Posted by: berrick - 2004-10-20, 09:40 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

OK... had a quick look at GB-PVR last night and impressed with wot i seen BUT I DONT APPEAR TO BE ABLE TO GET THE HAUPPAUGE ir TO WORK WITH IT!!

So 1st question is how do you configure? how can i check?

and 2nd question, would i be better buying something like usb-uirt.

At the end of the day i hope to use my pronto to actually send the IR signal...

O! a 3rd question if i did use a uirt is it possible to power the PC on using something like wake on usb in the bios and a IR code??

Hi, is there a button on the Hauppauge remote to display the OSD? I can see it when I pause and when I skip, but I'd just like to know how far through the recording I am. Also, with .0227, its GREAT that while using comskip, it shows where it thinks the commercials are.

Anyway, I'd like to display the current time through the present playback with a button on the remote, is that possible?

thanks,
anedjf

  Comskip glitch
Posted by: chasef - 2004-10-20, 02:36 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (2)

For some reason, comskip only runs on the last file in a string of back-to-back recordings. And, sometimes (at what appears to be a random frequency) comskip will crash right before it finishes its work on the file. Any ideas? I am using the latest version (v.52).

Cannot get zap2it EPG or XMLTV
Posted by: vettejock99 - 2004-10-19, 10:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have used the zap2it web front-end for about a year. However, now I am trying to use the EPG and I keep getting errors. If I try in GB-PVR, it gives me an error saying it isn't configured correctly, even though it is simply a username and password login. If I use XMLTV grabber from the command line, I also get 403 error. I know my login is correct, and I even set up a second account from scratch and included the certificate code from GB-PVR and everything is still a no-go. However, I can use the web guides in a browser with the same login info. I am using Charter Cable in 90803 FWIW. Thanks for any help on this.

Mark

PS > No firewall blocking traffic on my side, either.  I am using tv_grab_na_dd and not tv_grab_na, and I can login to the labs.zap2it.com site with  the same credentials manually.

  WinTV GO not compatible?
Posted by: morthul - 2004-10-19, 09:15 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (1)

I just picked up a WinTV Go card and tried to install and run this but nothing happens when i start it. Is the card even compatible? If someone else is using it what settings are you using for gbpvr config?

  Comskip glitch
Posted by: chasef - 2004-10-19, 08:27 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

To whom it may concern, it seems that comskip will only run on the last file in a string of back-to-back recordings. Would someone verify this and if this is indeed the case, is there a remedy? Thanks!!

Use Via UniChrome instead of PVR350 TV-Out
Posted by: corpus - 2004-10-19, 08:04 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

because of the freeze problem with the PVR 350 if you use the TV-out, I try to use the TV out of the onboard card.
It is a VIA UniChome (VIA EPIA ME6000) it works, setting GBPVR to use software decoder, but it is very slow.

there should be a mpegII decoder in the ME6000, does it not work this way? do I something wrong?

  Wireless connection problems
Posted by: Oyml - 2004-10-19, 07:58 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

I was getting sick and tired of having to remember to shut down the Hauppauge service prior to starting up GB-PVR, and since I wasn't using it anyway, I just decided to uninstall it.

Since then, I can't get GB-PVR to load into my MVP. It is getting stuck at the "Loading Application" screen. To complicate matters, the MediaMVP is connected wirelessly (via a LinkSys game adapter to a LinkSys router). I have tried just about everything I can think of to get it to work to no avail.

On a whim, I reinstalled the Hauppauge software, and it loads without problem, so I don't think that the wireless connection is the problem. I also disabled the firewall, but that didn't fix anything either.

It appears that after the MVP connects and gets an IP address via DHCP, it starts to transfer data wirelessly, but then stops after a couple seconds and doesn't really get any further than that....

Any ideas why the application would fail to load?

Oyml

UPDATE: After having played around for awhile and reading some of the stuff on this forum, I finally got GB-PVR to load, although in a very round-about way. I had to start the MVP with the Hauppauge software, then start GB-PVR, then shut down the Hauppauge software, causing GB-PVR to show up on the MVP. Kind of a pain, but works just fine.

  networked drives?
Posted by: thisguy - 2004-10-19, 07:40 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

I have recently got my PVR up and running thanks in part to this site (I've read quite a bit before joining). I'm using to GB-PVR along with a PVR-250 and the MediaMVP. I have the GB-PVR software running on one computer that currently has two hard drive in it (that are both filling up quickly). Before I go out and buy a new hdd (external perhaps), I was wondering if it is possible to record to a network hard drive running on another computer. I tried last night with no success. The other computer has two drives as well, one contains the OS (both are Win XP), and the other is completely blank. I tried just typing in the path under directories as the recording destination, so it looked like this
\\othercomputer\d\videos

When that didn't work, I tried mapping the network drive on my main computer as the R drive
R:\videos

That didn't work either. Anyone have any experience with this? Has it worked and I'm screwing something up, or is it not supported?

Thanks,
Guy
