Having problems with 0.908 with my Nova-T 90002

Here's the background:

Win XP Home SP2
P4 1.7
512Mb Ram
Hauppauge Nova-T 90002 with the latest Hauppauge 1.3 drivers.

Clean install of GBPVR on this machine, never had gbpvr on it before as I don't have an analogue TV capture card.    Used to run gbpvr on my laptop to play mp3s throughmy MVP.

Installed ok.

In config, set BDA Recording Plug in, with correct region and transmitter in the Recording Source section.

EPG update ok with bleb.

After I hit Map digital channels to EPG channels button, first problem.

I get the warning box that I need to have the Cyberlink or Intervideo Mpeg2 Multiplexer filter installed.

Where can these codecs/filters be obtained from?  I have installed the MPEG codec from the Hauppauge support page for the 90002. This didn't help.  

Following other posts in the forum, I installed Cyberlink PowerDVD trial. That didn't seem to contain the filter I need either.

Need some guidance on that one.

Next, if I click past the warning and try to scan for channels, the scanning starts, then at the end, I get an unhandled exception. (See attached file for details)  

About 1 time in 20 the scan is successful, and I get three TV channels and about 6 radio channels.  (In the Hauppauge WinTV I get all the channels, both radio and TV)

I can then preview in the little window and assign these TV channels to EPG channels.

All ok(ish) so far, but when I start the app and try to view live TV, I get an "Error:Failure Playing Back File" message.  I also get a mpeg file on the HDD in the recordings folder, size 0 bytes

As I said, I've tried to find the codecs.  Need help on that one.
Can I not watch any TV at all without this codec issue sorted?

Will the codec issue be affecting my channel scan?
I've tried scanning All regions, All channels in the Capture source set up, but that never completes and I always get an unhandled exception. '0' is not a valid value for 'value'  If I continue past the exception, nothing works in the config app, so I have to quit and try again.

I've also tried a complete reinstall, with no improvement.

Don't want to bother people with a dumb problem, but I am out of ideas on this one, and I can't see any suggestions in the forum.

Can't wait to get it all working, cos it all looks soooo good!

Don't know if this is a good place to report it, but the software running the forum seems to have a bug in the "New Posts" display. I had entered a message earlier today that was earlier than the last time on page 1 but later than the first time on page 2. I went back to the Hardware forum and verified the time of my message. So it looks like the pagination of the forum has a bug.

GB-PVR is the first pvr program that just seems to work, but its missing some features. I do most of my TV watching while using my computer. I often just watch shows in a small window in the corner. I would like to be able to switch from fullscreen to windowed mode while watching live tv or a video. I would also like to customize the OSD behavior so that it does not react to mouse movements.

I'll also mention 'always on top' even though someone else recommended it. Right now I use a small utility called Powermenu that lets me select 'always on top' for any window.

Is there a way to schedule to record just the "first run" (new) show of a series instead of every single time it airs (reruns)? For example I have CSI scheduled to record as a series but it records not only the new show on thursday night but each daily show in syndicate. I just want to be able to record only the new shows of a series.

My results with it:
Very first time I move up or down or press enter on loading GB-PVR, it's instant. Then varies between 2-4 second delays and instant after that. This is not just changing screen, it's moving about menu's etc.

Anyone else?

I was fiddling around with "config" today while in the background the recording service was capturing a show. When I hit OK, I had forgotten that I was recording something and it shutdown the recording service and restarted it - overwriting what had already been captured with a fresh start.

Is there any way you can add a check to see if the recording service is working, and if so, notify the user? Don't worry about saving their settings until the recording is finished, just pop up a box that says something like:

"To apply these settings, the current recording must be terminated and restarted. You will lose any video that has been captured up to this point." [OK], [CANCEL].

That way I can hit cancel, and then just wait until it's done recording and apply the settings then. If you want to add support where you save the settings until recording finishes, then apply the settings and restart the service, great, but it's a lot of extra work. A little notification would be great though!

I just bought a PVR-150, and was playing around with it. I'm considering getting a MediaMVP for the living room.

There's a couple of features that are necessary for the wife to accept it (of course!).

I read somewhere that if you hit "record" while viewing LiveTV, it will only record that program until you stop viewing it in LiveTV. Is that true?

Also, any way to get the full guide overlayed (and transparent) while watching LiveTV?

Please consider this:

The web admin page would be far easier to navigate if the page was in frames so that the top of the page stayed put while you scrolled down through the schedule. Checking channel 74 through a few hours' worth is cumbersome. . . . Down, down, down, look, up, up, up, pull-down for time (or arrow over), down, down, down, look, up, up, up, etc.

All of that would be just arrow over.

Since midnight last night I've no listings in my TV Guide for any channel. The information is definitely in the database as I've checked manually, the TV guide on the web interface still works and my scheduled daily recordings are still being recorded.
I moved the database to my SQL server about a week ago (mainly to try and save memory and already had SQL server running for other stuff) and changed the DB connection string to use that, so maybe that's somehow related? I can't see any problems in any of the logs.

- added "Dont display current song information" (this will allow the screensaver to kick in on the MVP, however the current song name/album art and track position wont be displayed).

Ok ive done another major update to "My Music", it now uses a database to store all the tag information about the music files, also about any audio cd.  It first scans the file if not found in the database and then adds it to the database, and in case of a audio cd, when you enter the cd it will lookup the info from freedb.org and save that into the database.  A few files wont have the track duration available via the headers (also no audio cds will have this info, also no ape files), so whenever you play a song it will update the duration (since gbpvr learns this info when the song begins to play) in the database, so it will now show the duration, yay!  you must be in the my music plugin for the update to occur however.

I recommend you backup the old mymusicplugin.dll file, just incase i made a huge mistake and it doesnt work.  Also this version REQUIRES GBPVR 0.90x.  Since a few methods have been added, allowing you to select any song in the playlist and jump to that song (sadly the remove from playlist didnt make it into the gbpvr 0.908 so i have to wait for the next release before i can add this).

The database stuff, it uses the default gbpvr directory for most users C:\program files\devnz\gbpvr\music.mdb, if this is not your gbpvr directory, you can change the connection string in the configuration, under "Database settings".

Also under "Database Settings" theres a "Scan" option, this will scan all the elements listed in the virtual root and add the found music files to the database, i highly recommend you do this, otherwise it will be added the files as you browse aroung "my music".

The playlist now loads the tag information when it is needed, ie only loads the info as they are displayed, greatly improving speed for large playlists (still via the database, it was just taking to long to load them all at once).
