Am I correct in assuming that the 45 button Hauppauge remote will work with the 500 card? Can anyone suggest a place with decent prices for remote that will work with this card?
I see the Microsoft remote kit is on Ebay....I assume this will also work with the 500.
Finally, is there any way to get the 34 button remote to work with it?

Two main things...
1) I'm having problems with my video and audio synching. Seems that the audio is like a fraction of a second slower than my video.. is there any way to compensate for this?
2) When I play DVD's some work, others don't. Most of them willplay fine, however on newer ones like Attack of the Clones and Spiderman2 as soon as the FBI warning goes by and the movie actualy starts, the refresh on my TV goes nuts! Audio is fine, but the screen looks scrambled. I have to re-boot the system to get back to regular mode. I can't just esc out and try another codec before it works.
Any ideas? I've been pounding my head against the wall all week.. and I have little time these days to play around with it.
I've scoured the message board for an answer to this and haven't really come up with anything. Here's the situation in all it's glory:
Clean install of Windows 2000 along with all service packs and updates on my crappy old Compaq PIII 850 MHz notebook, complete with PCMCIA USB 2.0 card. Original ATI Rage Mobility M1 card has S-video out which goes to the TV.
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-USB2 installed OK, along with supplied Intervideo decoder and WinTV200 software. WinTV2000 picture is surprisingly good, both live and when playing back recordings.
Installed the most recent GB-PVR last week. I love it, the look, the interface, the scheduling app are all I could have hoped for.
But playback within GB-PVR sucks. During LiveTV and Recording playback, the picture is very dark. It's also sort of pixellated-looking, especially in darker areas. This is true whether I play them on the notebook LCD or the TV. But if I record files using GB-PVR, they play back in WMP9 and WinTV2000, and they look great. So right now I use GB-PVR to schedule and record and WinTV2K to play back. This works, but I can see this getting old pretty quickly. So here are things I've tried:
I did the DirectX quartz.dll rollback right after installation but this didn't change anything (picture was not choppy anyway, just dark and pixellated).
I have only two choices for video decoder in the "Playback" config tab: Default and Intervideo CSS. I've tried both with no change in results. Which makes sense in view of the Windows 2K clean install, I assume "Default" probably just uses Intervideo anyway. I've messed with the audio decoders too just for fun, also with no change in picture quality.
I use Overlay, GB-PVR won't let me use VMR7 or VMR9.
I've tried using Live Preview mode with encoder pass-through, and I've disabled Live preview, watching in time-shift mode, no change in picture.
It is possible to change the way playback looks in GB-PVR by messing with Color configuration settings (Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Hue) in WinTV2000, and some improvement can be made, but not to the point where I'm willing to watch it. My video card has some configuration settings, but none that help me.
So that's where I am. As far as I can tell, the Intervideo decoder is the only one on my system. WinTV2000 and WMP use it to great effect while GB-PVR seemingly can't. This is the only problem I'm having with GB-PVR, but it's a pretty significant one. Any ideas? Is there any way to determine whether GB-PVR is actually using the Intervideo decoder?
I'm not at home right now, but I can post screen captures later if anyone things it will help.
How can Is top a recording that I started through Xguide? None of the usual things work. like going into Recordings, selecting the recording and pressing Cancel
first off, i want to thank you guys for this awsome program, this is the first ever program that actually allows me to see and hear what im watching at the same time without lag(i can finally play my dreamcast using adapter) , but I have one prblem, I would like to play my Xbox as well, but that uses composite, and I have a hauppauge pvr150mce(which has the composite inputs), I was wondering if this program can see the composite channel so i can play my Xbox, any help would be appreciated.
When i have a list of things to record it will record the first one on the list, but on the pending list it says that the same show is recording, even if it has been done for 3 or 4 hours. then all the other recordings after that one fail. i just updated GB PVR yesterday, so it is the latest and greatest version, but i had the same problem. this problem makes the whole thing usless. please help.
The other night I was mucking around with the PC trying to sort out some standby issues (and subsequently tuning the machine on and off a lot) but completely forgot that I had a recoding in progress. Obviously I ended up with a completely trashed recording and while accepting that I was completely stupid I wondered how nice it would have been if GBPVR came up with something like "There is a recording in progress, are you sure you want to standby?" Thus I would have resisted the temptation to fiddle and saved myself a subsequent heap of greif from the wife!!
I wouldn't have thought this would be too difficult to impliment - but what do I know - this is a bloke that shuts his machine down 20 times when it's recording
