  Web interface
Posted by: jsouza - 2004-10-29, 10:35 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (13)

How about the ability to delete recordings in the Manage Recordings tab of the web interface? I might know that my hard disk is practically full but there is a show that I just have to record. If I am at a remote location and only have access to the web interface, I will not be able to successfully record the new show unless I can delete some older ones to make room on the hard disk.

Help me build a stand alone box from scratch
Posted by: Cairo - 2004-10-29, 08:05 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

In talking with sub and others in the other thread, it seems there is a general concensus as to what a good system would be.

This will be my first PVR (but not my first built computer, I have lots of experience with that), so I'm putting this out there to see if anyone knows of a good hardware setup.

First a foremost, I'd like it to be mini-itx, or failing that as small as possible. This is going to be a stand alone box in a rack along with the stereo, video game consoles, etc. I plan to make it boot up to GB-PVR from startup so it goes right into 'Tivo' mode, since I will not be using the computer for anything but a PVR, and maybe some MP3 playing.

I don't really like the cube cases that are out there, and prefer a more standard desktop looking size. I'd like to be able to contain a 3.5" HD as I'd like to keep costs down.

Which brings me to my third and final condition. Since I'm only going to be using this as a PVR/MP3 player, I'd like to get away with the most cost-effective setup I can. I'm not concerned about games, or simultanious background programs running.

Based on what was said in the Via EPIA M series thread, what if i went with a mini-itx p4 board with a celeron 2.4 ghz and a pvr-350? Could i get away with less and have good performance? Any suggestions as to specific cases, boards, or setups?

Any input is much appreciated.

  New comics plugin available
Posted by: sub - 2004-10-29, 07:39 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (2)

Thanks to JasonF, we now have an updated Comics plugin available. This version now keeps the original aspect ratio of the cartoon, and added a zoom and pan feature to let someone enlarge a hard-to-read cartoon, like those sunday dilberts etc.

It also now uses a config file for the list of comics.

  Leadtek WinFast TV2000 XP Deluxe + MediaMVP = ?
Posted by: jomi9801 - 2004-10-29, 06:55 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (1)

I am really interested in buying a MediaMVP- but I don't want to have to buy another TV Card.

Will GB-PVR and MediaMVP work with my Leadtek WinFast TV2000 XP Deluxe? The card has worked flawlessly for me on my computer- but I would love to be able to watch everything in the comfort of my living room. Let me know and I'll buy a MediaMVP ASAP! ($84.99 w/shipping incl. {newegg.com - direct link}).

Link to TV Card: Leadtek WinFast TV2000 XP Deluxe.

Thanks,
-MikeJ

Grouping in the recording menu plugin
Posted by: jorm - 2004-10-29, 06:37 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (9)

I currently have developed a plugin that looks very similar to the recoring screen. You have ready, pending, reoccurring and videos.

The main difference between this plugin and the off the shelf recording logic (besides mine having more bugs) is that I will group the shows by name. Let us say you have the west wing and you have a bunch of them I will group them together and indicate the # of files in that folder.

I am also supporting locking a channel or a show thus requiring a 4 digit password code to access that folder (using the blue button). I also provide a means to export the programs information to a file which if present in the specified video directory (currently defined in the skin) I will group it in the same manner, providing the descriptions, channel, date and time.

Support for 24 hour mode is also in.

You can also delete a video.

Other ideas I might add if feedback is positive.

Editing a recording (change padding etc)
Archive recording to xvideo directory.
Suspending a reoccurring program and resuming it (so it stops recording for a period).

Sub is there a new type you can add that will just be ignored.

If you are interested in trying out this plugin send me a message with your email. I will send it to sub in a few days when more feedback comes in.

TV listings off by 1 hour
Posted by: askelhorne - 2004-10-29, 06:20 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I've set up GB-PVR with a Hauppauge 250 on an Athlon 850 and everything is working great except for the TV listings. Everything is off by an hour. I have not been able to find a setting in GB-PVR or zap2it where you can adjust the time. I have set my system time behind by an hour so that the TV listings show and record the correct programs, but the time is still off.
Has anybody encountered this before? I'm thinking that it may be because daylight saving time kicks in this weekend, I guess I'll see Sunday.

BTW, thanks for the great product.

  Playback overlay tints whole screen
Posted by: festus - 2004-10-29, 05:34 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (3)

When I am playing videos through the MVP, the overlay darkens the whole screen instead of just the information in the lower third. Is this an MVP software issue?

I have been slowly ramping up my install of GB-PVR for a while as I acquire new dedicated hardware. I have two tuners and a big disk now, and will probably be buying another MVP soon because everything seems to work so well toghther.

It makes me feel better and better that I could throw together such a great multi-tuner, whole-house, subscription-free, archivable solution from commodity hardware, never worrying about the new restrictions continually occurring with Tivo. Thanks again, Sub.

  custom backround image
Posted by: toyotaboy - 2004-10-29, 01:17 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

Is it possible to have an option for changing the backround image to whatever you want? It'd be cool to see the menu above a real picture (like a grassy hill, the beach, etc.). Even cooler would be if it supported formats more than just JPEG, perhaps animated gifs or animated PNG (MNG - Multiple-image Network Graphics) so that you could have a cool floating effect.

  shoutcast?
Posted by: toyotaboy - 2004-10-29, 12:51 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

I see there's some preset radio stations in the net radio button, but how about being able to add your own? Title it, then paste the streaming link in, and voila! your own custom list of net radio stations. Perhaps even a way to add XM or Sirrus to it for those that subscribe to the online version. There's a station that I love to listen to: http://www.energyarizonafm.com
