  Movie plugin question
Posted by: markm - 2004-09-29, 08:52 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (14)

I've been poking around the forums a bit, and I think I can do what I'd like with a custom plugin, but I'm not positive.

I'm looking for something like a merge between the IMDB plugin, and the built-in Video player capability. I want to use something like the IMDB plugin to browse the media collection, then once a movie is selected, hand it off to GB-PVR to play normally.

The built-in video module appears to lack any form of meta-data support for the videos, ie; descriptions, runtime, covers, etc. I like the OSD and the resume feature (especially the resume feature) though, and it's not clear if I'd have to code all the internally in the plug-in, or how I'd call the player from within the plugin.

If I can do this, I might have finally found my ideal package. I'd been using a custom written VB front end, but couldn't figure out how to do OSD on the xcard. I switched to Joveplayer, but that also lacks the metadata, resume function, and some other things.

It seems like I should be able to use GB-PVR as a base to add a custom plugin to that will allow me to navigate and view the metadata for my collection, and then hand it off to GB-PVR to play. If I have to code all the FF/RW/OSD/resume etc into the plugin, well, then I'm back to my standalone VB app [Image: sad.gif]

  Channel changing problem
Posted by: herbs - 2004-09-29, 08:34 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

I have an issue which staarted recently; when changing channels it instead of changing it goes back to the main menu screen, on the odd occasion it does change the channel once but change again and it goes back to the main screen. It doesn't matter if I go through the epg or the live view. Before when this happened I did an uninstall and then re-installed gbpvr and that worked for about a week or two. A repair install doesn't solve the problem, as you can understand doing a uninstall then re-install means I lose my season pass settings.
Tell me what logs I have post or email and I will do so.

Thanks in advance.

  Can't play some MP3s
Posted by: Bobins - 2004-09-29, 08:10 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Hi,
I've only recently discovered this excellent prog but have been struggling to understand a problem playing MP3s .

I've finally narrowed it down to the fact if the MP3 has an ID3 tag with no embedded album cover picture it plays fine. If the file contains an ID3 tag with a picture, nothing happens when you select the file. The same happens with the Jukebox plugin as well.

The suspect MP3s work fine in Music Match and Windows Media Player displaying the album picture thumbnail in both.

Should these files work or am I missing something? I can send an example file if needed.

Any help appreciated

  High Processor Usage with PVR350
Posted by: dbennett78 - 2004-09-29, 03:43 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I have tried both the SageTV Client and GBPVR recently. I have the PVR350 card in my system and when I use GBPVR the processor usage is really high and the computer gets bogged down badly and then stalls after trying to switch the channels a few times. Compared to SageTV which hardly uses my computer at all. I set the video output to hardware decoding-PVR350 and thought that would alleviate it, but it did not. Is there something I am missing in the setup?

  Hauppauge 250 and Xcard
Posted by: jdrietz - 2004-09-29, 02:58 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I recently purchased the 250, and my computer has 512MB Ram and a 800MHZ AMD processor, and will be used exclusively for PVR. Can I use the vid out on the 250, or do I need to have a Xcard with vid out?
