Hi All,
I encountered strange behaviour on cable reception and sound.

If I setup my source channels (eg. 80) as suggested by 'tuning assistent' everything seems to work, except from a bad reception on some channels.
I then entered the frequencies (eg. 16125000) in the recording source setup instead of the channels numbers. Now all the channels are crystal clear.
The strange things is that if I start the program for the first time, there will be no sound on any channel. If then i would change one of the channel from frequency (eg. 16125000) to a normal channel number (eg 80) and I go to live tv, this channel will 'activate' the sound and thereafter all other channels (still on a frequency mapping) will have sound as well.

The sound on all channels will even be there after restarting the program, but as soon as I restart windows, all sound dissapears and I need to tune into the one channel with the channel number (e.g. 80) to receive sound again.

It looks like some sort of initialisation.

anyone know how to get a WS dvd to fill the screen? (just the standard 1.77:1 aspect ratio not 2.25:1 (ill worry about those later)).

i have ffdshow to "no aspect ratio correct" "raw video - all supported", in gbpvr "use ffdshow is available". it can do it fine under zoomplayer. just trying to get it to fill the screen in gbpvr, i have gbpvr in "fullscreen mode" running hdtv at 576P (720x576). my tv is picking up the signal as a widescreen signal (which is a really good thing, since its a widescreen tv). just i get black bars on a normal ws dvd, when it should just fill the screen.

wasnt sure if i should put this under support, hardware, wishlist, blah blah blah. decided here is good enough.

anyone had success with dvd playback under gbpvr? i dont want to use zoomplayer since the hauppauge remote apparently doesnt work, and you have to pay for it.

Hi. i've currently got a Kworld Vstream Xpert DVBt PCI card and it doesn't have a hardware encoder. i've tried using it with gbpvr but it doesn't work.

is there any chance that gbpvr will support these soon?

if not, which digital tv cards are the more widely supported?

sub in the next release can you make it possible to skin the blue button screen (info screen). ive decided to fix the -noborder problem just to use it in fullscreen mode. i can skin everything so its visible except the info screen. the new live-guide (turns out i really love this, just missing the current time) maybe something like that, like variables like

and just two defined colours for the progress bar colours.

two different images so you can skin for recording and normal playback. the visible=&quot;true&quot; just helps if people dont want this to be displayed.

this is the last thing really that needs to be skinned, it shouldnt take that long, and would help alot with the overscan issue. i hope you can get this into the next release.

In the TV Guide the channel icons are approx 1:1.5 (height:width) but in the recordings window the icons are approx 1:1 so either ones are distorted (in my case the recording icons) as I've edited all my channel icons to 40x60 pixels. Could either (preferably recordings ) be changed?

ok in my videos currently it sorts the files as absolute filenames eg
D:\my videos\films\a.mpg
D:\my videos\films\b.mpg

now this usually isnt a problem, but with the .link files any directories specified in that file, its files will be added to the list, and with using absolute names the sorting isnt always alphabetical
eg
D:\my videos\films1\b.mpg
D:\my videos\films2\a.mpg

b is sorted before a.

now do you want it to sort via
(a) relative
ie &quot;a.mpg&quot; and &quot;b.mpg&quot;
or do you want it so you can tell which videos are in which dirs, and sort by
(b) absolute
ie &quot;D:\my videos\films1\b.mpg&quot; &quot;d:\my videos\films2\a.mpg&quot;

I just installed GB-PVR on top of Microsoft Media Center Edition 2005 aand I have a few questions before I dig too deep here.

1) How long is the rewind buffer? i.e.: Can I turn on the PVR and start watching, let's say, channel 13 at 9:00 AM. At 11:00 AM, I decide I want to go back to what was on at 9:00 AM and record that hour-long program. Can I do this just by rewinding back just over an hour - to any point in the 9-10 program - and hit Record and get just that whole one hour program to a recorded file?

2) I can't watch Live TV because when I try I get an error that it can't find hcwIRblast.dll. I have the MCE IR Blaster thingy hooked to my cable box... but I suppose I need something to tell the PVR that it should change the channel. I went to the Hauppage site and they mention something about a new IR Blaster, but there's nothing in the Accesories section where it says it is.

3) I understand I can but something to use as an Extender. I just sent back my two Linksys Extenders because I couldn't get it to play widescreen or 5.1 audio DVD's I had ripped. Can I with GB-PVR and it's extender?

4) How is the performance using the extender? With the Linksys box it seemed a bit slow in rewind, skip, and various other things - and I have a 2.4ghzx machine with a gig of ram.

I ahev a Sigma Design - REALmagic Hollywood® Plus card. would I be able to get that to work with GBPVR?

humm I started up gb-pvr and it reinistalled it self for some reason.. basicaly destroying itself in the process. nothing works . I uninstall and do everything clean.. then at somepoint it does it again . destroy it functionallity again..
by the way there seems to be a bug in the video libary if you highlight a movie to play then press play (instead of double click the icon) you can not navigate the file list any more with in the video libary, you can only navigate between play and menu.. this is by keyboard navigation

Okay here is what happened, I stopped all the services, zipped up the gbpvr directory. Put the MyVideo plugin in, had some issue with it so I decided to back it out, made sure the services and startups did not start, rebooted clean. Renamed the gbpvr and unzippped it, I noticed about 30 seconds from the end the Windows Installer popped up. After everything was done, started services. Went into GBPVR to make sure everything was okay and nothing.. No pendings, no records, no TV Guide. Looked in config.exe and everything (settings) are like the installation was new.

I'm thinking I'm hosed, I also think the problem I had was the config.xml, I think I screwed it up trying to edit the MyVideo plugin section, think the save as did it.

Luckily I didn't have a lot of pendings to be recorded.

If you can help salvage my wreck I welcome it. If you tell me how I can backup and restore in the future, well I'd _really_ like to know that one.
