  New event types

It would helpful (at least for me [Image: biggrin.gif] ) for plug-in and panel writers if GPVR raised events for the following:

* Recordings added to scheduled list
* Recordings removed from scheduled list
* Recording started (show name, start time, end time)
* Recording ended (show name, start time, end time)

* NetRadio station name
* NetRadio now playing track XXXX
* NetRadio music stopped

  Twinhan DVB Microsoft MPEG-2 Demultiplexer
Posted by: babybob - 2005-02-09, 03:52 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hello

I have a Twinhan DVB card and Im using the latest Twinhan WHQL BDA drivers.

They work fine with Showshifter, but when I come press "Map digital channels to EPG channels" an error appears saying

"The Microsoft MPEG-2 Demultiplexer does not seem to be available on your machine. BDA support will not work with out it"

Any idea what I need to install to fix it, as far as I can see the Microsoft MPEG-2 Demultiplexer is part of directx and I have the latest directx installed and WinXp and Windows Media player 10?

Thanks
Brian

Web interface broken after windows .net 1.1 update
Posted by: numatrix - 2005-02-09, 03:29 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

Last night I ran windows update and installed all of the updates available and I noticed one of them was for .Net. I'm not sure if this is related, but it's the only thing I can think of that I changed since the web interface broke. It was working yesterday prior to that update.

Now, whenever I visit the web interface, I get:

  Looking for DVD Quality Settings
Posted by: jwthirty - 2005-02-09, 02:45 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I recently moved from SAGETV to GBPVR. In Sage, there is a choice for 3gb-Hour DVD Quality. That is what I always recorded my shows at for burning to DVD.

GB-PVR Has a high setting. When I select that, it records a file that is about 2.6 GB, not 3.0 (or 2.95gb).

Does anyone know what the settings for 3gb per hour were in Sage, and how I can increase the quality on GBPVR?

  FusionHDTV & XCard
Posted by: magnu - 2005-02-09, 02:14 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi there

I am new to this software, so I'm not to sure if this has been covered already?

I am in Australia. I have both the Xcard & FusionHDTV DVB-T card from Dvico installed on my PC. I was pointed towards GB-PVR by another contact who has a similar setup, & who spoke highly of what the software does.

I'm looking to use both of my cards in much the same way as a set top box, as I have a DVD Recorder, & would prefer to use that, instead of the various pieces of equipment already in my PC.

I managed to get the right info from the person I spoke of earlier, as to setting up the bda.ini file to recognize the Dvico card, as well as the XMLTV settings for my region in Australia, however I've struck 2 problems.

First up, everything works fine in all the configuration settings, & I see all my local channels after running the setup (when you see the small window, with each channel displayed).
Yet, when I actually run the software & select TV Guide, although I can see all of the info on my TV (programme listings, etc.), when I tried to do anything to actually view a programme, I get this message:- I get the 'Failed to communicate with the GB-PVR Recording Service' message.

I read the various instructions in the FAQ on how to fix it, so I tried removing everything, then reinstalling, but it was still there. I also went as far as reinstalling .Net, prior to reinstalling the GB-PVR software. Bare in mind that, up to now, I still get as far as seeing my Programme listings, & so on.

I then reboot my PC, to see if that will help. I run Configuration again, & everything is fine. Now, when I actually run the software, it still can be seen on my TV, via the XCard, however, I no longer get any actual programme listings?

I haven't physically removed any software during this time, so it seems unlikely to be a problem with XMLTV (also, I still see the channels during configuration).

I'd really love to use this software, but I have no idea if I can get it working?
Any possible solutions?

  PVR350 vs 2-150&TV out vs 150/350/xcard?
Posted by: Networker - 2005-02-09, 01:19 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

Hey all.. Looking to expand or build a new box and put it downstairs in my rack. I currently am running a Shuttle XPC P4 2.0Ghz 512M, 40GB sys and 80GB video discs, of course DVD+-RW with a ATI 9550 and PVR150.

I'd like to be able to record two shows, watch 1 record another, /etc. I'm also very picky about my video quality and the WAF* and WUF* needs to be there too.

I'd like to know how GOOD is the passthru of the 350 to the TV and if anyone is using a 350/150 combo. Or I'd like to know more about 2 pvr150s and an Xcard or Video card with TV out.

With my current playing with the AT 9550 I cannot full screen the GBPVR on the TV only! If I could the quality seems good, no fast action testing yet. It seems, from what I've read around here the 350 and the Xcard seem to be the way to go and it would seem b/c of the HW decoder supported by GBPVR. And I'm guessing the XCard is PCI b/c of that reason, or is simply b/c they don't have an AGP Card?

So to wrap this up:

1 - 2 PVR 150s with TV out on video card - picture quality?
2 - 2 PVR 150s with Xcard - picture quality great?[Image: rock.gif]??
3 - 1 PVR 150 and 1 PVR 350 with output to TV - picture quality great???

It would seem to me the two 150s works well b/c there is only ONE drive to load..

Thanks !!!

John

  Problem Cancelling Recordings with v0.90
Posted by: adi2004 - 2005-02-09, 01:17 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I know 0.90 wasn't intended to be a proper release, but I thought I'd report aproblem with cancelling recordings that it seems to have (at least for me!Wink

Basically, it won't.  If I go into the pending recordings tab and cancel the entry it vanishes from the list but still records it anyway - even if I stop and restart the service or reboot.  This was not a problem with the previous version.

What's worse is that there is no way to cancel that recording when it does start - because it no longer appears in the list of pending entries!  In fact, as I write this, the machine is making a recording that I cancelled three hours ago, and I can't stop it.

Not sure what's happened but it does remind me of something that I've had on my wish list for a while.  Please could there be an option on the right click menu of the notification area icon to "Stop Recording"?

EDIT - Wait, it seems that Restart Recording Service from the right click menu has killed the job. Weird.

  Live-TV freezes computer
Posted by: lippo - 2005-02-09, 09:48 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

After reading a lot of topics I found that there were quite a lot of reports of systems freezing while watching live-tv.
According to Sub some problems were fixed in 0908, but my system keeps freezing while zapping through the channels.
My system is a compaq PIII-600 (SFF), 512MB Cas2 Dane-elec PC133 sdram, w2K with SP4, Hauppauge PVR-350 and a seagate Barracude IV 80 Gig harddrive.

I use NTFS on 2 partitions, a 8 gig boot, and a 72 gig for tv-buffer and recordings. Both are defragmented. swap is tried on both partitions (1024MB fixed).

The problem occurs when swapping fast (< 4 seconds) through channels. The computer totally freezes. Tried almost every possible setting (including the new ones). There are no messages in the log, that relate to the problem.

Hopefully we can use this topic to see if we can relate the problem to specific hardware/driver/setting.
