UK Freesat scanning, easier way to find viable channels
Posted by: Red5ive - 2020-01-13, 04:10 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (32)

So I have a couple of Hauppague DVBS/S2 cards in my HTPC that I used to use with DVBLogic and Windows Media center.
Problem was they were always a pain to manage, you get loads of duplicate channels with no easy way to know which ones are viable or in the correct region without first adding them and switching to each channel once to check. I hoped NPVR would make the process easier.

When I go to the channel scan screen I can select 0282 / Astra 2E/2F/2G (28.2E) and after I press Scan Channels and a long wait later I get around 130 different channels found but with say 6 Channel 4's and seven ITV's etc.
I see that there are 3 boxes next to the frequency selector dropdown that on my system are set to 9750, 11700 and 10600, are we able to change those figures to only scan withing the ranges we can actually pick up? If so where would I finf the info to scan just the UK freesat channels?

I also have a newer Hauppage quad DBV C/T card. Under it's settings you can select from country/region from a long list. My nearest would be UK, Anglia, Sandy Heath. If I select that I get a much more concise list of channels with no duplicates. Is there a way to implement a similar way for satellite scanning?

I had hoped to just use the freeview DVBT tuners and maybe have the DVBS satellite tuners as backup but my reception is not great and I seem to loose channels or not be able to tune to some previously scanned ones, If I repeat a scan several times it can report back anything from 40 odd channels to 111.
On a related note I see that there are two 'Sandy Heath' listings, one with the date Feb 12 2020 and the other Jul 17 2018. Am I supposed to be using the newer listing or is that only fully active after the Feb date? If I scan with the older listing will I need to re-scan with the new listing after Feb 12?

  HDHomeRun channel lock
Posted by: pdc - 2020-01-12, 08:08 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (3)

I am working on a raspberry pi 24/7 NextPVR v5 server, and I think I have everything set up and working. My tuner is a networked HDHomeRun Connect Quatro, Model: HDHR5-4US.

I have a Windows NextPVR v4 server set up with the same recording schedule and configuration.

The first time I set up a scheduled recording on the raspi, it failed with:

Code:
Recording Error: No errors, but no data delivered. This is usually because the device failed to lock a signal.

Now since my Windows NextPVR v4 server is set up to run at the same time, I suspect they both tried to get tuner 0 and the raspi lost the race.

However, what I was expecting to have happened was the raspi would see that tuner 0 was in use and try tuner 1 instead. Both servers are time-synced so a race condition seems possible, but if the device fails to lock a signal is there some reason it doesn't try the next device?

I set up the raspi to use the opposite tuner order, starting with 3 and working down to 0, and that seems to be working. I'm just a little concerned that with four tuners available a recording failed and want to understand any limitations with sharing the tuner.

Thanks!

  Unset remember me / logout
Posted by: ceejayemm - 2020-01-12, 05:32 PM - Forum: NextPVR Support - Replies (11)

Raspberry Pi 4B 4GB Memory
Version: 5.0.1.200103

In a recent release the 'Remember Me' feature was added.  Having set the option on login to remember me, how do I then unset this option or logout of the web app ?

The problem I am facing is that I having moved my recording to a new location I cannot seem to reimport the recordings to NPVR, This is what I did:

exported my recordings to an XML file using the Export Recording option
Editted the XML to reflect the new location for all recordings and saved the XML file.
Deleted all my existing recordings via the web app from the old location
Changed my default Recording location
Imported the updated XML file.

At this point the app told me 'No recordings imported'. I tried again but the XML file would not open in the Import Recordings dialogue box. I zipped up the XML into a Zip file  and tried to import that, no success same error message.  At some point I got the message 'No recording imported. Not logged in' (hence my request above) but after trying several combinations of XML/Zip file import I can't now remember how this came about.

Is there a limit on the size of an imported XML file (would be surprised if there was as this file was essential generated by NPVR and only slightly altered by me, not changing the file size substantially).

Do I need to delete all my scheduled recording before I can import the revised XML file ?

Logs attached - nrecord.log files only as npvr.log doesn't seem to be created on PRPi / Linux ?

Any other thoughts as to how I can get my recordings back into NPVR without reinstating my original location ?

Thanks

Chris

  Artwork for Recorded Shows
Posted by: ChrisI - 2020-01-12, 04:55 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I have many shows that I am recording, and NCIS is the only show that does not display any artwork.

I tried clearing the icon cache, and giving it time to repopulate.

Now, NCIS has a background, but no poster.  But NCIS: New Orleans now has a poster, but no background.

Any ideas what is happening here?  Is there a way for me to go in manually and fix this?

Is there a setting somewhere where I can increase the time NPVR will wait to lock onto a signal before showing an error?

  NPVR Hangs when Changing Channels
Posted by: BorchertD - 2020-01-11, 05:37 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I have an intermittent issue with NPVR hanging when changing channels.  Sometimes it'll hang for 30-40 seconds and then change the channel.  Other times it'll take about a minute and indicate that the tuner is in use for a recording; this failure type failure is included in the log file attached.  Other times I have to close the app and restart.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software but no help.  The software is running on a Windows 10 PC, 64 bit, 32G RAM.  I switched to NPVR after the Win 10 pro upgrade from Win 7 pro.  I previously used WMC with zero issues and no latency when changing channels.  The tuner card is a Hauppauge WinTV 885 ATSC.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

MCE Remote Opens NextPVR Behind Other Windows
Posted by: 1sae - 2020-01-11, 09:59 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

Hi there I recently switched over from win7 WMC to NextPVR v4 on a clean Win10 x64 install.  I have most things running pretty smoothly except for starting NPVR with the MCE remote.  I have the config set to launch NPVR with the MCE remote and to run in full screen.  The problem is when I do this it's behind any other windows and the taskbar.  Even if I have no other windows open, it's still behind the taskbar and unresponsive.  Unless I use my mouse to click on NPVR nothing works.  I have checked "always on top" a number of times but it's always unchecked when I restart the app.

This only seems to happen if I launch NPVR with the remote, if I use my mouse to click on the shortcut, it works fine.

Is there a setting in the config.xml file that I missed or something else I can try?

  Schedules Direct Channels not Updated
Posted by: SilverTiger - 2020-01-10, 08:47 PM - Forum: Windows - Replies (4)

OK, so Verizon FIOS Philadelphia swapped channels 829 (ACCNetwork) and 571(ESPN Goal Line).  If I go to my schedules direct account and look at a report, they are correct.  However, in the NPVR guide, they are still the old configuration (including the programs).  Anyone know if this is a schedules direct issue or NPVR issue?  Can I fix it?

  Watch live transcoder fails
Posted by: rjbeep - 2020-01-10, 07:24 PM - Forum: macOS - Replies (15)

Hi folks,

I seem to be the only one taking up your time with mac issues. I hope that means there aren't a bunch of mac users and that I am not just a problem child here Undecided

new issue...

npvr Version: 5.0.1.200103
using up-to-date chrome as web browser on two different machines (so I don't *think* it's the client side)
ffmpeg 4.2.2

seems to be recording fine
can play back the recordings fine in web client
can't watch the channels live in the same web client interface[attachment=475][attachment=475][attachment=475][attachment=475]

Anyway.. some logs attached that should show a recording session of less than 10min and a failed effort to watch live.

.zip   logs-20200110-1342.zip (Size: 228.02 KB / Downloads: 3)

oh, one more data point... I have the SiliconDust HDHomeRun app on this mac also and it pops up just fine and pretty quickly when I go to watch the exact same channel live. hope that helps.

Thank you again for your assistance.
