Disable info bar on Live TV?
Posted by: Darbre - 2005-05-22, 03:24 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Is there a way to completely disable the info bar that pops up when you move your mouse on the screen? My video source is always a Direct TV Tivo. I don't need the info screen at all.

  Digital Cable?
Posted by: dsfreak - 2005-05-22, 02:29 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I recently set up GB-PVR with a Sapphire Theatrix 550 (same as ATI Theater 550 Pro). I have Comcast Digital cable. The EPG (Zap2it) reports information for all channels 1 to 999, but when I try to tune in anything over 100, I get snow. In my case, 82 comes in fine, then the next channel that Comcast broadcasts on is 120 - snow for this and all higher channels.

Am I correct that this is because the higher channels are digital cable channels and that the card just can't deal? Or is there some way to make it work on those channels too? I have noticed other posts where people reference recording on high channels (e.g. 555 - HBO), so it seems like some people are getting these channels. Is a different card required?

  My Pictures can hang
Posted by: capone - 2005-05-22, 02:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

No, not in that way Wink

I was letting it do Random, and every so often it will hang on a black screen. My guess is it is either hitting an unreadable file (corrupt, etc), or the image is missing (if it can hang on that condition).

My question is underwhat conditions could it hang? It'd like to find the offending image and remove it (there's 4k+ images in thumbs db, so I'm not going to be able to track it down visually).

Or, is there a way to make it handle hangs better? Skip when it hits those problems? Even if it could do something diagnostic (like show the image name when it can't read a file so I can move it), that would be great.

It's a great completement to using My Music for background.

  Scanning for channels finds nothing
Posted by: Darkside - 2005-05-22, 11:53 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Using a LifeView DVB-T Duo card.

Used to be able to scan channels but now can not, THe Lifeview DVB software can scan channels and finds most of them with the new release.

In an attempt to resolve this I copied the channel settings for one of the channels and put this into one of the channel ini files.
The scan still came back with nothing almost as if it can not recieve through the card.

any ideas?

Thanks for your help

Web interface too wide for display
Posted by: lchiu7 - 2005-05-22, 09:58 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

This is a strange one. Using the latest release of GB and Firefox as the browser to run the web admiinstration, I am finding that while the browser interface works, the screen image is actually stretched over the right hand side of the screen. To explain - the program listings show up okay but the fields for setting the date and advancing the schedule forward require that I scroll the screen almost one screen width to see.

I am using the standard web adminstration tool (so style sheets etc. presumably)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Larry

Misconfiguration keeps NetRadio from working...need advice
Posted by: malomarski - 2005-05-22, 04:01 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hello folks :p

I've been tinkering around trying to get my USB-UIRT, channel changer settings, etc. configured with my external digital cable box tuner this weekend (no luck) and there is some setting somewhere that must be preventing my NetRadio from streaming...

Any ideas where I could have misconfigured something in GBPVR config that would keep it from working?

I tried streaming *.pls (shoutcast) outside of GBPVR and it works fine. When I first installed GBPVR about one week ago NetRadio was the only thing that worked straight out of the box...

Thanks,
Malomarski

  Encoding for GBPVR and MVP
Posted by: EwanG - 2005-05-22, 01:47 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Since I'm waiting to put GBPVR on the new machine until the new release comes out, I've been spending my time pulling files off the old TiVO with the idea of being able to switch over once everything is setup.

The TiVO mpegs are 480x480 mpeg2 at 4098 bit rate (average) and 192 kbps sound. I want to edit out the commercials, but other than that, is there anything else I should change if I'm going to be using the TV-out of my PVR 350 on the main TV, and plan to drive a MediaMVP on the other TV. I've thought about rescaling to 720x480, but perhaps that wouldn't make a difference?

TIA,
Ewan

WinTV PCI just for live TV?
Posted by: jturner9 - 2005-05-22, 01:41 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I just finally upgraded to a WinTV PVR-150 MCE. I'd like to get the ability to record one show and watch another. I'd figured on buying at least another 150, but can the non-PVR WinTV cards function at all with GB-PVR? I probably should have tried it before I swapped the cards...

  Channel changing issue
Posted by: jdsnov73 - 2005-05-22, 01:40 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I couldn't get the irblaster to work correctly with my PVR-150 for some reason, so I went with a serial connection option using Girder, thanks to a post from CWILLS.

I've got everything working fairly smooth, except for (1) issue. I have a Motorola DCT2224 cable box with digital cable. When I am watching live TV, and say I am watching channel 555(HBOS), and I hit the channel down button to go to channel 553(HB2W), the small box in the upper/center portion of the screen comes up and shows the channel number that is being spit out to the cable box but it doesn't show the entire number sometimes. So, it will only show a "5" and a "3", instead of "553". The cable box will flash "53" and then stay on "555", but the GBPVR OSD will show that it thinks it is on channel "553" like it actually changed the channel correctly. Then if I hit the channel down button again, GBPVR OSD will show that it is trying to go to "551", the next lower channel. If it actually displays "551" in the upper/center of the screen, it will change the channel to "551", and GBPVR will be back on track with the cable box.

It seems like they channel numbers are sent too fast or too slow, and not all the information gets sent to the cable box. It is hit or miss on when it happens, and what channels it has issues with.

Is there a setting that I need to tweak to get a consistant response when I am trying to change channels?

Thanks
