  GB, the 150, and GraphEdit
Posted by: capone - 2005-03-20, 04:29 AM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

So I was playing w/ graphedit, in search of the answer to the sharpness problem (which I finally found, by entering all the avlues in the reg...(user @#*$^ firendly card....).  I noticed the settings in GraphEdit for things like sound quality, bitrate, etc.

If I chage the rec quality for live in GB, it shows up in GE.  So the audio is how I have it set (192/44).  It also had the bitrate (4500...I was testing).  But, when I change it and go back, audio is my normal setting (225/44), but bitrate was 5500...even though I had set it to 6500-7000.

Even though the OSD in ffdshow shows it higher, is it possible 5500 is really the max, and it's just adding bitrate like upping the dpi from 72 to 300 in an image?

I'd be surprised if that it's the case (and I don't think it is), but if it is, it would mean upping above that is a waste.

Has anyone out there tweak around or know the tech specs well enough to know?

  Channel Guide
Posted by: rocky5689 - 2005-03-20, 04:23 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I finally got the tv guide to work. I have few questions:-
Is it possible to change channels while watching a show , I mean when I click on live tv option there is no button to change the channel or hit record while I am watching it.

Get a menu on the left side of the screen, also how can I change channels with my mouse.

  Lost Capture Source in Config.
Posted by: HenkH - 2005-03-20, 03:03 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

For the second time today I 'lost' my Capture Source in the Config application. The previous time I just removed and reinstalled gbpvr, but that also required a renewed channel configuration...

In the Config App I'm getting a fatal exception when I want to add a Capture Source, with the message:

The config.exe.log shows (among others):

  Orginize Recordings
Posted by: isgdre - 2005-03-20, 02:39 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

It would be handing if it was possable to move/delete videos in the Video Library in much the same way we can delete them from the Records area.

Also moving Records to the Video Library would be handy so we can "Save This Video".

If changing the interface to handle directory selection is too painfull on a TV screen. Maybe the Config Program could maintain a "Save To" directory for eacy Video Library Directory Entry they you sould simply add a "Move" or "Save" button under the "Delete" button that is alreay there.

  Recording Status
Posted by: isgdre - 2005-03-20, 02:31 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Would be nice if there was something on the OSD that showed if something was being recorded or now.

Maybe the backgroud of the menus can change as well.

Or even better make it so the "Live TV" does not work while something is being recorded if you only have one WinTV Card.

45 Key Remote and Background Mode
Posted by: isgdre - 2005-03-20, 02:27 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

It would be realy nice if the 45 key remote would work with GB-PVR when it doesn't have focus.

This is realy the only problem that keeps me looking for a better PVR.

  Service Restart Problem.
Posted by: isgdre - 2005-03-20, 02:20 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

If you stop the GB-PVR recording service while it's recording (say to reboot your computer) it closes the current *.mpeg file it was recording to and all seems fine. Then when you start up the recording service it overwrites the *.mpeg file.

It would be nice to be able to restart your computer and only loose the bits during the restart and not everything up to the restart.

  New Video Archiver Release
Posted by: Jeff - 2005-03-19, 11:08 PM - Forum: Community Announcements - Replies (6)

See the wiki site.

New features

* Added the ability to archive files to multiple directories/disks. The archive path property is now used just to indicate the location of the video archive.mdb database. It is no longer used to also specify the archive destination. Instead, the video directories list is used to specify the archive destinations. When you first run the config.exe application and configure the new version of the plug-in, your current archive directory will automatically be added to the list of video directories. Note that this automatic upgrade will only happen if you configure the plug-in BEFORE launching GBPVR. If you first run GBPVR first, you will need to manually add the old archive path to the list of video paths when configuring the plug-in.

There are two archive mode options, set via the Disk Space Settings tab. The default option is “Copy to primary drive first”. If this option is selected, the archive process will, if space is available, archive files to the first location specified in the video paths list. If there is not enough space available on this target it will then try the next destination in the video paths list until it finds a destination with enough free space. The second option is “Copy to drive with most free space first”. If this option is selected, archiving will be done to the location in the video paths list that has the most free space.

* Tracks recordings that have been viewed and indicates them in a different color and/or with icons. To clear the viewed attribute for a file, select the file and press the 0 key. An upgrade to the new database format will happen automatically the first time you launch GBPVR.

* Displays AVI files in the file list.

* Automatically imports information from MyVideos version 2 or MyVideos version 3 databases when starting up GBPVR. Incremental updates can be performed by pressing the GO key (F11).

*Added ability to select network location for video and DVD storage from the config.exe application

* Updated the GetDVDInfo and GetTVInfo utility to work with subdirectories and shortcuts.

* Exposes the DVD2MPEG function as an optional, separate button. The DVD2MPEG function built into video archiver is an update to that provided in the now obsolete standalone DVD2MPEG plug-in. If you just want the DVD2MPEG function, select DVD2MPEG from the config app and do not select Videos. If you want both button select both. Note that the video archive plug-in can display the DVD2MEG screen by selecting the DVD screen (yellow button) and then the blue button.

* Fixed various bugs, most of which were never reported by users but things I came across. Unfortunately
I did not keep a complete list. If you find something now working, please let me know.

Upgrade Notes
# All of the utilities have been upgraded to use the CommonGBPVRUtilities.dll library. As a side-effect, this means that they now need to be located in the main GBPVR directory. If you have installed a previous version of the plug-in, please delete all the .exe files in the Jeff subdirectory.

# This release includes a complete overhaul of the way skins are done for the plug-in. You will need to replace your skin files to use this release. The major changes are:

* Skins for each screen are now in their own file, which adds some redundancy between files but makes it much easier to understand the relationship between items for a given screen and should make skins easier to create and maintain.

* The orientation of the lists (horizontal or vertical) and the arrow keys used to navigate between lists can now be specified as part of the skin.

* The button description is now set in the skin so that it can easily be changed to whatever language or text you would like.

* More information is now available to the skin, including the runtime, viewed/not viewed status, etc.

Videos Play Full Screen vs Widescreen
Posted by: jaredh - 2005-03-19, 10:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (12)

I have a few DVDs that I've converted to MPEGs that play fine in media player, but when I play them in gbpvr they play in fullscreen and cut off the sides of the video (instead of displaying in wide screen). How do I fix this?

Live TV and TV recordings work fine.
