  No BBC
Posted by: LoneSkinWolf - 2020-01-22, 06:27 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (11)

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and then found out there was no WMC.
WMC on Windows 7 worked perfectly.

So I've tried PVR after PVR with my DVB-T Dvico twin tuner card and all have the same issue.

I can never get the BBC channels.

I can get all the others ITV, Channel 4 etc.

I cannot for the life of me workout why.

I've spent hours researching on the web and cannot find even a hint of a solution.

Can anyone assist?

Thanks.

Can NextPVR switch graphics mode to best match content ?
Posted by: madbrain - 2020-01-22, 02:45 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I normally run my HTPC desktop at 3840x2160 @ 60 Hz.

When I play DVD or Blu-ray discs using JRiver MC, the application is able to switch resolution and frequency to match the content.

Can NextPVR do the same ?

The reason I want this is to take advantage of my display's motion enhancement (frame interpolation) which is really quite good. The display is an Optoma UHD65 4K projector.

By downgrading the video mode to 1920x1080 @ 30 Hz, ATSC broadcasts look much smoother, as the display's motion enhancement is engaged.
I can do this manually from the nVidia control panel, but I'm wondering if NextPVR could do that automatically when in full screen mode.

  Windows 10 Record Issues
Posted by: Captain Jack - 2020-01-22, 01:44 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

Following the announcement by MS that Windows 7 is no longer supported, I have upgraded my OS on the desktop to Windows 10.  Whereas I had no problems with NPVR on W7 and recordings never failed when the PC was in sleep mode, I cannot get NPVR to record in the same way on W10. I have tried various obvious steps, like removing the sign-in on W10 when coming out of sleep mode, and ensuring the NPVR Recording service is running before putting the PC into sleep mode, but the PC stays asleep and the recording is just ignored and fails. I have also checked the BIOS settings and made all the "Wake Up" settings Enabled, but still no luck. But if I take it out of sleep mode manually, the recording starts with no problem (while still in the time window).

And just as a final check, I installed NPVR and the (USB) digital TV decoder on my Dell laptop, checked I could receive Live TV, but it too does not come out Sleep Mode to record a programme; so I assume it must be an issue with NPVR.

Can anyone help resolve this?

Skip causes fast-forward to the end of the file
Posted by: madbrain - 2020-01-22, 07:40 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I just installed NextPVR this weekend. I have two Hauppauge cards - one HVR-1800 and one QuadHD, total of 5 ATSC tuners.
I ran into an issue where any skip causes fast forward to happen very quickly to the end of the file.
This is the same with the right arrow or "skip track" media key. This happens inconsistently, but most of the time. Same problem if I click somewhere in the timeline at the bottom. Makes it very hard to use the PVR.

I am using NextPVR 4.2.5 .  CPU is Ryzen 2600. GPU is nVidia GT1030. Windows 10.

I did some google searches before posting here, and found a pre-existing bug that was fixed in 4.2.1 :
From https://www.videohelp.com/software/NextP...on-history :
- fixed issue where sometimes when skipping back during playback, it could start fast forwarding very quickly to the end of the file

What I'm seeing is the same problem, but with skip forward. Maybe only half of the bug was fixed ?

Also, today I installed Comskip . The problem also occurs at the automatic commercial skip. It first skips to the right spot after the commercial, but then plays extremely quickly all the way to the end.

  On Demand capture
Posted by: mvallevand - 2020-01-22, 12:30 AM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (8)

Would any STB users be interested in having on demand recording in NextPVR?  I roughed in the code today and it works but it is a bit tedious because of two factors

- typical cable lag on keystrokes (this STB is older and is always slow even manually but for $15 I can't complain)
- annoying Kodi buffer time, it's fine at startup but you see the buffer OSD come on which means you need to wait for keystrokes.  I need about 8 seconds between keystrokes so end up doing a lot of counting

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B98P_XJ4...e=youtu.be

If no one wants this, this code works well enough for my purposes and I don't need to formalize it.

The advantages for me with this approach are

- the on demand channel sometimes only has a couple of weeks older shows so I need to record shows while I catch up.
- navigation is disabled in on demand and there are still some commercials
- I can only pause on the STB for 24 hours, afterward I lose the resume point.  Combined with the no navigation that is quite annoying
- recording PPV

For the technical side this Kodi addon is shown running on my Windows PC, it starts the On Demand Channel in NextPVR  on linux (my tuning script is set to ignore the blasting command for this channel) and everything is done by controlling the STB remotely by LIRC in my closet with my backend .  The recording is just a manual recording.  The lircd file needs to control more than just numbers.

Error message at startup on clean install
Posted by: jcjefferies - 2020-01-21, 09:28 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (6)

[attachment=542]I reset my Windows 10 test server then did clean install of V5. Running NextPVRServer.exe it detects my new SAT>IP tuner then about  gives an error. A second computer with Windows 10 which has never had NextPVR installed gives the same error message. With no local tuners installed there is about a 30 second pause before the error

Client shows channels & guide but browser does not
Posted by: markn62 - 2020-01-21, 04:42 AM - Forum: Windows - Replies (9)

Ver 5.0.1.200103, started with empty.db3 & imported trial m3u & xmltv epg.  All looks fine in the client but channels and guide tabs are empty via browser. Tried process and service, same. Tried 3 fresh imports, same.  Oddly the browser can "search" programs fine. Suggestions?

  Port 8867
Posted by: jcole998 - 2020-01-20, 07:07 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (1)

I have V5 assigned to port 8867. I recently noticed the following in the on-screen rolling log:

I used WHOIS to find this IP and it reported "https://www.abuseipdb.com/check/66.240.219.146?page=2", CARInet Inc.

Should I be worried that this is a sign of a hack?

Thanks.

M3U not updating after excluding categories.

The M3U doesn't seem to be updating channels for categories I selected after excluding other categories. It will update if I completely redo the device. Let me know if you need a log. Thanks

Automation for moving finished recordings between different storages/directories
Posted by: aderlopas - 2020-01-20, 03:13 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Hello,

It would be great if we could have an automation to be able to move a recording file once it has just finished being recorded to another drive/directory and link to it updated automatically.
as we all know, recording quality and stability requires a fast storage (I have tested for instance recording on a generic 128GB sdcard that supports 8 mbps and it was not stable) and this type of storage costs money as we all know and it is not unlimited. So I would like if possible to create a mechanism that after a recording has finished being recorded, to be automatically moved to another storage/directory of my choice (that obviously netpvr has access to...possibly sd card, SAN, or other type of storage) that may be cheaper and less fast, and i would still be able to access it from nexpvr clients (i.e. link updated automatically to the new recording location).

Can this be done?
