  Docker image for arm64
Posted by: billybo8 - 2020-05-13, 10:08 PM - Forum: Docker arm32v7 - Replies (1)

Is there a Docker image for arm64 devices? If not could you point me in the right direction?
I have an arm64 Android TV box running Armbian Ubuntu which runs Home Assistant in a Docker container. It would be great if I could use it for Next PVR instead of having a PC running.
I know the USB tv tuner works fine as I was already using it on that box as a software defined radio to receive 433MHz info. NextPVR seems like a much better idea!

Windows install working great, clients not so much
Posted by: nclou - 2020-05-13, 09:29 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (11)

So first of all, I want to thank everyone for an awesome piece of software, and especially for the support on these forums that got me through a couple challenges with setup.

I now have NextPVR setup and working great on a Windows 10 pc.  I have a combination of HDHR (1st gen) for OTA and an IPTV service.  Antenna placement is tough in my place, but I eventually managed to climb up into the highest reaches of my attic and place my antenna so I'm receiving 85+ reception on all channels.  I have near perfect receptions on the host pc and on the web client.

However, when I play it through a client in another part of the house (on the same network), the picture comes in pixelated and choppy, as if reception was still bad.  The clients I've tried are:

Kodi on Pi, wifi connected
NextPVR app on Apple 4k (hardwired through powerline network)
MrMC app on Apple 4k (hardwired through powerline network)

I'd blame it on the powerline network, except the Kodi is on wifi and had the same issue.  And I can sit right next to the Pi, open up the web player on my phone, and it plays perfectly on wifi, so it shouldn't be strictly a wifi strength thing.  The weird thing is that while the pixelation/drops looks like exactly what you get with poor OTA reception, it doesn't really match my signal strengths...a channel that gets 99 reception plays worse than one at 85.  And the IPTV streams play perfectly on all the clients.

I did find a suggestion on the forums to disable real time anti-virus on the host PC, so I did turn off Window Defender.  That made no difference at all on the ATV, but it may have improved the Kodi playing.  It was late last night so I could only watch for a bit, but it seemed like maybe it was improved.  Will try more tonight.

But is there any settings or setup on the server PC that would improve the play on the OTA channels on the client?  Is it just a matter of the network?  But if it's the network, would the IPTV streams be expected to play perfectly while the HDHR streams choke?  Would upgrading to a modern HDHR device make a difference?

Just looking for any thoughts or suggestion, thanks again.

  EPG missing sub-title for movies
Posted by: dazed - 2020-05-13, 08:50 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (15)

Can see in the db it doesn't add the sub-title for movies.

Data from schedulesdirect shows this

Code:
<programme channel="guide2go.49611.schedulesdirect.org" start="20200513213000 +0000" stop="20200513233000 +0000">     <title lang="en">The 'Burbs</title>     <sub-title lang="en-GB">A man and some neighbours try to prove their theory that a new family are part of a murderous cult.</sub-title>     <desc lang="en-GB">An overstressed husband becomes obsessed with finding out the secret of his mysterious new neighbours. Concocting a series of increasingly outlandish schemes to discover the truth about the weird sounds he hears coming from the basement next door, the man settles on the theory that the family are a front for a cannibalistic cult.</desc>     <category lang="en">Comedy</category>     <episode-num system="dd_progid">MV00286782.0000</episode-num>     <icon src="https://schedulesdirect-api20141201.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/assets/p11474_v_h10_aa.jpg" height="1080" width="1920"></icon>     <video>       <quality>hdtv</quality>     </video>     <audio></audio>     <previously-shown start=""></previously-shown>   </programme>
Quote from the guy at guide2go who fixed this on github
Quote:That makes sense. There are three key words in SD that are evaluated.
  • EpisodeTitle (Used for the SubTitle)
  • Description100 (Not used)
  • Description1000 (Used for the Description)
I looked at the code from the old version, where Description100 was used for the subtitle if there was no EpisodeTitle.

HP mini remote setup for NextPVR/Kodi
Posted by: bluesight - 2020-05-13, 08:06 PM - Forum: Linux - No Replies

This is a link to a Kodi forum post discussing how to set up an HP mini-remote on Linux (under lirc). Maybe it is also of interest here....? You can get these remotes for ~$5 and the receivers for about $10. Looks like:

Can't import second Schedules Direct lineup...
Posted by: Len_Lekx - 2020-05-13, 07:53 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (11)

I know I'm doing something wrong...   Sad

I'm trying to set up my secondary capture card to show/record from my cable STB.  When I go to the Devices page on the Web app, it doesn't seem to want to use my Canadian postal code.  Question - do I need to use the space and capital letters, or does it not matter?

(Since I screwed up by entering the wrong password for my Schedules Direct account, I've been temporarily locked out.  Being the lazy sot I am, I'll try again tomorrow...)

PostProcessing.sh Fails if Recording Has Single Quote in Name
Posted by: pkscout - 2020-05-13, 05:35 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (3)

OK, some of this is on me, and I can probably work around this, but I noticed today after 3 times trying to record Ender's Game from my analog encoder that there appears to be a bug in the way movies are being named (specifically their enclosed folder).

I've attached my logs.  The pertinent part is at 06:13 on 05/13/2020.  You can see that the recording for Ender's Game starts, and at some point NextPVR decides it should use Enders.Game.(2013).ts as the file name, but it continues to use the DIRECTORY name of Ender's Game (2013).  That causes ParallelProcessing.sh to fail with the following error:

bash: -c: line 0: syntax error near unexpected token `('

That's a problem for me because my channel blaster script uses ParallelProcessing.sh to help make sure the recording is actually working (and turn on the cable box if it isn't).  I can obviously code around this on my end by assuming the recording is fine unless I get absolute confirmation it isn't, but it seems like the folder name needs to be renamed (or at least single quote escaped in the bash call) to avoid this issue.

BTW, I've posted this in the general area because it likely affects both Docker and Linux (not as sure about Windows).  I happen to be using Docker in my case.

  Docker image version
Posted by: thecubasekid - 2020-05-13, 02:52 PM - Forum: Docker arm32v7 - Replies (5)

Hi Folks,

i just set up docker on a couple of S905X devices, using local storage for buffer and a mounted smb share for recordings. All is working good so far, however, when i log in to the web app, on the 'about' page, i see the below;

Version: 5.0.2.200322  (5.0.4.200428 is available for download)

running the below command suggests i am on the latest (i think - i come from windows background rather than Linux!)

Code:
nextpvr/nextpvr_arm32v7:latest

how do i upgrade the docker image to the latest, or is it expected that the docker image is a little behind the main release?

Thanks!!

Everything was working perfectly now suddenly I can't login to the web app, it just keeps saying "login failed".  I tried changing the user/password in the config.xml with the same result.

Kodi Leia on Shield - issue playing while recording
Posted by: PeterWeb - 2020-05-13, 01:54 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (6)

Kodi v18.6 on Nvidia Shield 2019
NextPVR Client 3.3.19
NextPVR Version: 5.0.4.200428 on Windows 10

For some time now (at least weeks, including when using the earlier 5.0.3 NextPVR) I've noticed that Kodi has been randomly dropping out of playing a recording while it is recording. Doesn't matter if I started recording 2 minutes vs 20 minutes ago, it may just suddenly return to the Kodi record menu. Typically it first happens about eight minutes after I start playing.

If I go back in, I'm usually given a "resume from" option, but sometimes it just starts again at the beginning.

It can sometimes recur - even several times - but doesn't always. If I happen to be towards the end of the recorded time (e.g. 2-3 minutes from the end), the problem seems to be more frequent, but I wouldn't say it's reliably related to that issue.

Usually it's while I'm watching something like a scheduled news recording, typically about 20 minutes behind live time. I will ordinarily be skipping commercials when they happen, thus slowly getting closer to the end of the still-accumulating recorded data as time goes on. There may be manual pauses as well as skips but it doesn't happen in association with them (e.g. immediately after one) and I've certainly seen it happen when there have been none such, i.e. just start playing it and it may happen eight or so minutes later.

I did some testing with logs on and have provided a log where I saw it happen roughly eight minutes into playing the Formula E - Race At Home program. I'd started playing it about eight minutes after it started recording, but the coincidence in times is just that I think.

Note that an earlier test of a "Army Wives" recording where I started playing about 20 minutes after recording started didn't show the problem.

I hope this provides enough info to go on, it's certainly happening often enough in my setup that it should be observable in similar conditions.  Thanks!

I still haven't figured out how to attach zipfiles on this forum "Browse and add attachment? What browse?" - so for the time being the logs will be at https://www.dropbox.com/s/oo9fav0w3smzy1...i.zip?dl=0

  Artefacts on random recordings
Posted by: march - 2020-05-12, 09:10 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (20)

Hi Guys ( Great product btw) Recordings are perfect on every channel. But I do get the odd recordings that are full of artefacts. I'm starting to lean on the 4 port USB hub i have. I actually went from an older one that had a lot more recordings that had artefacts to the newer one ( still 5 years old ) that had a lot less.
I'm starting to think i should have two ISB hubs and spread the load maybe and have two usb tuners on each instaead of 4 on the one usb hub.
Here are some logs when recording friends.

Friends_20200509_19001930  - worked
Friends_20200509_19302000 - didn't had artefacts all through it when replayed on TV
