  just a few problems
Posted by: meme - 2004-08-28, 01:12 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

Hi!
I have already tried a few releases of this piece of software and I must say that I am really impressed how far you have come with development. Actually the sofware is now really usable for me, since overscan adjustment of the gui was added (thanks sub!! [Image: biggrin.gif]).
Although I have managed to setup gbpvr quite nicely for my needs I still have a few probs:
- First, the new release should provide the possibility to change the rows displayed in the epg. Well don´t hit me for this question, but....I do not know where I can find the configuration options for the epg..???
- Second point is, that, since I am speaking german, I tried to change the GUI language to german with dottore´s file. But unfortunately the translation didn´t work out nicely for me because the german descriptions seem to be to long and thus are just cut off in the middle of the word. Is there a workaround for this issue?

Greetings, Meme

  Recording Organization
Posted by: kenny - 2004-08-28, 12:06 AM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

This may already be possible and I missed it,

BUT
I'd like the ability to classify my recordings

1. Shows specifically picked with the intention of watching asap.
2. Shows that I typically watch but want recorded incase I am not able to watch when broadcast
3. Shows that I setup to record so I'll have something to watch when there is nothing else to do.

Type #1 is only to be erased manually
Type #2 will be erased automatically after a given time
Type #3 will be erased based on any of several criteria (max directory size, time period, ??)

I can handle the creation of a task that can run periodically to do the cleanup
But I would like to be able to specify the type when I setup the recording.

This can either be by the selection of a specific directory
or
by a value in the recording database.

Any hope or would I be the only one to use something like this

GBPvr rocks

  Support for StreamZap remote?
Posted by: Cybermyd - 2004-08-27, 09:40 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

I guess this is more up to the StreamZap guys. Just wondered if it had been tested. If not I will post my results since it's a pretty decent product.

I have pointed them in your direction as well. Maybe in their next release...

  Where do you come from?!
Posted by: Cybermyd - 2004-08-27, 08:42 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Well, this is wonderful stuff! Congratulations.
I've been using MCE and XBMC and Beyond TV and Media Portal and Meedio and MyHTPC and some of my own software for over a year now and your stuff is as good or better than most!

Many kudos. I haven't even tried the PVR stuff yet (that's all at home) and I'm still very impressed. The interface is fast and simple ( although we'll have to see how it handles my big music library ). You've included some great plugins with the base package and some great extra ones for download. So far it's all easy-peasy.

Forgive my enthusiasm but it's just good to see something done right from the start. I don't think Media Portal or Meedio stand up to your product.

I'll be donating today. Thanks again.

  Recording Scene Selection
Posted by: jorm - 2004-08-27, 08:37 PM - Forum: Wishlist - No Replies

I was wondering if we can create a scene selection like DVD's for a recording maybe every 10 minutes or so, showing a screen shot. Probably not a bad plugin. I do not know how to play a mpeg (from code) nor extracting stills from there.

  Another wish from the Newby
Posted by: Coffeebean - 2004-08-27, 04:14 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (1)

I am new to this program so correct me if im wrong but i donot believe that this program has a few features that are available on some of the Linux based PVR's which would be really useful.

1. Automatic commercial detection and one button skip.
2. Automated transcoding of recorded programs into smaller Divx/Xvid files.
3. DVD transcoding and playback from ISO

These features would make this exceptionally promissing program into an indespencible piece of kit.

Thanks

  The Ultimate Plugin?
Posted by: Coffeebean - 2004-08-27, 02:27 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (19)

i have just found this program and have not had a chance to try it yet but it looks wicked! i have a suggestion for a plugin which i read about on the MythTV forum and think is a fantastic idea.

This plugin uses bit torrent protocols to contact other gbPVR users machines to see if they are going to record or have recorded a certian show. This would therefore allow for the resolution of recording conflicts for those with not enough capture cards.

For example i wanted to record the simpsons and CSI, which are both on at the same time but only have one capture card. Normally you would have to decide, however with this plugin my PVR rig could contact my mate "Bobs" PVR over the net and find out that he too is recording CSI. My PVR would then record the Simpsons and at the end of CSI download this recording from Bobs PVR.

I think that this would be one of the finest plugins available and would make GBPVR the most desrable windows based PVR around.

Thanks and keep up the good work

  GBPVR and Wakeup-On-Lan
Posted by: joecru - 2004-08-27, 01:22 PM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (67)

Hi Guys,

Is there any utilities available, that will let the MVP wakeup the Hibernating/Standbye GBPVR server. I have seen software thet will send a magic packet, but for this to work it needs to be two PCs.The MVP has a MAC address so there needs to be software installed on the GBPVR server, that listens for configured MAC address on the local network while the Server is in Hibernation/Stanbye Mode.

Joe

  Live TV won't show - PVR350 & MediaMPV
Posted by: TrevorW - 2004-08-27, 01:05 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

I have had some success in setting the software end up. I can get the TV Guide up, set recordings, record the correct channel and playback my recordings all fine, but I am struggling to make the Live TV feature work.

If I select the Live TV button on the MPV interface the screen changes to the last used channel and says "Buffering 0%" and then reverts back to the menu screen.

Can anyone throw some light on this? I have tried various settings and have searched without success for a manual of sorts so I don't end up asking dumb questions (this is the first of several! I am sorting issues one at a time.)

I have been using "Beyond TV" but this software is excellent. Well done to the author.

  dvd-control
Posted by: dottore - 2004-08-27, 12:31 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

hi, i have a few problems in dvd-playback:

i can't change the volume using the remote. it works in live-tv and in mpeg-playback (video-library) but not for dvd's. also, when i chose skip instead of fast forward in the configuration, the dvd-playback doesn't skip, it switches to fast forward.

can the decoder be a problem? i use cyberlinks decoder, which came with powerDVD. should i use another decoder? the hauppauge-decoder doesn't work, i can't chose it for dvd (only for live-tv and video-playback, because of my pvr250) and there is no other decoder installed.

another problem is the aspect ratio, but i mentioned it before, i think sub knows, what i mean ;-)

keept it up!
