  Testing Software
Posted by: inabsentia - 2005-02-22, 03:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi- first post on here, so please be gentle!!

I'm based in the UK and I've been a long time user of TV cards/capture devices on my PC-I currently have a Tevion Xpert pci card and a Skystar 2 satellite pci card running off my motorised dish set up-both of which I use succesfully to capture in MPEG2 and burn to DVD or playback via my video card's TV out function.

I've recently been giving some serious thought to building a dedicated PVR and came across this site/software from byopvr.com.

I'm trying several of the PVR programs out there, and I must admit, I like the look of this one, but from the list of supported cards, it seems it's not going to be compatible with my Tevion card?

When I build my PVR, my intention is to use a digital tuner card rather than an analogue one alongside my Skystar 2 card, but again , it appears that GB-PVR won't function with them-or am I missing something blindingly obvious?

So, am I barking up the wrong tree with this software, or am I actually in the right place??

Video Archiver cannot access network drives

I can't get video archiver to access movies on my network. I have tried adding the network directories but they don't show on screen. I have also tried adding windows shortcuts. ...any ideas?

  aut-update
Posted by: dottore - 2005-02-22, 01:22 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (30)

everyone is invited to discuss how this plugin should be implemented. reven and i thought of a database (this was revens idea) hosted by blader on the wiki (we'll have to ask him first).

every plugin-developer, skin-designer and maybe sub himself has access to this database to add/edit the information about the plugin/skin/core. the update-plugin takes gets the information, downloads the files and copies them to the target folders.

just post your ideas in this thread!

Does The Program Need To Be Open To Record?
Posted by: sidneysides - 2005-02-22, 12:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I am using GB-PVR with my MVP. If I've scheduled a recording, it works if I am running the MVP server. Does it work if neither the server or the GB-PVR program are running? Just wondering incase I've scheduled a recording and I forget to have the service running.

Thanks.

  BSOD upon playback
Posted by: Godfrey - 2005-02-22, 12:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Solve one problem, a worse one pops up...

I was having trouble with LiveTV; every ten seconds or so, it would pause for about half a second. Searching the forum here, I found suggestions of using the PowerDVD 5 MPEG-2 codec, which supports my hardware (VIA EPIA M10000 motherboard).

I upgraded to PowerDVD 6, and LiveTV plays back beautifully now (as long as there's no OSD)... unfortunately, if I try to play a recorded show (which had been working fine before), I get a black screen and no audio for about fifteen seconds, then a BSOD naming vtdisp.dll as the culprit.

Short of installing a PCI video card (which means removing the audio card, an unattractive prospect since my machine's primary purpose is as a portable DAW), is there any way to fix this?

  auto-update
Posted by: dottore - 2005-02-22, 11:16 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (11)

it would be nice to have an auto-update-function in gbpvr. not just for the main program but specially for the plugins. the my-series is updated very often for example.

the problem is, that the skins must be updated too, when there are skin-changes in the plugins....i don't know, how this problem could be solved. any ideas?

since this auto-update-function needs connection to the internet the installation of plugins could be made easier: just check the plugin you need and the configuration-program will perform a download of the plugin.

are there any ntl users who have the web working ok when accessed via internet?

  GBPVR crash when exiting LiveTV
Posted by: Gemini - 2005-02-22, 10:06 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hello all,

I have been testing GBPVR over the last week, installed the latest version (09010) and GBPVR crashes (not responding) when exiting liveTV. I use the Hauppage MPEG2 Decoder, Overlay Manager and a Hauppage Win-PVR 150 card.

I have tried all other MPEG2 Decoders that are possible, still installed on my system is the Mainconcept MPEG2 Decoder which I cannot remove.

PS. the crash only occurs when going a couple of times in and out the liveTV.

I use as well the Hauppage remote control (45-button Silver version) with the latest version of the IR-drivers/software.

My graphics card is a ATI Radeon 9550SE of MSI, processor a AMD Athlon XP1800 on a MSI motherboard with a VIA KT266A.

I have the graphics card connected to the TV using a S-VHS cable and using the S-VHS signal.

I use as well RealVNC.

I use everything on Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Can someone help me?

Kind regards,

Gemini

  My Music bug
Posted by: MaBo - 2005-02-22, 09:34 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi,
This weekend I noticed a minor, but anoying bug in my music. As soon as the elapsed time of a song exceeds 9:59, the first digit of say 12:34 is at the position of the minutes, the 2 at the seconds tens and the 3 at the seconds. THus the last digit is off-screen.

I know most pop-songs are not that long, but classical music and several interesting pop-songs (Mike Oldfield) are way over 10 minutes.

Greetz,
MaBo
