day and it has all working parts except the motherboard. Also, the graphics card does not have TV-out.

I've looked all over Dell's website and can't find the kind of motherboard I would need to replace it. Does anyone happen to know where I might could find this info? I can't tell if it's mini-ATX or what.

I'll also have to purchase a half-height AGP video card with TV-Out. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Recording Fails using SQLLite, but file exists and is ok?
Posted by: stryder - 2006-06-14, 06:32 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hi all,

Since upgrading the DB to SQLLite as a replacement for Access I have had a couple of recordings fail, (i.e. failed appears in recordings screen) , however when I remote in and check the box, the recording exists in my recordings directory , and I have to move it to a location picked up by video library to view it, the recording is fine and I can watch it with no problems.

Its only happened a couple of times since I upgraded, and most recordings are ok, I upgraded to 97.09 a couple of weeks before, with no problems, so seems to be related to the new DB.
I think maybe the DB Update is failing, no errors appear in the logs though?

Anyone else experienced this?

  XDVD beta sqlite db patch
Posted by: cheval - 2006-06-14, 05:42 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (12)

Since moving recently to GBPVR 97.09 and switching the database from ACCESS to SQLite this plugin has been broken. It complains about the fact that the database is no longer ACCESS.

First Fix:
I've gone ahead and fixed the plugin by removing the unnecessary connection that it was making. It actually appears that it did nothing other than make the connection.

Second Fix:
The BaseFileDirectory setting in settings.xml (located in the skins directory) has been expanded (changed I guess) to take a list of directories. It no longer allows you to browse through your entire computer. It only allows you to browse those directories. The functionality to browse like the previous plugin broke when I compiled this with C# and .NET 2.0, so I feel this is as good if not better (simular to other plugins). The format is as follows:
<BaseFileDirectory>D:\Videos\DVD\,D:\Videos\Temp\</BaseFileDirectory>

Future Fix:
I'm planning to make the following changes prior to releasing the plugin to the wiki:
- Get DVDDrive from config tab DVD instead of duplicating this setting.
- Get MountDVDDrive from config tab DVD instead of duplicating this also.
- Create a plugin config setting window to allow you to specify settings from the config application rather than modifing the settings.xml

Suggested Fixes:
? Are there any other fixes?

Note: This patch only contains the .dll file so you need to install the plugin using the wiki version prior to using this patch.

forum related question about number of downloads
Posted by: turkey - 2006-06-14, 03:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I have noticed that when posting zip files as attachments on this forum, the number of downloads is always at zero. Is there a way to fix this, or some way to add in a functional download counter for files that I post here? It would be nice to know how many people have downloaded utilities that I have worked on.
