  Start in TV mode
Posted by: jsteele - 2005-04-06, 02:06 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Has there been any thought given to having GB-PVR have an option to start in Live TV mode -- like your TV set :-)

  Skip Forward
Posted by: pbb - 2005-04-06, 02:04 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I'm still pretty new to GBPVR, and need a little help with the skip ahead and backwards functions. I'm using version 09.08 through the MVP. I just downloaded 09.11, so maybe this is all in vain. I love the way my DVD player will allow me to put in the time that I want to skip to in a recording (i.e. if I want to skip 30 minutes into a 60 min. recording I put in 30 and then skip). I saw a post that said if you enter the number of seconds on the number pad and then hit the skip button that GBPVR will skip ahead the number of seconds specified. For me it either only skips ahead the default number of seconds specified in the Config app or it crashes GBPVR. Any suggestions?

Audio and/or visual feedback of remote key press
Posted by: CaptainVideo - 2005-04-06, 01:46 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

A lot of times I press a remote key and nothing seems to happen. I keep pressing only to find out I've filled a buffer and I end up in some strange place.

It would be nice to get a configurable beep or screen flash instantaneously when an IR signal is received and understood.

  MyBlaster Locking GBPVR
Posted by: jbassman - 2005-04-06, 12:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

Hi,
I just purchased the MyBlaster USB infrared transmitter. I am able to go into config and set the device and learn from my cable remote, however once i launch gbpvr and attempt to either watch live tv or record anything it hangs. Any ideas?, I attached the gbpvr.exe.log
Many thanks ahead of time!

  Cheap Wireless Keyboard or Bluetooth?
Posted by: CaptainVideo - 2005-04-06, 12:39 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (3)

Any recommendations on a nice & cheap RF Wireless Keyboard/mouse combo? I want to avoid one with a short range since I'll be 6+ feet away.

I've been hunting for a wireless USB hub which I could plug joysticks, mice, keyboards, etc. I haven't found it.

Should I abandon those ideas and go bluetooth and get a wireless keyboard/mouse that includes a bluetooth hub? They aren't cheap ($170), but bluetooth sure sounds handy.

It seems possible that we may end up with bluetooth remotes, headphones, MP3 players, etc. A bluetooth hub sounds like a great function for a PVR. You could conceivably stream video to your PDA.

Similarly, can anyone explain the varying wireless networking protocols? There's WiFi, there's 802.11b, or something, there's WLAN.

  Does Comskip REALLY use CC?
Posted by: CaptainVideo - 2005-04-06, 12:35 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (6)

Part of comskip is a dictionary used to scan closed captioning for certain keywords appearing in commercials. Can that really happen with GB-PVR? Is the closed captioning part of the MPEG2 file? If so, can GB-PVR display it?

Anyone find the digital tuner cards to be stable/unstable under GBPVR. The 350 card seems stable, I tried recording and the recording service exceptioned, the second attempt there was no sound.

Granted I have a bad digital signal into the box (though the digital TV handles okay). So was wondering is it a card/driver/gbpvr issue, or down to signal quality.
