GBPVR records perfectly - until the PC is used for something else!
Posted by: jonmck - 2005-09-05, 11:57 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

GBPVR works perfectly for all recordings until I am using the PC for something else. Low demand things like WWW and email are fine, but playing music on winamp cause glitches

Also, I have two Tv cards a Compro T200 and a PVR 250 - when both are recording at the same time, the Compro is full of glitches and the PVR is fine (obviously bcs it is a hardware based card)

Is there anything I can do about this?

Thanks

  What do you think?
Posted by: sdwilson1 - 2005-09-05, 11:20 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

Hi
My question is this. I have a MVP, Nothing else, I only bought it to basically watch back video files/music that i have on my computer. Now Im not the biggest fan of the software that comes with it (clunky slow annoying) but the main thing that annoys me is the fact that any time I have a new folder with lots of files in I have to go into the software and add that folder.

Now

A: is it worth me installing the GB-PVR software do you think? (In your opinion is it better or is it mainly for if your streaming tv through your computer)

B: Does the GB-PVR software let you point to a folder then any sub folder you add it will automatically pick up? (If that makes sense?!?!)

Cheers for your advice/opinions

  Setting up PVR-500MCE FM Tuner
Posted by: fhmanas - 2005-09-05, 07:55 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

I've been trying to access the FM tuner of my PVR-500mce but whenever I scan it just stops and doesn't scan at all. When I manually place a frequency I get the audio of the current tv channel.

I followed the instructions from the WIKI and downloaded LAME and registered it. All was succesful but no radio.

Any help is most appreciated

  GB-PVR screen saver on MVP
Posted by: JWJr - 2005-09-05, 06:56 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

I'm having two problems with the GB-PVR screen saver on MVP:

1. Using the MVP's built-in screen saver, the SS kicks out (and the timer resets) whenever the screen content changes. The GB-PVR SS doesn't do this. This results in (1) picture slideshows falling in the SS after 1 minute, and (2) new song names never showing up on the NetRadio screens.

2. When the Hauppauge SS kicks in, pressing any key brings you right back to where you where. OTOH, when the GB-PVR SS kicks in, pressing any key returns you to the main screen, requiring one or more buttonpresses to return to the previous page.

Thanks! -JW

  Sapphire Theatrix Capture problems
Posted by: cagapiou - 2005-09-05, 06:45 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (8)

Hi,

I have recently installed a Sapphire Theatrix onto my system (MSI P4 3GHz 1GB) which already had installed onto it a WINTV PVR150.

Both cards work OK in LiveTV mode, with the Theatrix being more sensitive to the antenna signal strength and showing some synchronisation problems.

When trying to capture however with the Theatrix GBPVR captures at 720x480 although the transmitted signal is PAL B/G.

I have tried all quality settings and I get the same results. I have captured with the Teatrix using the bundled software PowerCinema (which I don't like at all and I only installed for this test) and the result was OK.

I would appreciate if you could let me know what I need to change so that theatrix captures in PAL mode and also if the audio sync problems it shows compared to the WINTV should be considered normal.

Thanks a lot for your help

  Update existing programs in EPG
Posted by: GoodGuys - 2005-09-05, 06:16 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (21)

Hi Sub,

Basically, I want GBPVR to update the EPG in a way that allows changes to show already in the database. Here's a couple of reasons:

  1. Usually, CSI shows on Israel1 Sundays 21:45. Last week, Israel1 thought it will have to change schedule for yesterday, and when I downloaded EPG, CSI was not there. But it still aired last night. I got lucky.
  2. In major cases of crisis, or cases of extreme events in the news, all 3 Israeli channels tend to shift shows, cancel shows, for the coming day or two. I am not talking about the breaking-news flashes - these I know I can't do anything about.
Since my EPG downloads 6-7 days in advance, whatever changes they make to the schedule after that, is never going to show up. I have both cable and satellite. That's a lot of channels. That's a lot of channels that can give me those kinds of trouble.

I know you said it won't change, but I still want to list is in the Wishlist, maybe see how many people suffer from this issue like me.

Maybe there could be some other solution?

Thanks,
GGF

  Timeshift Channel Change Stutter
Posted by: Ambro - 2005-09-05, 02:57 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have read into some threads but I can't see that this problem has been encountered before.

Currently I have perfect playback with recorded files and when first tuning to a channel. No stuttering, fast REW & FFWD work really well. The problem is when I change channels whilst I'm watching one - 80% of the time I get the 2sec freeze with 1sec catchup stutter. This is instantly resolved if I hit REW/FFWD - never to be experienced until I change channels again.

I use the timeshift feature (tested with 250 to 1000ms buffer), latest drivers for both DVB-T cards (Twinhan & a locally diributed DNTVlive), Cyberlink Mux with Nvidia Video & Cyberlink Audio codecs. The PC is XPpro SP2, a fast spec machine, which hasn't experienced this problem with any other software. I have also swapped the quartz.dll, tried different Muxers & Codecs, all to no avail.

When trying Reclock to correct the issue it indicates that what is being shown is at 8 frames a second (not the 25 which is what it should be here in AUS). The problem does not get resolved if I lock Reclock's frames to 25fps.

Any ideas? - It's not a biggy to hit REW/FFWD to correct the issue, but it would be good to not see it at all.

Other Time Period Options for EPG Update
Posted by: jksmurf - 2005-09-05, 01:31 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

This wish may be related to my misunderstanding of how GBPVR works, so bear with me, but at the moment there is an option to update the EPG daily (only), although you can choose which time of the day.

My xml grabber (TvXB) allow me to choose any number of days, so I checked the TV channel pages and they post between 7 to 14 days of schedules in advance and I set my grabber to 7 days.

If the grabber takes these schedules, and you set the EPG to update, surely the EPG already has between 7 to 14 days of schedules in advance in its listings?

So if I wanted to update the EPG say onyl 1x a week, (this the request, for a button that allows a LONGER period), does this make sense or does GBPVR need to have the schedule updated daily, or is there some other drawback e.g. a season recording or something?

Thanks

k.

  MVP drops connection playing MPEG
Posted by: groover km - 2005-09-05, 12:21 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (12)

I seem to have developed a sporadic problem over the last couple of weeks, and I have been unable to pinpoint it - I will be playing an MPEG2 file over the MVP and it will lose connection without any remote buttons pressed. This can happen anywhere from 10-60mins into the file.

Below is an except from the log, which shows the error reported (everything above in the log looks fine, to my untrained eye):

GBPVR version, 0.93.10.

Any ideas? Thanks.
