  Why seconds for the skip?
Posted by: Paulp33 - 2004-09-16, 10:03 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (5)

I was wondeing why the number press and skip works in seconds, why not minutes? ie at the moment you can type a number up to 999 and press forward or backward skip and it will skip that number of seconds. I assume it is for ad skipping? Why not make this minutes so it becomes a useful way of navigating to a particular point in a file? It will still be useful for ad skipping, at least here in Australia it would as you cannot prdict to any more accurate than a minute how long an ad break will last (the stations seem to have adopted a strategy of randomising the lengths of ad breaks, presumably to frustrate ad skippers).

  Strange PVR350 SVideo problem
Posted by: chrisw - 2004-09-16, 08:57 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (13)

Pretty simple.

After a reboot my picture comes out as black and white from the SVideo channel on the PVR350.

Removing/Changing/Adding the device back into GBPVR does not change it from black and white.

Run WinTV2000 and it sees the picture in colour on SVideo1, from here on in GBPVR works in colour.

All I can imagine is that WinTV2000 (The Hauppauge software) is setting up the card differently.

Sub I'm happy to do more testing if you want.

pps. Forget about blue screen of death crashing the machine, little fingers do a much better job....

Regards
Chris

  Net Radio prob (newbie question?)
Posted by: tschak - 2004-09-16, 07:26 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Being a newbie trying to set up GB-PVR (v0.21.4) part by part... but when clicking on the Net Radio button in the main menu I get just an error message:

*****
Error: Key cannot be null
Parameter name: key
*****

Haven't been playing around with this part yet, so what has happened?
And more important: how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

  DVD still freezes
Posted by: arttext - 2004-09-16, 06:56 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Finally the last glitch:
I thought I had figured it out but apparently I didn't.
My DVD decoder is the X-card.
When I click on DVD in GB-PVR menu I get a black screen and GB-PVR freezes.
With a VCD/SVCD it says "media not found" or something like that.
Config points to the x-card and in config. xml the player (DSmile is configured correctly.
When I play the same disc (either dvd or vcd) with Xmedia (front end of the X-card) it plays allright. [Image: wow.gif] [Image: wow.gif]
Anyone any suggestions?

cheers,
arttext

  Restarting MVP service
Posted by: colin - 2004-09-16, 05:13 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (2)

Hey Sub,

how do you restart this service now? if i add or remove plugins these are not seen until this service is restarted. Restarting the recording service does not solve it - actually hitting exit on the MVP menu restarted the service, but i had removed the "Exit" button on this,

cheers,
Colin.

  Import/Export recording tool
Posted by: jorm - 2004-09-16, 05:01 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

I wrote a little tool if you want to export the recordings information from one machine's database and import it in to someone else's database.

If there is any interest in this I will send it to sub to post.

This can be useful if you want to send a recording from one machine to another. I have a C# xml driven ftp client that can be used to script that as well. It is not fully tested but does appear to work.

  Video and music library enhancments
Posted by: delley - 2004-09-16, 01:31 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Hi,

Just installed GBPVR yesterday and here is a list of things that I missed of functionality (or maybe I just don't know how to make it work [Image: biggrin.gif] )

1. Adding a "cover" picture to your movie recordings

2. Adding Covers to mp3 albums. I usually organise my mp3's with a directory for each album. A suggestion would be to have an jpg or gif file with the name "cover" that GBPVR would automatically load as cover.

3. In music library it could be nice to configure the amount of directories/albums to display per page. Just like google have how many results you would like to display per page.

4. Search function in Music library

5. DVD menu controls. I tried to play a DVD and could not get the player to skip to next chapter, pause, stop, resume, etc...

BTW: How do you configure remote buttons. Is it based on keyboard bindings or? In case of keyboard bindings, where are they defined?

Will be back with more [Image: laugh.gif]

PVR350 - horizontal line at bottom of TV screen
Posted by: Exirion - 2004-09-16, 12:59 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

When I watch TV using GB PVR on my PVR 350 TV-out, I see a white horizontal line at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes (depending on the TV channel) it's a bit flickering. When I use the TV-out of my onboard video, the problem is gone due to different margins and/or overscan.

Is there a way to adjust this on the PVR 350? The TV image is slightly too close to the top of the screen. Using MythTV and ivtv on Linux the problem does not exist, so I guess it must be controllable by software.

Any clue?
