      Am a newbie to PVR,i am using Avermedia ultra tv PCI 350.Am not sure it is supported by gpvr.When ever i open up gpvr getting exception and it fails always.pls help or let me know whether it is worth playing with avermedia or to get a new supported capture cards.Any help is highly appreciated.

I have noticed the following behaviour in GBPVR version 02311:

When configuring the DVD Ripper plugin, one has to select the location for DVD Decrypter. This defaults to "C:\Program Files\...". The configuration program always displays the default, regardless of what is in config.xml.

I have my XP sitting on drive E:, thus had to change this setting to "E:\Program Files\DVD Decrypter\DVDDecrypter.exe". This is reflected in the config.xml and works (apart from sound :-( ) but the config program still shows "C:\Program Files\...".

Nothing serious, but IMHO worth fixing in the next release.

Where can i get the lastest release that works

I'm running v0.23.11 and playback of recorded shows is now working fine.  However, whenever I try to watch LiveTV, I always get unusual behavior.  Occasionally, it will drop out to the contacting servers, then jump pack into the TV schedule, but on the times where is does attempt to display the live TV, all I see is a black screen... I do see that the show is being captured to a file in my live TV buffer...

Here is the last snippet from the log just as it attempts to display (note: the log freezes at this point regardless of further navigation which is still possible):

P.S. I do believe the v0.23.11 is recovering from communication errors with the MediaMVP better in that it can often respond to the contacting servers and show the menu, where as before I would have to restart the server and the MediaMVP.

I have a Caller ID plugin about ready.  However, there are some gbpvr issues that need to be resolved before I can officially release it.  But there are a couple things you can do to get your system ready.

For those interested in trying this, you can go and get the YAC Caller ID program and get that setup and running on your network.  You can run the main YAC program either on your GBPVR box, or on another box on your network (so you don't have to have a modem in, or run a phone line to, your gbpvr box if you don't want to).  Test it out on the install machine and get it working nice.  Then when you get the CallerID plugin you just need to configure a 'listener' in YAC.  If YAC is running on the gbpvr box, you will create a listener to 'localhost'.  If it's on another box on your LAN, you set the listener to the IP of the gbpvr box.

By default, YAC (and the CallerID plugin) uses port 10629.  if this doesn't work for you, change it in YAC and in the CallerID plugin config.

That should be all there is to it!

Here is what it looks like now.  It will look better once sub fine tunes the method of plugins putting text on the screen.  Up until now, no one has really tried this method before.

Posted in the Developers Forum is a new version of the enhanced web admin that integrates better with the look and feel of the GBPVR web admin.

The only a couple changes:

1. Title box automatically checked for searches to being with.
2. Manage Recordings page now has the Quality Setting that the recording is scheduled to record at.
3. Michael Dickson took the time to skinn the new pages for the integrated look and feel.

That is all I can think of. No new features beyond this have been added. This has been tested on version 0.23.8 and version 0.23.11

Sub, I can't get gbpvr config to show the CallerID plugin so I can invoke its config form. What is the config app looking for? The dll is in the plugins directory, and it does get started when gbpvr starts. What am I missing?

I'm thinking it is looking for getName() in IMenuTask? If so, what do I do? I don't implement IMenuTask.

Anyone else using Girder with hopefully a firefly that could give me some pointers? Thanks
