Hello altogether,
as a newbie in PVR stuff I´m currently searching the best PVR software for my purposes.

To decide which SW I will use (Got TV or GB PVR) I´d like to ask some questions :

1) I´m located in Germany and we do not have fixed frequencies for the different programs as our cable providers can decide which frequency they use for the different programs. Did I understand it right that the "Tuning Assistant" is a tool to help me ? How must I se it to have GB PVR properly configured ?

2) My EPG source do not include all channels that I can receive with my PVR350. Is that a problem ?
How do I configure these "not in EPG" channels in GB PVR ?

3) How Do I schedule recordings that will use one of these "not in EPG" channels ?

4) Can I use the Composite IN of the PVR as recording source ? How ?
Is it enough to configure 2 capture sources ? One with the tuner and one with the composite in as input and both on the PVR350 ?
Is there a detailled description how to do this ?

5) I have a pay-TV decoder and this decoder is connected to the Composite IN of the PVR350. Is it possible to have more than one channel name assigned to that input ?
What I´d like to have is that I have several channel names (e.g "PREMIERE START", "PREMIERE SPORT" and "PREMIERE 1&quot assigned all to the Composite IN.
This would help a lot to find recordings in the recording panel.

I already have 2 video capture cards, and don't need another. I was wondering if anyone knows of an FM tuner only card which GBPVR supports. I can't seem to find any FM only cards at all.

I'm one of your patient fans hoping you'll manage to find some time to get round to adding DVB support (Hauppage Nova-t). If it's on the horizon, I'd be happy to add to the fighting fund and I'm sure I wouldn't be alone.

This forum will used by developers to announce any cool stuff they'd like to share. Currently this information is spread through various forums, and generally difficult to find.

Having sorted out my aspect ratio problem I ran into another one. I was playing a file and when FF was pressed the screen went black with the stop symbol showing in the top right of the screen. A bit of playing around found it would only respond to two keys. If I restart it with the power key it can't refind the server until I restart it on the host computer. The other key was the "OK" key. When this was pressed it restarted another file at which point I could carry on as normal. The file that restarts appears to be whichever was the first file that was played when the MVP was restarted. Sometimes the file that restarts just goes straight to the black screen as well which necessitates a restart of the server. I am not sure if FF is the only command that prompts this. It also seems to relate to the files selected, I found one file that would do it every time but other files would be fine.

ok i really like the look and things you have for this pvr and plug-ins. is there any way i can use it for this conexant 2388x WDM driver my capture card has svideo and compesite. is there away for ur GB-PVR can recanicy it?

I am thinking of building a system around the shuttle Zen ST62k. Will GBPVR work on a direct x 8.0, I assume it will?

I have a Caller ID plugin about ready.  However, there are some gbpvr issues that need to be resolved before I can officially release it.  But there are a couple things you can do to get your system ready.

For those interested in trying this, you can go and get the YAC Caller ID program and get that setup and running on your network.  You can run the main YAC program either on your GBPVR box, or on another box on your network (so you don't have to have a modem in, or run a phone line to, your gbpvr box if you don't want to).  Test it out on the install machine and get it working nice.  Then when you get the CallerID plugin you just need to configure a 'listener' in YAC.  If YAC is running on the gbpvr box, you will create a listener to 'localhost'.  If it's on another box on your LAN, you set the listener to the IP of the gbpvr box.

By default, YAC (and the CallerID plugin) uses port 10629.  if this doesn't work for you, change it in YAC and in the CallerID plugin config.

That should be all there is to it!

Here is what it looks like now.  It will look better once sub fine tunes the method of plugins putting text on the screen.  Up until now, no one has really tried this method before

I can't create topics in 'getting started', so maybe there should be a forum to announce things like new plugins etc.

I'd like to be able to play music with winamp so I can control the playlist, change things quickly ect. So basicly I have a splitter that will let me loop what ever sound comes out of the computer back into the hauppauge card.

I know GB-PVR can let you see live tv on the MVP comming from the PVR's cable input on the computer, but can it also show you what's comming into the s-video or composit jack and the audio input? Or maybe there is some other work around?


Actually in the past I have also used a s-video cable to loop the video from my graphic card right into the PRV to record my self gaming. It's kind of funny, but the video quality is terriable.
