WinXPMCE / GB-PVR conflict? Unhandled CLR exception.
Posted by: dotcomslashnet - 2005-04-03, 08:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hello,

I am currently running Windows XP Media Center Edition.

I came accross GB-PVR while looking for something to replace MCE. Downloaded 09108 from a cached link on google... current download link (09109) on homepage is dead btw.

As soon as I atempt to run any of the GB-PVR applications I get a unhandled CLR exception. I am thinking that this may well be something to do with the WinXPMCE recording service hogging my capture cards... I'll just go check.

...OK - disabled both the MCE receiver and scheduler services... made no difference, GB-PVR service fails to start and all apps (GBPVRTray, Configure, GBPVR) fail with a similar unhandled exception dialog.

Just rebooted with the same services disabled. Same problem.

Has anyone had the same problem when trying to install on WinXPMCE? I know you could argue that I ought not to need GB-PVR, but I don't want to get into that right now, and I don't want to have to go formatting my disk to evaluate GB-PVR.

I could, of course, be missing the point completely here and there might be some issue completely unrelated to MCE causing GB-PVR not to work. Either way, I would appreciate some assistance.

Adam.

TV402U: Only records first few minutes...
Posted by: lukekb - 2005-04-03, 08:09 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (7)

Hi, I have been having trouble getting my ConvertX TV402u to record TV correctly. It works great for LiveTV, and timeshifting, but unable to record programs correctly.

GBPvr seems to be working correctly, according to the logs it is starting and stopping at the correct times. Also the record light on the ConvertX comes on and goes off at the correct times. The problem is that the record file only has the first minute or so of the recordings in it.

Are any other GBpvr users having similar problems?

I have GBpvr ver 0.91.9 installed. I have both WinDVR and WinDVD creator installed. WinDVR seems to recording correctly.

From the GBpvr logs there are some suspecious stuff ( I'll attach the full logs):

14:30:00.312 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: Plextor ConvertX TV402U Tuner
14:30:00.328 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: Plextor ConvertX TV402U Audio

According to graphedit, my filters are called:
Plextor ConvertX TV402U TV Tuner
Plextor ConvertX TV402U TV Audio

I also get this error, not sure if it related to these filters failing:
14:30:00.906 ERROR ConnectFilters:Failed(2)

This is the graph that GBpvr ends up building:
14:30:00.984 VERBOSE Graph contains the following filters:
14:30:00.984 VERBOSE - File Writer
14:30:00.984 VERBOSE - AVI Mux
14:30:00.984 VERBOSE - MPEG Layer-3
14:30:00.984 VERBOSE - Plextor ConvertX TV402U A/V Capture
14:30:00.984 VERBOSE - Plextor ConvertX TV402U CrossBar
14:30:00.984 VERBOSE - Plextor ConvertX TV402U TV Audio
14:30:00.984 VERBOSE - TV Tuner

So it looks like it finds the Plextor ConvertX TV402U TV Audio filter... but not the Plextor TV Tuner filter.

Also it doesn't use the GBpvr File Writer filter, it uses the generic one instead.

If anyone has solved this problem before, let me know. Also if any TV402u users have it working perfectly, could you look in your logs and see if anything looks different. Thanks!

New Hauppauge drivers released (mostly MCE)
Posted by: bgowland - 2005-04-03, 07:48 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

I just spotted this and thought I'd pass it on (apologies if it's common knowledge). They've released mce_cd_V25 (my previous version was mce_cd_23c).

wishlist: better digital channel mapping, more feedback
Posted by: Syllopsium - 2005-04-03, 07:40 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

The digital channel mapping (at least when using a BDA driver to a Nova-T 909) can be quite to extremely slow with little feedback. The buttons only work between 'n of n' scan stages and the application is not processing its message queue. Some regular indication that the programme is still scanning and has not in fact hung would be very welcome.

  MediaMVP Server Crash
Posted by: WJC - 2005-04-03, 07:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I am having crashes of the MediaMVP Server with the following message:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------
Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library
---------------------------
Debug Assertion Failed!

Program: C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\GBPVR.exe
File: c:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\Vc7\atlmfc\include\atlcomcli.h
Line: 150

Expression: p!=0

For information on how your program can cause an assertion
failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts.

(Press Retry to debug the application)
---------------------------
Abort Retry Ignore
---------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This seems to happen when I close another program on my machine. It does not seem to matter which program that I am running at the time and this occurs intermittently.

I can restart the server manually and everything seems to run fine.

I am curious if anyone has experienced this crash and if they have pinpointed the cause. It has only happened in he latest several versions..

My Videos - video aspect ratio
Posted by: tonydotigr85 - 2005-04-03, 05:30 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

When watching encoded videos (divx/xvid) from My Videos the aspect ratio remains @ what seems 4:3 no matter what the video was created for. Many of the video files I have were meant to be viewed @ 16:9... is there any way that GB-PVR can play according to what the video was meant to viewed at? Don't like watching 16:9 vidz at 4:3. Thanks all!

  Problem with MVP not playing
Posted by: jasjol - 2005-04-03, 05:18 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I got a problem just now when trying to watch via MVP which the kids had been doing an hour ago (although the MVP restarted a couple of times for them).
But when I tried all recordings started at the en of the recording - and in some cases it looked like the arrow pointing where you are was after the end. the time for start was not zero instead it was like 37 min and the en was about the same. (no problem viewing on the computer.)

Edit: when I checked at the computer I had the error screen below.

anyone who knows the reason for this?

(I try to restart everything to see if it works then)

edit2: version 0.91.8

  GBPVR.exe-Unable to Locate COmponent Error.
Posted by: djdafreund - 2005-04-03, 05:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

This appication has failed to start because rtl70.bpl was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. Key word is MAYBE. As i uninstalled everything, deleted the program directory, and reinstalled it, and it stills gives the error message. I narrowed it down to the function "Use Direct Access to Hauppauge Remote.", as once unchecked, it doesn't give me the error message anymore. But the Hauppauge remote doesn't work either. And i prefer to not have to install the Hauppauge IR software.
I checked for other software that might be trying to access the hardware, to see if a conflict is not allowing GB-PVR to see it, causing an error, and remembering i had it checked in "Girder", however once i unchecked it, and disabled-reenabled again, and did the same with GB-PVR, and ran it again, i still am getting the error message.

I'm confused, since i searched through the forums and didn't noticed anyone else posting about this problem. Does anyone have any insites on this? Or the programmers? Thanx guys. BTW- I have a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8000 box, i might have a crack at making a matching skin for the users that like/or are familar with the menu. Maybe even a tivo looking one, which my parents have to use for screens/etc.
