Does VBR cause problems when converting to Divx?
Posted by: stu8080 - 2005-03-13, 10:08 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

I have tons of Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy all those cool cartoons taking up about 100GB of my precious 200GB Hard Drive.

Now i have a DivX DVD player and was hoping to store 10-12 episodes to a DVD and wanted to reduce my 1GB episodes down to about 400MB. When i encode using Auto GK and DrDivX on default settings or higher i get horrible results with sound out of sync and a course scrambled pixelated look.

Before i start to trawl the Divx/Xvid forums i wondered if it had anything to do with VBR or if anyone here had any tips??

Thanks in advance

  Custom Tasks Problem
Posted by: mvpaaagh - 2005-03-13, 07:33 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

I'm having an odd problem with Custom Taks which I'm hoping someone might be able to explain. I have set up a custom task to launch Power DVD in full screen mode. When I execute this custom task from GBPVR on my PC it launches Power DVD in full screen as expected. However, when I execute the same custom task through my MVP, Power DVD launches in windowded mode on the PC. I have also set up a custom task to launch Windows Media Player. Again through the PC it launches as expected but through the MVP I get a Windows Media Player install wizard displaying on the PC. Maybe I'm just doing something stupid. Any input appreciated.

Cannot record nor view live tv with PVR-350
Posted by: tokurvin - 2005-03-13, 07:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I installed GB-PVR to my PC and am able to use it to everything else than what it is intented to, that is Recording and Viewing of TV programs.

I have an Hauppauge WinTV PVR-350 TV card connected to Cable network. I have set up XMLTV to fetch the information, and that works (sort of). I can see the channel setup ok.

But when I select e.g. Live TV then I get:

Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

If I schedule a recording it does not give an error, but the recordings do not contain anything, just 'rain'.

I've attached log files I found if it helps.

Lets see your setup. Post pics.

I've often been curious about what sort of cases etc people are using in the HTPC setup. If you've got a digital camera, how about you post us a pic or two so we can all have a look?

Its bit bright outside, and my digital camera seems to be doing a crap job photographing my setup, but I'll upload some photos later today.

Below is an interesting shot of one of my bookcase shelves. I also have several other devices that are not shown here.

BUG FOUND (TV Guide for the WEB end)
Posted by: SFX Group - 2005-03-13, 06:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Found a bug.

Downloaded TV guide from BLEB, there are 2 channels called ITV2 one is on 36 and another 54, these seem to show fine in the PVR engine on screen as 2 channels one above the other, on the WEB END it combines the channels to ONE LINE making this line twice as long as the others and leaves a blue background where there isnt any data on the other lines to fill.

But it looks like it isnt showing BOTH channels its taking one and printing the listing twice.

Where on one channel there isnt anything at a certain time it says "CLOSE" as the program title.

Can get screen dumps if needed, also means the navigation button for RIGHT is well off the screen by a whole screen amount as 2 channels are on one line making it twice the width (although it isnt showing both channels contents).

Many Thanks
Ashley

Fast Find - Keyboard Design Question
Posted by: Dubya - 2005-03-13, 05:31 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (10)

Hey Jorm,

First, please bear with my stupidity... This is the first time I've really done any windows coding... I'm really keen on learning though. So anyway I thought I would dig into Fast Find and try and redesign the keyboard. Having said that I was wondering if you might be able to tell how I can go about centering the text inside the buttons on the on screen keyboard.

Once again sorry for the dumb question.

Thanks,

Dubya

  XRecord and recording padding
Posted by: bgowland - 2005-03-13, 05:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Somewhere in the back of my mind I thought I saw a mention of this but can't find the post.

Am I right in thinking that if you have more than one tuner that XRecord will take into consideration the pre/post padding and schedule back to back recordings on the different tuners rather than the default GB-PVR approach to put them both on the default tuner?

Cheers,
Brian

  EPIA-M6000 Recommendations
Posted by: lakefire - 2005-03-13, 05:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

HEre are the specs:

120gb WD HD
256 mb ram
Hauppauge 350
EPIA 6000
win2k
Antenna TV

Here's the issue. I can select a channel, and it will start to play. But any time I go back to "home" the whole computer will crash on me. I did not know if there are any tweaks or things to do to increase performance, or conflicts that might be going on. I believe I have the latest downloads from shpvr. It's starting to get a little frustrating. Thanks in advance

  Improvements to Net Radio
Posted by: jeffcora - 2005-03-13, 04:18 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

Sorry if these suggestions have previously been requested or can be done, but I would like to see a couple of (minor?) improvements to the Net Radio capability.

- Ability to group stations together, preferably by Net Radio understanding and being able to navigate through directories
- Ability to specify the storage location. It would be nice to store the pls files in a chosen location, rather under the 'Net Radio' directory where they can easily be forgotten and wiped out during re-installation etc.

Cheers

  ffdshow
Posted by: ChubbyTiger - 2005-03-13, 02:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I've recently started to build a PVR. I'm using GB-PVR (obviously) on XP on an Athlon 1.4 GHz, 512 MB machine. GB-PVR works fine by itself, but if I try to enable ffdshow, even with it not doing anything, my cpu usage goes to 100% on video playback. Do I just not have enough power to run it? Or is something else going on?

Also, does GB-PVR not use ffdshow during time-shifted live TV? During recorded show playback, I can put ffdshow info up on the OSD, but during live TV (time-shift on), I can't show anything up on the OSD and I don't go to 100% cpu, like I do during recorded playback.

So, what's up? Thanks for any info.
