  MediaMVP
Posted by: mikeg22 - 2004-05-14, 07:50 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (5)

Like some other posters here I am considering using MediaMVP in conjunction with GB-PVR. As far as I understand it, MediaMVP just connects to your home network and can stream in video and music (to your TV, stereo) from another computer on the network with the MediaMVP software installed. I'm confused as to how this works with GB-PVR. I assumed the way this worked was that you would use GB-PVR on your computer to set up schedules for recording shows, the computer would record them into mpeg format, and you would use the MediaMVP to stream the mpeg video from your computer hard drive to your TV. Is this correct? I saw another post that seemed to say that you could use the GB-PVR interface instead of the MediaMVP interface...does this mean you can use the GB-PVR interface on your TV screen? How would this work? Could you use the MediaMVP remote on the GB-PVR interface?

  Specify custom task working directory
Posted by: MaBo - 2004-05-13, 08:25 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi sub,
Would it be possible to add a working directory option to custom tasks? For my teletext to xml conversion to work I need to specify the working directory. Up till now I used a windows shortcut icon. This week I tried to use a gbpvr custom task, but I cannot specify the working directory.

Another option would be to have gbpr point to a window shortcut..

Where does gbpvr store detail information
Posted by: MaBo - 2004-05-13, 08:18 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (2)

Hi sub,
gbpvr stores detail information about recordings taken from the program guide. Where does it store that?
The reason for my question is the following: I have a recording directory where all my recordings go. Sometimes I watch shortly after recording. Sometimes (for movies for instance) I record for when I feel like watching that movie. In that case I normally cut off the extra recording at the front and the back, cut out commercials etc. Then I save the stripped movie in a separate films directory. For children's programs I do the same etc.
But when I move the recording to another directory I lose the information from the epg.

The same holds when upgrading to a new version of gbpvr.

Is there a way to keep the extra information?

Greetz,
MaBo

  Changed windows font...
Posted by: MaBo - 2004-05-13, 08:12 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - No Replies

Hi,

As for the moment I don't have a monitor attached to my htpc, I'm using the TV as a monitor. For that to work, I increased the windows font size. However, now some gbpvr things (via both the pvr tv-out and the video card tv-out) use the larger font, some others don't. For instance the top buttons on the main menu are still the way they used to be, the lower ones (from plugins and custom tasks) use the larger fonts. Also the OSD and the recordings sub-menu use the larger font. This makes it better to read, however no two lines fit in the box for one recording. Also on the OSD the time display is out of alignment.

I must say the larger fonts increase readability, but the way it looks now is less apealing.

I use the red-sky skin and like it VERY much. I changed two things:
1. Decrease the vertical button spacing from 40 to 35 to accomodate more buttons.
2. Change the redish font color into grey. Red font on red background was sometimes hard to read.

BTW my eyes are in excellent order ;-)
Greetz,
MaBo

  Recording Format
Posted by: broadband412 - 2004-05-13, 05:06 AM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (2)

Hi, I would like to see the addition of more recording formats such as MPEG1, MPEG4, AVI/DIVX, and WMV. Just having another one would be nice to recording in another format that uses less space. Is this pisible to impliment? Thanks.

  Newbie Questions
Posted by: JRock - 2004-05-13, 03:33 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Just a couple of quick dumb questions:

1) Importing channel names from the *.xml file and they are not coming into the Config program. I can manually add channels and have them show up, but can't import the *.xml file. Looking the file over quickly, it looks ok to me without really investigating. Any ideas?

2) Is there any forseeable reason why this software wouldn't work with Hauppage's WinTv GO? Are the cards/chipsets completely different? Am I missing something completely obvious?

I've been trying out different PVR software and from what I've seen this looks to be the easiest and most feature friendly that I've seen. Keep up the good work!

  DVD Out on PVR350
Posted by: FilterGraph - 2004-05-12, 04:54 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (14)

I was looking at an application on SourceForge called MediaPortal. This application has all the DVD stuff needed to do DVD out on the 350PVR and is written in C#.Net. Anyone else have any comments on this? I have not yet tried it, but if it works, couldn't it be incorporated into GB-PVR?

  Possible to watch and record?
Posted by: Jack_GB - 2004-05-11, 08:21 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

I set up a recording from the guide, recording started, I then wanted to watch it as it recorded, but LiveTV gives
"No Capture-Source was available..."

If I go to Recording and select play for the show, nothing happens.

Im using a PVR-350, output currenty to PC.

Is it possible to watch and record?

  Question or two?
Posted by: herbs - 2004-05-11, 12:41 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi,
I have just installed gb-pvr and have my pvr250 set up which is fine and dandy. The issue I have is that I have UK listings with the normal 5 channels and a few extra freeview channels such as itv2, bbc3 etc which I can get through a set top box connected to the pvr 250, I would like to know if I can set gb pvr so the 1st 5 channels are picked up using the pvr 250 tuner and the other xmltv listing channels through the composite or svid, Is this possible?
I notice that gb-pvr is very slow on channel changing even though my pc specs are midrange (2ghz processor) yet on another 3rd party app with timeshift mode (always recording in the background) it takes less than a second to change channels, is this correct or do I have a configuration issue?
Thanks for taking the time to read this..

Hi My TV Guie doesn't seem to be updating. After I noticed that there were no more listings in the guide, I go into configuration and click on update epg but nothing seems to happen. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks.
