  Channel changing PVR250 vs. cable.
Posted by: scooby_doo - 2004-12-07, 04:54 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I need someone to tell me if I have this all correct in my head since all the hardware hasn't arrived yet. I just got my Hauppauge PVR 250 last night and got it installed along with the Hauppauge software and BG-PVR. My digital cable comes out of the cable box on channels 4 and 7 for different TVs. I haven't received my USB UIRT yet but I'm trying to play with some of this ahead of time. I configured GB-PVR to use the (currently nonexistent) USB UIRT for changing channels. When I go to the guide and select a channel (for instance, channel 24) it changes the tuner channel off of 7 and all I get is static. Is it smart enough to know the USB UIRT isn't there yet, or do I need to configure something else so that the PVR 250 stays on channel 7?

Knowing which input is in use
Posted by: SFX Group - 2004-12-07, 10:06 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have a question......

I am in the UK, have 1 x PVR350 (might increase this next year so you can see the reason for the question).

I have COMPOSITE used from my SKY box so has one input and SKY does the rest (no IR control yet). I download the channel guide from BLEB (I think its called as PVR isn't here with me).

I also have an internal Analogue tuner for 5 channels which I also use BLEB.

When I go to the guide and select a recording how do I know which input (COMPOSITE or TUNER) is coming from?

This same question will apply if I have more than one card as they will be all the same guides (BLEB)...

Many Thanks
Ashley

  Longer program description in EPG
Posted by: janviet - 2004-12-07, 09:36 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (10)

Hi sub,

Could you please allow for more than the current 256 characters per program description in the EPG? My EPG source tends to have rather long descriptions, which are currently cut off when imported in GB-PVR.

I guess this would require some scrolling mechanism in the popup that appears when selecting a program in the EPG.

Any plans of doing something with additional EPG data like category, director and actor?

Regards,

Jan

  No VMR9, VMR7, nor overlay?
Posted by: bestguy - 2004-12-07, 08:16 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hi, first off great software! It's really quite awesome.

Problem: I can't seem to get GB-PVR to work on my intended system. GB-PVR startup warns me that VMR9 and VMR7 are not supported on this system, and when I try to use overlay, the app just hangs forever.

It's an older laptop (3yrs old), which from reading other posts would normally just toss this up as an unfixable problem. However, since apps like WinTV2000, Windows Media Player, etc. play video perfectly on this system, I thought I'd post here to see if anyone had any insight on any possible solutions.

Specs:
PII 600MHz
512M RAM
8MB ATI Rage Mobility Pro with TV out
Hauppage WinTV-PVR USB2 (connected via USB2.0)
Windows 2000
DirectX 9c

Main questions I have are:

Would installing WinXP help?
Would/could a newer video card driver help?
Any other configuration settings I might try?

  error on web page
Posted by: anedjf - 2004-12-07, 04:07 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (14)

I just upgraded to the latest build, and on the web interface, from the local host, and remote hosts, I can reach the web site, but the images do not display, and when I log in, it says "error on page", and the details are:

Line: 12
Char: 5
Error: Object Expected
Code: 0
URL: http://localhost:7647/gbpvr/Login.aspx

Any ideas? I've tried restarting the service with no luck. I'll try a reboot in a moment.

netstat shows the service listening, and a few connections in TIME_WAIT from localhost.

I'm running XP Pro SP2, I've tried disabling the windows firewall and norton antivirus with no luck

THanks,
ANEDJF.

Play media files in associated player
Posted by: MrM - 2004-12-07, 12:40 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

Would it be possible to play media files in associated player in a future version of gbpvr? My poor EPIA M10000 can handle running gbpvr and windows media player withouth any problem, but whenever I try to watch a dvd or divx through gbpvr I get audio synch problem.

  Another OSD tweak suggestion
Posted by: Paulp33 - 2004-12-06, 11:11 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - No Replies

Love the new version but would like to make another suggestion on the OSD. Is it possible to make it disappear again with another press of the blue button rather than waiting for the automatic timout (and to make it disappear on the pause if you press the blue button). I assume that the whole screen being dimmed with the OSD is a necessary evil?

  Pan & scan through GBPVR?
Posted by: Paulp33 - 2004-12-06, 10:59 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (6)

With the Hauppauge software you can specify a 16:9 playback or 4:3 (a pan&scan or centrecut option) in the settings menu. How does GBPVR determine how to play the files back? Does it just use whatever was last specified in the Hauppauge software? I was playing with the new version of GBPVR last night and noticed that it seems to be showing the entire 16:9 frame (making everyone look tall and skinny) rather than the 4:3 centrecut which I had been using previously through the hauppauge software.

  Display files in music library
Posted by: xtoph - 2004-12-06, 10:13 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

Is there a chance that the MP3 files will be displayed like e.g. this?

----------------
filename.mp3
MP3 Album and Title
MP3 Artist
----------------
filename.mp3
MP3 Album and Title
MP3 Artist
[..]

My point is that MP3s without proper ID tags cannot be used properly. Neither can those with long names.

Regards
xtoph
