Great GUI Great forum..sorry about new questions.
Posted by: duncanrinaldo - 2005-03-01, 10:01 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Ok..I have just about configured everything on my first ever GBPVR setup. Things are going well. I have two or three nagging little issues I would like settled before I ghostimage my operating drive to secure my setup...
1. In "my pictures" plug in the images are stetched on my 4:3 tv. Is there a way to configure the image size? (I am still learning about the remote control functions.)
2. Is there any way to enter zipcodes other than for the US in the "theatre" plug in? My Canadian postal one does not work.
3. Still can't find a direct show codec that will allow GBPVR to play flac audio. Anybody using one and can point me to the right source?
4. Neat! I just saw while browsing in the forum that I can reassign remote buttons and alter things to make keys work (I hadn't had volume working before). Is there a FAQ section where someone has set out a mini manual on using the remote? Little tips like this could be assembled there. Sometimes the forum responses are too cryptic for newbies.

Sorry to be such a drag on your time. Perhaps after a few months/years of using GBPVR I too will be able to help someone.

  Hauppauge Roslyn - No sound
Posted by: rjbeep - 2005-03-01, 08:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi all,

I've just downloaded and installed gbpvr on a system with a Hauppauge Roslyn card purchased last year from SnapStream (They called it a PVR-250btv).

I set it up in the capture devices as a Direct Recording device/Hauppauge Roslyn and, after turning off the live preview, I was able to get the tuner to show video on all the channels.

Unfortunately, I'm not getting any sound anywhere. If I crank up the volume, I can hear just some high pitched rhythmic beeping, regardless of which channel is selected.

Anyone have any idea how to get the sound working?

thanks very much,
rjb

  wintv go
Posted by: briden - 2005-03-01, 05:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I think I got taken at the computer store. I purchased a new DVD-r drive last week. I wanted to transfer home videos to DVD. The sales person recomened the WinTV Go (190) to capure the video. I'd also like to set up my computer so I can use it like a PVR. I can't find any info on the 190.

It isn't listed as one of supported capture cards. Will it work.

  robotic sound
Posted by: soccerdad - 2005-03-01, 05:48 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi, first of all, thanks sub for the great program and site!

I just updated to v0.90.10 and now my audio when I watch live tv from my pc sounds like a cheap robotic special effect (for lack of a better description). It sounds fine on my MediaMVP. I usually use the MVP so I can't be sure if this happened with the update. I have a PVR 150MCE card. Any ideas?

  LiveTV and other questions
Posted by: vladmen - 2005-03-01, 04:09 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I installed GBPVR last night and right away ran into a problem with Live TV not showing anything even though mpg file is created and grows rapidly. After the "Time Shift" message application just freezes and the only way out is to restart the service and kill the application.
The second question that I have is the mpg file grows really fast and takes 1G in about 90 seconds is that normal or something is wrong with compression.
And the third question is after killing application I'm not able to play created mpg file with any software that I have, so I'm not sure if file just gets corrupted because I kill an application or I don't have right software to play it.

Auto encode some shows for smartphone
Posted by: mrming - 2005-03-01, 03:31 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (20)

I've got my PVR setup working great using GBPVR (thanks sub!Wink, the Media MVP and a PVR350 card and now I want to take it to the next level.

I've got a windows smartphone, and I'd love to be able to create duplicates of certain shows in DivX format at a lower bitrate for playback on the phone.

I can do this manually if necessary, but if anyone can think of a clever way to do this after the show has finished recording I'd very grateful.

pvr150, the resolution is worse than my tv
Posted by: zaltech - 2005-03-01, 03:09 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

How do you improve the resolution that you get through the pvr 150 card?  The one I'm getting right now through the card seems to be lower quality than if I went through the TV.  Any suggestions?

Here's a picture, oh cripes the stupid yahoo briefcase isn't working properly, here's a link to the briefcase then that has the picture, the not_clear one is the one with the problem
yahoo briefcase that holds the picture

hope someone knows how to increase the sharpness, etc... to make it look better

Here's some details:
Digital Cable -> pvr 150 through the same type of cable that goes into the cable box (I don't know what that type of cable is called)

pc: p4 3.0 GHz, ASUS P4P800 Deluxe mother board, 512Megs of DDR (ddr pc-3200 CAS 2-3-3-6), Aslyum 5900 (128Meg card AGP),  saving all the recordings onto a Seagate SATA

one other thing to add to the mix, I got a response from another user on another board and he said "and are you recording at 480? Don't use 720 unless you've got an HDTV. It downscales to 480 and looks like crap." But would that be an issue when I'm using a LCD monitor (dell wide screen flat panel 20.1 " monitor)

Anyone want to buy PVR components?
Posted by: darrenferguson - 2005-03-01, 01:41 PM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Hi.

I'm selling up all my kit. I am UK based. Could ebay them, but i'd prefer them go to someone who is going to make use.

I have:

1x Redrat3 USB + CD drivers.
1x Hauppauge Media MVP + CD + Power + Scart + NIC cable.
1x Hauppauge WinTV USB 2 + CD + Power + Scart.

These items are not boxed. They are all used, but only 2 months old so in top condition.

If you are interested, send offers to df@darren-ferguson.com.
All transactions would be conducted via paypal.

Thanks.
Darren.
