Have a DVICO Fusion 5 Gold RT. Appears to be configured correctly as a capture card. Have signed up with Zap2It and the channels show up in the Config utility.
However running GB-PVR sez that EPG has not been configured.
I have also used a script to manually download XMLTV from Zap2It and imported the channel list -- same thing.
I'm brand new to the HTPC world and just installed my tuner card and GBPVR tonight...I'm very impressed.
Newbie question: is there a plugin out there that provides a progress bar similar to <cringe> Tivo </cringe> for forwarding and rewinding? I'm looking for something that gives a visual representation of the duration of recorded material so you have some idea how far you've jumped while forwarding or rewinding.
I tried searching for this, but didn't find it.
Also, one of the pics on the screenshots page shows a "browsing mini guide." I couldn't find this plugin either. Can someone point me to the right plugin?
It would be nice if the delete recording button asked "are you sure you want to delete xxxxx recording?". Sometimes I slip the mouse down a button and hit delete instead of play. Poof the file is gone!
I can't see anything about this so I figured I'd post. I'm running and older version of GBPVR and when I turn on the Trancoding option in the gbconfig my commercial skipping doesn't work. I have comskip set so it runs while recording, so the comskip file is there, but it seems that if the recorded file has been transcoded, GB pvr doesn't use the log file to skip the commercials. Has this behaviour been changed in recent versions so that it uses the comskip file on trancoded files?
Situation:
1) Watching TV in timeshift mode
2) Flip through the channels
3) Timeshift mode disabled automatically according to the config setting
4) Channel surfing is fast because of preview mode
5) Found interesting show, stop flipping channels
6) After 15 minites miss a word
7) Try to skip back
= Enable timeshift mode :-(
Solutions:
If timeshift mode was automatically removed by a channel change then:
1) Display an overlay to remind that temp live preview mode is on
2) Automatically re-enable timeshift after configurable delay [config option]
I was running 96.12 and just installed 97.9, and everything is almost as if I did a clean install. GBPVR.mdb is basically blank, only 492KB, while the backup I made before installing is 77,668KB. In Config, the capture sources and channels (basically whatever was in the DB) are gone, but all other settings (stored in config.xml) seem to be OK.
I've started the main program a couple times, so I don't know if the logs will have anything useful, I but I zipped up any log file modified today and attached it.
PVR 500 running 2.0.35.23348 recording off Coax aerial.
GBPVR 97.7 & and i just upgraded to 97.9 and tested again.
MVP is using bundled dongle.bin with GBPVR - no power off after install.
Test included;
Start a recording off the tv guide from coax
Watch and use short skip from gbpvr to skip around the recording. This is fine.
Go to the MVP (D3A) start watching the same recording.
Use short skip (set to 30 sec increments) to navigate around the recording.
Use skip forward (Ctrl-Right - the 1 minute one) - bam, contacting servers.
Wait for restart - start recording again, try and skip to where the recording left off, sometimes will reboot the MVP, sometimes will skip right to the end.
Noticed that the timeline is wrong says there's only 30 of video, but it's been running longer than that.
Went back to GBPVR - stopped the recording. Checked the timeline - says 32 seconds.
Dropped out of gbpvr, had a look at the recording - windows media also reports 32 seconds, but play the video and it runs longer (I have a copy of the recording if you want to see it).
I always remembered that the MVP didn't like the ctrl-right skip while recording, and before 97 version, the short skip would run 2x speed so it didn't have the same problem. But since 97, the short skip does a 30 second skip like the pc gbpvr.
Wondering if you have any ideas as to what might be causing this, I guess all I am really after is;
should I expect to be able to watch a video that is currently recording via the mvp and skip the ads (since I'm behind live by x minutes).
If you're interested in that video, it's 100 mb, I could arrange to open an ftp port on my network - then pm you the connection details.
I liked the ATSC well enough that when another deal came up at Fry's I bought another. I can't seem to get both of them working with GBPVR. When I disable to driver for one, the other works fine. When I re-enable the second card, neither work in GBPVR. I just installed the newest 97.9 version.
I suppose I should post some logs, and will do so when I run the routine again.
Anybody else manage to get two of these working together?
But I would also like to ask here if anyone knows of an inexpensive switch that allows you to lock ports to half duplex. If the read the post linked above you will know why I'm looking.
10/100 will do, but if anyone knows of one that supports gigbit that would be even beter as it would be more versitile on my network.
Sub has the code for connecting with the MVP working great in the latest release, but I started having problems again where the dongle.bin file would never finish loading. I believe I understand why that is and how to fix it.
I believe that what is happening is that since the MVP switches to half duplex at the end of the dongle.bin load, if the switch port does not also switch it will not allow the load to finish. My switches had been doing that most of the time, but for some reason they got in a mode that would not allow them to switch.
What I did as a temporary fix was use one of Tipster's tricks and shut down all of my network equipment and bring it all back up one piece at a time. That reset my switches so that they could switch to half duplex when the MVP does.
Does anyone know of an inexpensive switch that will allow you to lock ports to half duplex? I think that would be a permanent fix and greatly enhance the WAF for many of us.
