Does anyone know of a free web browser that can be optimized for viewing on TV? I've set IE-6 with "largest" text, but some text still appears small. Also, you frequently end up having to scroll left & right to read web pages. It is very annoying.

I may know the cause of the error I'm getting. Can anyone tell me if this situation is a problem?

I have the "FOOD" network removed from the channel listing in GB-PVR. But I enabled it under Guide2J. When I set a program to record on the Food network I got the above error. Here's the log. Anyone know what's up?

I frequently get an error saying the Date value doesn't match the field data type. I looked at the xml (I'm learning this slowly!) and saw this:

</ScheduleTime>

Most entries just have times, like this:
<ScheduleTime>
<Start time="16:00" />
<End time="17:00" />
</ScheduleTime>

I deleted the date and everything seems fine. Anyone know what's up?

An updated version of RecStatus.exe is now available here: RecStatus-098beta.zip

New features:
1. more detailed listing of current and pending recordings found;
2. option to send an email reporting its results;
3. option to write an .html file reporting its reults (see a sample here);
4. uses RecStatus.cfg for configuration data;
5. includes RecStatus.htm, an HTML-formatted template that RecStatus can use when it generates HTML-output;
6. lists details of all programs currently being recorded (UNTESTED: I only have one tuner, so please try it and let me know :confused: )
7. a few other minor fixes/enhancements;

RecStatus is a command-line, standalone utility that checks to see:
1. whether GBPVR is currently recording one or more programs;
2. whether any recordings are scheduled to commence within a specified timeframe (for example, 5 minutes, 12 hours, 7 days, whatever).
Use it in a batch file to determine, for example, if it is safe to hibernate.

RecStatus returns the following exit codes depending upon what it finds:
Exit code:
0 - ALL CLEAR: not currently recording and no recording pending to start within the specified time window;
1 - ALERT: although no program is currently being recorded, at least one program is scheduled to start within the specified time window;
2 - ALERT: GBPVR is currently recording at least one program;

RecStatus can also be used to generate reports of upcoming, scheduled recordings.
Results can be emailed and/or stored in an HTML file.

For example, I added the following lines to my PostUpdateEPG.bat file:
RecStatus.exe time=1d email=yes ends me an email each night listing the recordings scheduled for the day;
RecStatus.exe time=7d html=yes :generates an HTML file (like this one) listing all of my recordings scheduled for the upcoming week.

Something odd happened this evening when I was about to see an episode of Lost via my MVP.

I have 18 episodes (encoded in mpeg2) stored in a folder and I was about to set everything up (my wife don't have the same patience as me, so everythign should be up when she arrives to the sofa). I played a part of the episode (#12) and it worked great so I stopped.

I then went ahead and tried some films in AVi format and then back to the "Lost" folder to find that the episode #12 file was gone. I have been pressing a lot of keys on the remote, so it's very likely to be a user problem, however, I didn't even see any "delete" option or similar.

I'm running a plain GB-PVR installation with no plugins.

I've looked and chatted and read various forums and information while trying to determine the best MoBo and CPU to get for my dedicated HTPC running GBPVR. My plan was to either run 2 or 3 PVR150s or 2 PVR500mce. I've been told and read that VIA chipsets don't work with Hauppauge PVRs and/or the IR send/receive unit that comes with the PVR150.

Can anyone please tell me if this true or not. The Hauppauge UK forum said the 500mce and VIA and AGP (perhaps PCI video) are repeatable. I have no problem going towards a Celeron D 2.9GHz proc if need be, but the AMD MoBos in SiS and nVIDIA are out there as well..

I may also put out a forum request and collect a hardware database for reference to future GBPVR users, keep an eye out for that!

One of those things where either I've really missed something, or I'm just expecting too much I suppose...

I'm running .91.8 on a Windows XP SP2 machine. I've got the Hauppauge Silver Remote, and have setup Config to "Fix" the Remote and to talk to the remote directly.

However, I find that the remote only works if the GBPVR program has the focus. Which means if I'm doing something on the computer and someone in the room is trying to change the channel, I have to switch to GBPVR for the control to be recognized.

Have I misconfigured something, or is this just something I "should" know?

Hey all,
I'm confused as to why when I try to burn my 2.5gig mpeg file to a standard dvd-r, it shows the file as being 6.5gigs. I'm new to this pvr and dvd burning stuff so any help is appreciated. I read past posts and realize its probably being converted to a larger raw file before burning but is there any way to salvage my already recorded videos to put them on dvd?

I want to be able to easily manually edit the dirs in config..

The reason for this is that Window's doesn't always work Well, to explain better, say I want GBPVR's music dirs to include a network resource "\\josh-pc\Albums\", a lot of the time, no matter what I do to correct the situation, it doesn't let me browse to it via "My Network Places". Sometimes it does. I dunno. And no, "josh-pc" is on and works via Start>Run>\\josh-pc\ before anyone says 'well you probably have "josh-pc" off when it doesn't work!'. I know if I get really stuck I can manually edit the config.xml file, but when I did this the first time I got all sorts of nastiness... GBPVR (or config) wouldn't load again (just crashed before loading) until I deleted the edited config.xml. I edited it with all GB-PVR services off and then ran config.exe and it worked.. but seemingly only if I chose a dir with the same amount of chars first before renaming it to "\\josh-pc\whatever\" otherwise a parse error occurred (which could easily make sense). Or maybe I just did something drastically wrong. Anyway... just a simple one!
