tuning Channels on a pvr 250
Posted by: smokie - 2004-08-27, 09:15 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (6)

Hello,

How can I tune Channels on a pvr 250, I live in the Netherlands. I got the epg working. But when switch to live tv I get a tv window but no picture just noise and then when I want to go back to the main menu the program hangs.
I don't see a place where I can fill in frequencies for the different channels.
Wintv works fine and I used freqcopy but still no luck.
Can somebody plaese help me.

TIA,
Smokie

  Multi-Tuner problem
Posted by: cmills6 - 2004-08-27, 07:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Having a problem getting my Adaptec Videoh USB & Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe USB to co-exist.
Configured as follows
Adaptec Videoh - Capture Card #1 - Internal Tuner - XMLTV.
PCTV Deluxe - Capture Card #2 - Internal Tuner - XMLTV.
Both TV Tuners work on their own but if configured as above or vice versa i get the following error "cannot connect to GB-PVR Recording Service" when the Adaptec is busy recording & i try to view Live TV on the PCTV Deluxe.

Also use the telephone style alphabet
Posted by: MaBo - 2004-08-27, 07:36 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (3)

Sub,
The search tv-guide has helped me several times now. It has been a very good idea of yours to add this feature. But scrolling the alphabet takes some time and about 25 keypresses to get to the z (which is quite common in Dutch and German). It would be far easier to use the telephone-style input. Just press the "9" four times and you're at the z.

Is that feasible?

Greetz,
MaBo

  Memory leak in OSD interface?
Posted by: tankd0g - 2004-08-27, 12:43 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (10)

I have noticed if I leave the GBPVR on screen application open for a couple of days, when I try to play a recording the swap file goes crazy and I have to kill the program with task manager or wait up to 10 minutes for the video to start. Has anyone else noticed this? Also with the app open the HD seems to be accessed once every second even if I am only in the main menu doing nothing, is that normal?

Ok, so I'm all pumped to start using GB-PVR (first time install) with my MediaMVP but I can't get the new software running on the MVP. Each Time I reboot the MVP the old software loads up.

what am I not doing?

Thanks!

  BSOD and File Corruption problems
Posted by: tieke - 2004-08-26, 11:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Well, I have received my USB-UIRT (which works perfectly), so have been able to try gb-pvr out a bit more fully. I'm having two major problems, which I don't think are connected:

Corrupted program files:
In all the programs I set up to record over the last day or so, the program playback crashes after three or four minutes - whether it is played back via mvp (hauppauge or gb-pvr interfaces) or bsplayer.  The file size shows that the entire program is recorded, and it is sometimes possible to skip over the problem-causing section in Womble Mpeg. It is possible that this could be because my gb-pvr box is also my mail server, and the mail is checked every five minutes - some combination of the mail request/spam-pal/anti-virus combo required for this could be at fault.  I have turned them all off for now to see if that will help, but it isn't reallly a long-term solution.

BSOD:
Strangely enough, I suspect that the gb-pvr isn't too keen on "The Bill" - three out of the four occasions I have tried to record it, the entire win2000 computer has crashed with a BSOD after recording only around 3Mb of the show.  This happened with a quick record of the 7.30 and 8pm episodes on UKTV as well as twice with an attempted season pass of the 3.30/4am episodes.  Strangely enough, an attempt at the 11.30am/12pm episodes recorded OK, but were of course unwatchable after the first couple of minutes due to the previous error.

Any ideas? the machine I am running this on is only an old shuttle computer, with a 1MHz Celeron/256M of RAM, so I suppose I could look at replacing this with a newer machine, but I wouldn't have thought the recordings should have been so fragile.

I will do a few more tests, and will see if I get the same results with recordings scheduled via WinTV etc

cheers,

tieke

  PVR-360 Lockups and Motherboard Types
Posted by: lseats - 2004-08-26, 09:38 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (7)

I'm currently using a Gigabyte GA-7DXC Motherboard (AMD-761/ VIA 686B chipset) and I can't dispaly video with the hardware decoder at all with GB-PVR as it locks immediately.

I also have a Soyo Dragon Plus (VIA KT266A Chipset). Would it be worth swapping the Soyo baord into the machine or am I still likely to have the same problem?

The system is running well otherwise, so I hate to swap the motherboard if it is not likely to help.

  YPbPr output
Posted by: janviet - 2004-08-26, 09:26 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - No Replies

Hi,

I posted this already over at shspvr, but maybe some of you here are also interested in this...

This question has been raised before, but since I could not find an answer, I decided to give it a try: can the MediaMVP output YPbPr?

I connected three RCA connectors to a SCART connector and plugged them in the YPbPr inputs of my TV. I connected SCART pin 9 (green ground) and 11 (green) to Y, pin 5 (blue ground) and 7 (blue) to Pb and pin 13 (red ground) and 15 (red) to Pr. I enabled composite output (s-video's chrominance would interfere with pin 15) and... it worked! [Image: biggrin.gif]

So, the MediaMVP outputs YPbPr on the GBR (in this order) pins of its SCART connector when in composite video mode.

I did find that the resulting picture is a little too red. Alas, my TV doesn't allow me sufficient control to fix this. I'm thinking about putting two variable resistors in the Pb and Pr signal path to adjust this. If anyone has any hints on which values would be appropriate to give me a reasonable range to play with, please let me know.

I hope this information is of use to some of you.

Regards,

Jan

  Picture Plugin
Posted by: web_maven - 2004-08-26, 07:49 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I don't remember who put this together, but it works really well. Going through the Plugin I found a bug but some people may not think of it as a bug but a feature. When you zoom in on the picture and you scroll around the image then zoom out the image does not go back to center. I did not see in the text file if there is a button to reset this.

What would be cool to add is a slide show.

  Same Channels after tenth channel
Posted by: Dady - 2004-08-26, 07:36 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hi All,
I have a strange problem with channel settings: I have created a Capture Source (PWR 350) and I have added some channels. When I go to the Live Tv I can see first nine channels (that are differents), but from ten channel to twenth channel (for example) I can see ONLY THE SAME CHANNEL....

I am in Italy (Control panel>Regional Settings on Italy).

Can something help me??? I have tried freqcopy, too...

Thanks a lot!!
