  Blank screen when playing AVI
Posted by: zaldwaik - 2005-11-02, 06:09 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I am trying to play AVI files through GB-PVR and all I get is a blank screen. I have to shut down the sofware to get out of that. The AVI files play fine in WMP and PowerDVD (my default decorder). I looked at the logs, and nothing shows up after starting the pay xxx.avi file. Any ideas?

Video Archive -- use external player
Posted by: chud - 2005-11-02, 05:52 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (3)

i'm super impressed by most of the plugins that people have taken the time to write to extend GBPVR. really good stuff.

i currently find myself in the situation where i use both My Videos and Video Archive to sort through, select, etc, the recordings and movies on my system. i like aspects of both of these plugins.

what would really do it for me with Video Archive is if i could specify an external player to view videos (i use Zoom Player) as can be done in My Videos. my second request would be to make it a bit snappier, but i can live with that...

Fullscreen / window mode switch while in Live TV
Posted by: chud - 2005-11-02, 05:40 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

maybe it is just me, but for whatever reason i find myself wanting to be able to switch between fullscreen and window mode while watching Live TV (or using the internal video player for that matter). i think most other media players allow this, so i would image it is possible in GBPVR. the switching works everywhere else in GBPVR, just not when watching video.

  Stream Recordings from WebAdmin?
Posted by: jtrahan - 2005-11-02, 04:39 PM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (7)

Has anyone had any luck streaming recordings from the new WebAdmin plugin? I can click play on the recording and open the m3u file in Media player, but media player then says connecting down at the bottom and never starts playing the recording.

Just wondering if anyone else esperienced this? Also, I can copy the recorded mpg file to my pc and play it that way.

Thanks

How do GB-PVR start the external channel changer?
Posted by: blader_se - 2005-11-02, 04:31 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Using the USB-UIRT command line tool to change channels fails for me (see thread USB-UIRT InterCodeDelay - does it work?)when a recording starts. Everytime else it works (from the TV guide etc). Switching to channel 12 results in two changes, first to channel 1 and then to channel 2, i.e. there is a too big delay between the invokations to uutx inside the bat file.

What are the GB-PVR doing differently while starting a scheduled recording vs plain channel changing reagrding cpu/disk usage?

So could I make the call for channel changing be made with a higher priority, in blocking mode or something, just to get it the cpu it needs to switch to the correct channel?

I know I'm pretty alone with this really stupid reciever so I understand if you don't want to do anything about it, but I really would like to know what's going on. (I've also asked Jon if he could make a special version of uutx that can send more than one code in a single invocation.)

  Dead quiet fans for HTPC
Posted by: limiter - 2005-11-02, 03:51 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I have a Silverstone LC11M case for my HTPC and it was loud enough to annoy me so I went and bought a replacement Heatsink and 2 80mm fans made by Arctic Cooling for the case. I had the stock 80mm fans and the AMD stock fan and heatsink and they were unacceptable for a living room setting. The Arctic Cooling fans were quiet enough that when I turned on the case I heard nothing but the hard drive and thought I messed something up to the point of swearing at it. Turns out they were just dead quiet.

Now if only I could get a softer hard drive...

I don't work for Arctic Cooling, I just thought someone else might be interested in finding some quiet fans for their HTPC case.

MVP Net Radio always records shows
Posted by: JimF - 2005-11-02, 02:15 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

When I listen to a Net Radio station with the MediaMVP, it always records the show as an .mp3 file on my host PC, in the same directory where my GB-PVR videos reside. I don't see any way to disable that. Surely that is not the way it is supposed to work?

Set channels to default to disabled?
Posted by: 4zm4r3d02 - 2005-11-02, 12:40 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

When I opened up the TV guide to schedule some recordings today, there were channels there that I've never seen before, and did not enable. There were a bunch of "foreign" (non-US) channels, as well as Sirius music channels(I have The Dish Network satellite service).

Is there any way to configure GBPVR so that each channel is disabled unless you specifically enable it? As it is now, I have to go through and disable each of the channels I do not want. When I first started using GBPVR, I had to disable hundreds of channels, as they all were enabled by default, including all of the pay-per-view and local channels.

Or, is this something to do with Zap 2 It?
