GB-PVR is exactly what I have been looking for to set up my computer as a Media Centre having tried other programs with varying results. (SageTV, MyHTPC, GotTV, and Snapstream)
Set-up
Installed in the Study
Home built P4 1.7GHz with 512 Mb RAM and 2 HDDs (1x40Gb, 1x80Gb)
WinTV 350 card
Windows XP Home Edition with all current upgrades.
Pace analogue cable set top box. (ntl are required to supply an analogue signal to the set top box)
Cable broadband.
Installed in the lounge (20ft away)
Sony Digital TV
S-VHS and audio leads from WinTV 350 to TV
WinTV IR on extension lead
In order to use the cable analogue signal with thw WinTV 350 in place of an antenna, a CATV splitter is installed in the cable feed to supply signal to the set top box and the LAN card for broadband internet.
Direct cable feed to WinTV 350.
Cable source channels 21, 24, 27, 31, 35
I initially had problems with setting up the Live TV signal and recording any channel. I eventually realised that I was using a direct cable feed into the WinTV 350 card. It worked perfectly OK with WinTV 2000 but gave a terrible picture and sound, if at all, with GB-PVR.
Antenna feed to WinTV 350.
Antenna source channels 41, 43, 45, 47, 49
All channels displayed perfectly.
Antenna feed from the coax out on the cable set top box.
Antenna source channel 52
All channels displayed perfectly but channel changing requires to be done on the set top box. This makes it impossible to record on different channels automatically.
Did a quick search and couldn't find this mentioned anywhere.
Has anyone thought about creating a "Picture Gallery" function. Would be nice to allow visitors to browse our photos with the remote in front of the TV.
I have a Leaktek 2000XP card, and currently use their PVR software to record with.
I have just installed GB-PVR and am having some difficulty getting any channels displayed - I think the cause may be down to the configuration details:- I can only select Hauppage PVR350 and Sigma Designs X Card from the Hardware de-coder drop-down. I would expect to be able to select Leadtek 2000XP card from this list - is this correct?
I have a problem with my PVR-350 whereby the TV OUT output is marginally worse than the output of my Geforce MX440 card. It is slightly blurry, and looks likes its ghosting slightly. Any idea what I can do to fix this? It happens in both GB-PVR and SageTV. I am no where near the quality that my Telewest Digital Box puts out. I am using the composite on in and out, as well as PAL of course.
I was just wondering if anyone has tested this program with the MSI VOX TV Tuner (external USB). It looks excellent, but I am unsure what kind of chipset the tuner has, and am concerned about the program working with it. I currently do not have the MSI VOX, but it is on my wishlist (must be a USB tuner)!
Also, I am wondering if the OSD will work in the following situation:
I plan on using a Matrox Parhelia card, which can make any video on the primary monitor appear full screen on another. With this program, would the OSD display on the video source, or would I be out of luck here?

Hey All,
i'm looking for feedback/comments/help(?) on a vlc plugin. For those who do not know vlc, it allows streaming of various video types locally or across a LAN.
I'm wondering if its feasible through a plugin to have a vlc client which can read an mpeg stream and either via Sub's write/read methods (employed by live tv) or some other method be able to view them in GBPVR.
At this stage it would be an mpeg2 (ts or ps) stream which I think is viewable on the TVout of a PVR.
I am getting some recordings with distorted / overloaded audio on record.
I am using the PVR350 for the tuning & recording but I am not sure where the recording level is controlled from - it is not clear with WINTV or other apps either .
I am getting a audio loop caught when the restart/resume dialogue appears using the XCard for video & audio output.
Is there a way to mute the audio or stop it altogether when this dialogue appears ?
I'm trying to create a new skin, but I seem to have hit a problem. If you have plugins or custom tasks (say the very useful diskspace plugin) then on the main menu they just show up as the blue skin. How do I point to the button images I want. Is this something set in the skin.xml file ? if so could someone spare a few minutes to explain the structure with regard to button images and custom tasks.
If I am on totally the wrong track, please let me know.
