Playing DVD on MediaMVP using GB-PVR.
Posted by: danielhale - 2004-07-22, 12:34 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I've just bought a MVP and recently installed GB-PVR. On my Windows XP Pro PC I can view DVDs using GB-PVR, but I do not get the DVD option when I use GB-PVR MediaMVP Server and view it on the TV. Is it possible to view DVD "on the fly" using the MVP? Thanks.

Using PVR 350 TV out, GBPVR freezes
Posted by: gvram - 2004-07-21, 08:55 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (9)

Please help me with the final step of my PVR setup :

I have PVR 350, Very good new machine, Win XP Pro, latest drivers for PVR, Win2k installed.

1. When I had the GBPVR sending out to Software Decoder, it all works fine. But the moment I change it to PVR 350 and click on LiveTV, GB PVR freezes. I can see the menu and do other things, but cannot play video alone - not even the archive. Is this because of the nVedia chipset issue someone mentioned in the prev posts ? But I have the latest Motherboard and pretty confident that there is no chipset issue. I change it to Software decoder, it all works fine. But WinTV2k works fine with TV-out on PVR 350. Any idea ?

2. When I use TV out from my AGP graphics card ( instead of PVR350 TV OUT ), the image looks very bad because of low resolution of TV and I can see all ugly the WinXP desktop there. If I choose Sofware Decoder, how do I get the same quality as PVR 350 TV out while looking at GBPVR screen ?

3. unrelated but, How did you guys resolve GBPVR startup problem ? I put in GBPVR.exe as part of startup items ( after ir.exe ), but looks like it doesn't recognize pvr 350 Remote anymore. If I restart GBPVR, then it does. So help on startup sequence is appreciated.

For me, PVR350 TV out problem is more important as it freezes. I had to kill the process in TaskMgr. Please help.

thanks in advance

  NTL RF output channel
Posted by: New_bloke - 2004-07-21, 09:04 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Hi,

I've just started to look at this software and am extremely impressed so far! I am after some help connecting my Hauppauge win-pvr 350 to my ntl stb
At the moment, I am using the rf output on the stb to the rf input on the card. My question is, what setting should I use in the capture source, and more importantly, what channel should I use? Wintv2000 reports as channel 52, but when I use this in GB-pvr, I just get static.
All help and advice gratefully received!!

John

  SRVANY.exe
Posted by: Roald - 2004-07-21, 07:23 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (8)

Hi Sub,
In Windows its possible to make (almost) any application run as a service using srvany.exe. When i use it on gbpvr/mvp mode is shows an error in a log file:
===
21-7-2004 09:07:29.500 ERROR [2] It is invalid to show a modal dialog or form when the application is not running in UserInteractive mode. Specify the ServiceNotification or DefaultDesktopOnly style to display a notification from a service application.
21-7-2004 09:07:29.515 ERROR [2] at System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.ShowCore(IWin32Window owner, String text, String caption, MessageBoxButtons buttons, MessageBoxIcon icon, MessageBoxDefaultButton defaultButton, MessageBoxOptions options)
at System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show(String text)
at ak..ctor(String directPlayFileName, Boolean mvpMode)
at ak.Main(String[] args)
===

Can you check this out? It would be great if gbpvr can run as a service.

  Looking for some guinea pigs

I'm getting close to having the next release working, and intend to get it out next weekend...so, any volunteers to give it the once over?

It's not quite ready yet, but maybe tomorrow. I've included integration with Bleb for downloading listings, so a UK based user or two would be good.

Service GB_PVR Recording Service not found
Posted by: beara - 2004-07-20, 10:14 AM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

I seemed to have stalled on the install process. After running setup and getting the epg stuff in, when I exit the configuration settings I get a popup saying "restarting GB-PVR Recording Service - Please wait"

Then another dialogue box pops up telling me an unhandled exception took place - Service GB-PVR recording Service was not found on computer '.'.

I then get an option to either contine (hangs there not doing anything) or Quit (and the install then doesn't seem to have taken)

Any ideas where I'm going wrong? I'm running XP Pro with administrator rights.

Regards

Jules

  Dual tuners
Posted by: herbs - 2004-07-19, 10:16 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (4)

I have a pvr 250 and am thinking of getting a usb pvr2, does anyone have a similar setup?
I assume will I be able to record two programmes at the same time without to much of a problem is it just adding a second tuner to the set up in the configuration. How does gbpvr decide which tuner to use first?
Thanks in advance.

  PVR350:Presetting Colour/Brightness for Recording?
Posted by: Kneip - 2004-07-19, 04:54 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (1)

Hi all

Maybe this Question has been answered, but I couldn't find it elsewhere:

I am using GB-PVR with a Hauppauge PVR350 for timeshifting/recording. The PC is attached to a 16:9 TV which is set to automatically rescale the picture. This only works when the black stripes are really black and don't show any movement.
Now, Recordings from GBPVR are way to bright compared to WinTV2000 so the rescaling does not work anymore. Is there a way to preset colour/brightness?

BTW, it does not matter how the recordings are replayed, either by GB-PVR itself or with an external application.

Thanks in advance

  Update time EPG
Posted by: DVDke - 2004-07-19, 12:47 PM - Forum: GB-PVR Support (legacy) - Replies (3)

Hey there,

I have a little question, is it possible to change the time where the epgupdate takes place (3am-4am) or is there a way to do it through the commandline so i can shedule it in the windowssheduler.  I'm asking this because I turn my pc off at night so it can't automatically update the epg during that fixed time.

Thx ad advance!

Greetzzz

PS:  The software is getting better and better, keep up the good work!
