when there are 2 successive shows on the same channel gbpvr will record them with the same capture source, just start a new file without pre/post-padding.
i want to config gbpvr to use the next free capture source for the second show (with pre/post-padding for each show).
the reason ist, that i want to archive some shows and the channels in germany are not reliable with the start/end-times.

how can i config this?

I'm a new user, and I have to say I am very pleased with the program so far. Great job!

I freshly installed w2k (w/sp4 and windows update) and installed gbpvr. After installing it tries to bring up the config screen but I get a .net framework error. It says that my mdac isn't up to date. No problem; I just install mdac 2.8 and problem solved. However, the .net framework error dialog, of course, isn't "pretty." It could perhaps stymie a beginner who has no idea what mdac is.

My suggestion is to do an mdac check somewhere in the installation or when bringing up the config. That way it's a bit more user-friendly.

After a google search, Microsoft suggests looking this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DataAccess\FullInstallVer (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=301202)

It's just a string in the format 2.80.1022.3.

BTW, windows update installs .net framework, but not a newer version of mdac.

I have no idea on how many levels the forum accepts, but it would be very very convenient if each public and accepted plugin could have it's own sub category, to be able to run multiple threads at once.

As many of your know, I'm working on BDA support. I have preliminary BDA support working against my DVB-S card, but I require a few small tweaks for it to also work with DVB-T (and ATSC later).

I was wondering if someone has a working DVB-T device with BDA drivers installed and is willing to let me remotely connect (UltraVNC or similar) to try a couple of things in graphedit on your machine? Its just a quick check, will probably only take a few minutes.

Ideally I'm looking for someone with a decent speed internet connection and VMR9 compatible video card.

I've been pondering the thought of why I should record TV shows at higher than "low" quality. Think about it, low quality is 352 X 480. S-video quality is 480 X 480. Now if regular broadcast tv is only s-video resolution at best, why record at dvd quality? The only reason I can think of is so that you can author a dvd with "dvd" video. Which brings me to my next point. Does it really make sense to record a one hour show, author it for another hour and then burn it? I still haven't found a good/simplistic/simple program to save my 352x480 (half D1) video directly to dvd and add menu/chapters. Although I do have a quick remedy  I just burn the MPG's to DVD and play them back on my mvp using GB-PVR.

I'm having trouble using GBPVR to view either Live TV or recorded shows. Every time I attempt to do either, I get a GPF error and the app hangs.

I'm using a Hauppage WinTV USB2 device. The WinTV2K app from Hauppage works just fine. However, if I try to view the mpeg files directly using Window Media Player, that GPF's too. Other mpeg files created by other applications work fine.

Therefore, I suspect that there is something wrong the the mpeg files themselves.

Specs on the WMP GPF are:
AppName: wmplayer.exe
AppVer 10.0.0.3646
ModName: ivivideo.ax
ModVer: 2.8.21.0

GBPVR Version 23.13

I am using the drivers on the CD that came with the WinTV USB2 unit.

I've tried re-installing both the drivers and GBPVR. No luck.

Page Up/Down needs to be available on more screens, it's very inconvenient to have to wade through a long list without being able to jump page by page.

Also it would be nice when selecting Live TV to be able to enter the channel number you want to start on, ie: Hit Live TV, dialog box pops up for the start channel number (like 28, enter 28 enter or 28 OK), or just hit enter/OK again to start at the default channel.

Tivo announced a new system that lets you transfer recordings off of your tivo, and onto your computer. Might be mpeg2 format. So that could be an interesting plugin, one that can retrieve shows from your Tivo.

If my input is from my DVD player  (which uses SVideo out), then all is well. But from my Sky box (I've got an SCART to SVideo converter plug) the image is black & white, a bit grainy and the audio is distorted and warbly.
The results are identical in WinTV2000.
Any ideas?
