ok here is a simple question using the web panel i am able to log in and view the tv guide but am unable to add recording is i try nothing adds it give me the window to add them but then it never schedukes them
This is essentially the same release as the v0.91.9 release that was posted a couple of days ago. It contained a bug that would stop a few skins working on the MVP, so I disabled downloads of that release so I could fixed the problem. Daylight Savings also happened in a US the next day, so decided to wait a couple of days to see if there was anything else I'd need to address.
Anyway, enough with the excuses....

GB-PVR tries to perform an inplace upgrade, but I recommend you back up your GB-PVR directory in case of unexpected problems.
System plays Live TV just fine through my PVR-350 attached to my Cable and my TV. When a scheduled recording time hits, however, the recording does not occur because the "Capture Device is Missing" and then GBPVR drops out of Live TV and back to the main menu. I am more than a little perplexed by this behavior.
On the Capture Source Tab I have set my Recording Source to "Direct Recording Plugin" and have configured that to have my Capture Card be "PVR 350", my Board Number set to "1" (assume that's based on number of cards in the computer not which PCI slot the board is in), Source to "Internal Tuning" and Tuning to "Cable".
On the Playback Tab I have set the Hardware Decoder to "PVR 350" and the Software Playback options are all set to "System Default". I am using VMR9.
I am not using any third-party plugins, and have only turned off the FM Radio plugin. Am using the Blue skin to the extent that matters.
From what I understand of gbpvr so far, I think the architecture would probably already allow for this. I think it probably just needs some work to make it more integral.
What I'd like to see, is the ability to have a gbpvr "server", which runs the gbpvr GUI, handles guide updates, display, plugins, etc.
Other PC's on the network would run only the recording service, and would handle all recording of shows. That's all they need to do. They could simply poll and update through the gbpvr.mdb database mounted from a shared drive.
There's a few benefits I see to a scenario like this.
I've long been a believer that the "recording" should be handled by a standalone PC dedicated to the task. I've found that to be much more reliable, and I end up with less missed shows due to something I was doing causing instability. If I'm watching a movie and the playback goes south causing the machine to misbehave (less common than it used to be, but still happens), it can impact an in progress or future recording. If they're on seperate machines, one failing is isolated from the other.
For those who are really into this, the ability to split recording off to other PC's allows for more tuners and input sources, which means more parallel recording. You wouldn't be limited to PC slots, or cases where the capture device doesn't co-exist well with others in the same machine. Drop a few low end machines with capture cards in the basement, and you've got a recording farm.
From an architecture standpoint, sharing the gbpvr directory to the recording pc's should give them access to all the config and database data they need. The server PC can query the remotes via IP, which I think it already does, to get thier status. For things like live tv, it can find an available recorder, send it a request to start recording, and read the file from a share, much like it does today.
I have figured out how to look at everyone's signature, though it is a long process to do this manually and not everyone shows off their specs. Or the Specs aren't hardware related. I think I'd like to provide a hardware database of sorts that people could reference, what do you guys think?

I have a machine at home that I am thinking about turning into a media centre. Basically all I need to start with (I think) is a TV Tuner card and a graphics card with output to a TV (plus a soundcard upgrade etc), and some software.
A collegue has pointed me in the direction of BG-PVR. I have a really really silly question ( :p ): how do I control the software (change channels, browse TV guides etc) with a remote? Does the remote come with a TV Tuner card, and will this control GB-PVR, or so I need to sort something else out?
Love the utility! Some usability problems, in my opinion:
-Download of thumbnails would be nice to be automatic and fails with "404" sometimes and kicks you out.
-Use of the "back" button on remote doesn't seem intuitive. I press it to get out of a screen in front and it exits me to the main menu. I'd rather have exiting to the main menu take a few more steps since that's less likely to be required.
-Changes to the "Quality" settings don't seem to take. It always appears as "Medium" when you go back.
