  Desktop support for Xcard
Posted by: JJDChE - 2005-05-11, 04:04 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (7)

One of the major downers people have noted about using the Xcard is that you can't see your desktop when you exit GB PVR. It's my understanding that you can see the desktop in TVedia when using the Xcard. That would be a great feature for Xcard users.

I'm not clear on all the mechanisms at work here, but since the Xcard has a VGA in, I imagine that it would be possible to convert it to the SVideo or component out.

  rewind doesn't work like fastforward
Posted by: Torque - 2005-05-11, 02:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I just read thru 5 pages of search results and didn't find an answer. While watching a recording, fast forward works great, but rewind does nothing. I hit the button and playback is paused for a second or two and then resumes playing or sometimes I have to hit the play button so it'll start playing again. I've resorted to skipping back, then fast forwarding at double or triple speed but that sucks...

Since fast forward works good, I don't want to enable short skip.

What Do You Use to Encode to AVI?
Posted by: landru22 - 2005-05-11, 02:45 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (8)

For those of you who capture in mpeg and re-encode to divx/xvid, I have a question. What program or programs to you use to re-encode to avi? I am mostly looking for a freeware solution (yes, I'm poor!) but would consider purchasing a product if it was highly recommended and not too expensive. I have tried the mpeg version of virtualdub and vidomi but have not been too pleased with the results (scenes with movement not smooth, overall bad quality video). I'm not quite a newbie nor am I an expert so the program should be relatively easy to use. It's also quite possible that I'm not using the correct/best settings in virtualdub or vidomi.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

two xmltv sources with the same channels
Posted by: mbo_osese - 2005-05-11, 01:35 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Dear,

I was (and still am) a little lost in the frequencies-sources-channels thingie. I live in belgium, so I needed to do a frequency copy. I used the frequencies of my provider (telenet) and used freq2reg and freg2xml to copy the data in the registry and in a xml-file.
This works quit good (I added a dummy channel first to gap the 0-channel).

I would like to use a second xmltv source to add epg information. This file is generated via pytvgrab and this works fine. But how can I map the channels of the second xmltv file to the channels of the first file? I used the same id in both files, but this doesn't seem to be sufficient.

Anyone experience with this?

Regards,

mbo

  Better Error Msgs
Posted by: capone - 2005-05-11, 12:51 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

In some part for the user, but as much for you, sub. It would take some extra coding to apply specific error msgs (where possible), but I think you'd cut back on some questions, and allow more experienced uses to help them in the forum.

I perfect example is the error you get when trying to watch TV while recording (and not knowing it). If the msg said "Recoding in progress", instead of what it says now, none of those people would bring the error here.

File size when using DVD2MPG ?
Posted by: Andy38 - 2005-05-11, 11:23 AM - Forum: Old Stuff (Legacy) - Replies (7)

Just wondering if someone could advise me. I've just installed DVD2MPG on my machine so that I can convert my DVD's to mpg which will allow me to view them through tv-out on my hp350.

When I convert to mpg I'm getting the resulting mpg file larger than I expect. When I converted a DVD which had VOB's adding up to about 4Gb the resulting mpg was around 7Gb which seemed large to me.

Is this typical ?

I'm a little limited on space with my current set-up does anyone know a way of reducing the quality and therefore the size of the resulting mpg files.

Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object when using the guide
Posted by: lchiu7 - 2005-05-11, 09:26 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (11)

I am using the standard Skin (Blue) with GB-PVR but this seems to occur with any skin

I am viewing the TV guide and have the cursor set on the first channel in the guide. If I move the cursor up I would have expected the channel guide to scroll to the last channel. But instead I get the error Object reference etc.

Anybody encountered this or have any idea what it could be?

Thanks

Larry

no text for the config program
Posted by: jesse_breaker - 2005-05-11, 07:43 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

OK, my hardware just arrived (pvr-500 and mediamvp). For now I decided to do a fresh install on xp sp2 on a 9800xt system.

Everything went fine, and I had all my drivers working just fine. I installed the pvr stuff, the mediamvp stuff, and it all worked (from what I could tell anyway).

Then I downloaded the latest version of gbpvr (see pic 1), and the I noticed that when I went to run the config tool, a bunch of text was "missing" where there should be text. (see pic 2, 3 and 4). I just took 3 pictures to give you an idea as to the problem. The missing text only seems to be within the config program and everything else seems to be functioning properly.

I am somewhat stuck now since I can't proceed since I can't tell what buttons are what Wink

Can someone please have a look at these pics and give me some ideas as to what I can try next? The display drivers are the latest I downloaded from the web.

Recording problem file size too big
Posted by: yumchajai - 2005-05-11, 06:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi,

I am running windows xp MCE.
I am using a Hauppauge pvr-250 and I'm trying to record DirecTV off a composite connection.
I am able to view Live TV perfectly.

The problem I have is whenever I try to record files, I cannot view them.
I get an unable to render video file. Also the file sizes are way way way too big, about 800mb per minute.

Any help on how to setup the recording is greatly appreciated.

Will

  Video Archiver Beta Available
Posted by: Jeff - 2005-05-11, 05:24 AM - Forum: Community Announcements - No Replies

I am looking for some people that would like to try to next release of the video archive plug-in before it is generally released. I have been using it for a while at home and it appears stable, but I would like to have some more experience with others using it.

Here is what has changed:

* Added the ability to filter previously viewed recordings out of the displayed list. Control F (fast forward on the remote) will toggle this setting. Note that the skin files Preview View skin.xml and List View skin.xml have been updated as part of this.

* Added subdirectory support for DVD2MPEG functions. Use Enter to navigate down in the subdirectory list and Escape to move up to the parent. Note that the DVD2MPEG Dialog skin.xml skin file has been updated as part of this.

* Added phone key like keypad for use with remote to navigate through lists (i.e., typing the number 2 cycles through the characters A, B, C, 2, a, b, c).

* Added phone key like keypad for use with remote to edit DVD names when converting a DVD to MPEG format. In the DVD to MPEG window, use the up arrow to navigate into the DVD name field and the enter key to complete input of the new name.

* Added the ability to change the color of the disk space pie chart. Note that the Disk Space Dialog skin.xml skin file has been updated as part of this.

* Increased the maximum number of hours in the future the VA panel will look for scheduled recordings from 23 to 144 (6 days); the default is still 8 hours.

* Added a new option to configure the starting display mode (list or preview). The default is list. The option is set on the Display tab of the plug-in configuration.

* Bug fix: Calculation of disk space needed for pending recordings was only looking at the minutes needed, not the hours. It now looks at the total time.

* Bug fix: Panel display of upcoming recordings did not properly handle recordings that started at midnight.

* Bug fix: Corrected a mistake that pulled wrong initial setting for VideoFileExtensions from the config.xml file.

Send me a message if you are interested via the forum private message function.

Jeff
