I'm currently the owner of the WinTV 350 but have decided to return it for either the USB Personal Recorder by Hauppauge or the WinTV 150. I'm assuming that GB-PVR will work with both. Is that a correct assumption? Also, any input on which one might be better?
Thanks,
David
P.S. - Just found the Wiki. I should have read that first...
I have 97.7 installed and it has been working fine until yesterday. When i go to watch tv, the channels are not tuned properly and every channel is static. At first i thought that my card was broke. I am using a PVR250. I opened up WinTV2000 to check if it worked, and the tuner worked fine. every channel worked in WinTV2000. I then opened up GBPVR again and I went to watch tv. It seemed to work fine at first, until i tried to change the channel. Every channel was the same. It was on the same station for every channel. I then opened up WinTV2000 again and changed the channel to a different channel. I closed it down and opened up gbpvr again. The only channel it will display is the channel that was showing on WinTV before i closed it. If i change a channel in gbpvr, it will keep the same channel up. I installed 97.9 and it did nothing, it still has the same problem. Please help!. I am planning on having a cookout soon and i would like to have this running.
I have searched the forum and googled more generally but can't find an understandable guide to using the time offset feature. Sorry if there is something I should have followed first.
My problem is that I live in Spain which is an hour ahead of the UK but get sky tv from the UK. The epg I download seems to be an hour behind us here.
I tried setting the offset feature to an hour out, then "flushed" the epg and downloaded it all again.
However, when I choose a program to record from the epg I get (I think) the program one hour before. Can anyone who has a similar problem put me straight on how to get the spanish time and the uk epg in sync?
BTW - I have also tried changing the windows clock to reflect UK time but that doesn't seem to make any difference. I can't get into the bios at the moment to change the system clock because I have a microsoft wireless keyboard that doesn't work until after the bios has completed its boot sequence. I will try a ps2 keyboard when I get a moment, if people think changing the system clock is the answer.
Anyone have a particular Video Editor they use???
I have spent quit a bit of time @videohelp.com. Lottsa data!!!
I have been using Ulead VideoStudio 8 to make slide shows, which are burnt to DVD (MPEG2, LPCM audio). The DVD'S appear to be compatible with most
USA, NTSC players.
In fact the slide shows run great with GBPVR "Picture Library" through 2 MPVP,s.
The idea I had (well I got it from this thread : http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=15982) is to copy the temporary mpg that gbpvr is streaming to the mvp to a cache directory once it is fully transcoded.
When playing an avi file for the second time, the trans2mvp.bat first looks if there is a fully transcoded mpg in the cache directory. If yes, then it copies this mpg back to the temporary file, so gbpvr immediately has a full mpg file in which you can skip. Maybe it is possible to also implement a resume, but that seems a bit too complicated, so I won't try.
Here is what you need:
- trans2mvp.bat: is called by gbpvr and should be in the gbpvr directory. All it does is to start another trans2mvp2.bat. it is essential to 'start' it, because this way, the batch file keeps on running even if you stop watching in the middle of an avi file.
- trans2mvp2.bat: this batch file either copies from the mvp cache, or starts transcoding with ffmpeg, but first it kills any running ffmpeg processes. And when ffmpeg fully has transcoded an .avi, it copies the mvp to the buffer. In the beginning of the script you 'll need the adjust the path in some variables.
I've tested this script for some weeks and it works fine for me. It could be handy to combine the script with the solution for maintaining the aspect ratio (http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=15156), but as it is now, it plays 99% of all my avi's. One limitation I found is that when whatching a movie for which a copy from the cache is used, and immediately you stop and play another movie, then still the first movie is played. Reason is that copying back a large file to the cache can take some minutes. Also you will need to clean the mvpcache from time to time.
This may be to do with the fact that GB PVR still detects my old bda device (An Avermedia card that had been uninstalled, but still gets picked up in the mux player checker), but I can only scan for channels when I am inserting a new capture device.
If I go back and edit the capture device and scan for channels, then I cant re scan, it tells me it cant initialise the BDA device.
The solution is to remove the capture device and insert it again (Annoying, as I'm having to rescan a few times to pick up one pesky channel)
When I run GBPVR on my PC I can't play back any of the mpeg2 files recorded via the current (0.97.9) or previous versions. This always worked fine untill I upgraded to v0.97.7 and the subsequent upgrade to v0.97.9 didn't fix it.
I simply get the message "Error: Failure playing back file".
I'm running windows 2k sp4 and using a PVR350. I also use a Media MVP and playing back through this is fine.
Hello,
I have noticed that since upgrading to 0.97.9 there are two dvr-ms files created per scheduled recording. The first one is only 4kB, the other one (ending with -1.dvr-ms) seems ok.
I saw that there is a new parameter in config.xml "<BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>true</BDASubmitTuningRequestTwiceOnRecord>".
Is that parameter related, if so is this behaviuor as expected.
I enclosed a log if this is not correct.
I'm a newbie but I'm wondering how to export my scheduled recordings before I empty the EPG. I have several repeated channels in my TV Guide and found that they are also listed in the config application. I'm going to empty it and start anew, but don't want to lose my scheduled recordings.
EPGExtra adds extra information to the GBPVR program description that is displayed when using any of the GBPVR program guides. The following additional items are added:
Movies - Year Released, Star Rating and MPAA Rating before the description.
Regular shows - First Aired Date and Repeat Flag before the description.
All programs - Closed Captions and Stereo after the description.
For instance:
(1998 *** PG-13) A lawyer (Fred Smith) divorces his aristocratic wife (Honoria Glossop) who then wins a fortune at the roulette wheel in Monte Carlo. (Stereo)
(2003 |R|) Stan divorces Irma who finds she has won the lottery. (CC, Stereo)
The existing data downloaded from Zap2it by the GBPVR EPG update is used to feed EPGExtra, so no additional programs are required and installation is extremely simple. It has been tested with GBPVR 97.7 (both SQLite and MS Access) but should work with earlier releases. A Zap2it account and .Net 2.0 is required.
EPGExtra replaces the EPGMovieDate utility which is still available for .Net 1.1 users. Both EPGExtra and EPGMovieDate can be downloaded from the wiki.
