Apologies if this is the wrong forum, but none of the others seemed more appropriate.
I've currently got an oldish PC I want to put to some use. I also have an old graphics card with TV out (Nvidia GF3).
So I'm missing software, that's where GB-PVR comes into play, obviously. And also need a tv card.
My question is, do I need the PVR350 for tv-out support, or can I use my graphics card's tv-out and get the cheaper PVR250? I assume I can do that manually (activating tv-out via graphics setup, then full-screening the application), but the idea is to have the box setup with autologin etc. and getting output on the TV without any keyboard interaction at all.
Wednesday nights, Simpsons @ 7:30, Malcolm in the Middle @ 8:00. If I tell GB-PVR to record The Simpsons, I then can't get it to record Malcolm; even though it lets me go through the motions, the space for Malcolm doesn't turn red, and if I go into the recordings section, Malcolm is not scheduled.
This only occurs if I select "Record Season (all episodes in this timeslot, this channel)".
If I select "Record Season (all episodes on this channel)" then it does work.
Also, I have a question: you know how you can specify pre and post-padding for a recording? What if I want to record say from 7:30 to 8:00 on TV2 and then from 8:00 to 8:30 on TV3? What will happen with the second recording? Will it remove the post-padding from the first recording and the pre-padding from the second (i.e. so the switch occurs exactly on the hour)? Or will it Record on TV2 until 8:02 (assuming I gave it 2 minutes of post-padding) and then switch to TV3?
The easiest way to get started is probably to download one of the plugins (comics?) and just start looking at how it works. If you're into VB.NET you may want to look at the original weather plugin source code.
I'm happy to answer any specific questions you may have.
I'm brand new to this DIY-PVR stuff but this software is great, makes it easy. I got everything up and running in a weekend, including building the PC from scatch. I have everything running at 99%, now that I offset my timezone to account for daylight savings.
My ONLY problem to date is playing back an AVI file in the video library. I have audio but only a black screen for video. I'm pretty sure that the problem is a video decoder somewhere, but, like I said I'm brand new to this stuff. If anyone could give me a little insight on where I might be able to set the proper decoder, also ideas on what the proper setting need to be would be greatly appreciated.
I would have gladly read the manual, but I couldn't really find one outside the quickstart guide.
I just got a WinTV PVR2 USB and was wondering how to get GB-PVR to work with the Hauppauge remote? I've tried a couple of settings in Capture Device, but haven't been able to get it to work.
I seem to recall reading (but not sure where) that the EPG will update automatically from Bleb(UK) providing Bleb(UK) is set up in the GB-PVR Configurator. Â This works very well indeed. Â I also note that there is the facility to manually update via the <edit recording source> tab in the Configurator. Â However I would like to be able to alter the time of the automatic update but cannot seem to find anything in any of the config/xml/ini files to change. Â Is is possible for a user to alter the update time in this way? Â If not perhaps could this be added as an option in the 'Bleb Configuration window"?
Thanks for the great program!
I'd like to stream Live365 MP3 streams to my MediaMVP via GB-PVR. Is this possible? I've tried using WinAmp to generate a .pls playlist of a station but GB-PVR either displays "...buffering" endlessly or displays "Failure connecting to station". Any help?
Thanks
1) when using the skip mode i sometimes get a screen freeze. The only way to resolve this is by reboot MVP and restart the MVP/GBPVR server program.
From reading the logs this is what I have found.

now the bit about   "An attempt was made to move the file pointer before the beginning of the file."
this was caused by pressing the skip button once and there was quite some time left of the film.
2) I'm using a PVR350 with medium record level. when reading the same log i noticed my file is known as mpeg1. I thought it should be mpeg2 ?
here that part of the log
