I use EPG Collector to source and create the xmltv file for NPVR to use and EMBY as my media server on Win10 pro (v1809).
I am trying to improve the number of TV Series and Movie poster images that are shown in EMBY and have discovered that if the Movie name supplied to NPVR contains the Production year eg "Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015)". NPVR fails to find a match and does not return a poster image and any extended metadata (Actors etc) - This causes about 30-40% of movie searches to fail. If I remove the prod year from the title, a match is found every time and the poster and metadata is downloaded as expected.
Using EPCGs Edit tab, I can remove everything enclosed in brackets and this works great, NPVR is then able to correctly search for and download 100% of movie posters. However this creates a new a problem - in that removing everything in brackets from the epg titles also removes things like (AU) and other bracketed info that is necessary to correctly identify some TV shows (Series etc) Scandal is such a one; the correct name for it to be identified properly on TVDB is "Scandal (2012)". So, removing the bracketed info results in none of these shows being identified thus no metadata or poster is downloaded.
Can NPVR's metedata search function be modified to ignore the Production Year when included in Brackets as part of a Movie title.
thanks
I've used NPVR for ever it seems and had no real problems. Just upgraded to the latest version and have what may or may not be a bug.
The EPG loads and updates fine but some channels will not open when dbl-clicked and asked to Watch, I just get a black window. (I'm using the inbuilt native viewer as always). If I type in another known working channel number while like that it crashes and has to be restarted.
If I load a known channel that always works (say 101) via the EPG then it is displayed correctly. If I then type in the channel number that didn't work above, it displays okay. Typing another channel in to that display will also load correctly.
I've attached a log (had to zip as too big and doesn't like .log files).
It starts from an NPVR restart. The problem with the black screen (C4+1, Ch 13) is at around 11:58:25-30 or so and then a while after it loads after typing in the channel no of 13. I didn't crash NPVR in this log but can if it's likely to log anything.

I have had wonderful success with using a web-style URL to schedule NextPVR recordings: "http://localhost:8866/services/service?method=recording.save&event_id=xxx". This schedules a single event very nicely. Nice, but limited.
Are there more components of this format that allows additional specifications such as pre-/post-padding, recording folder, recording frequency, etc? I have no success finding more info.
Since I added XNEWA/Kodi and NextPVR to an Android TV, I've been trying to find the control panel where you amend your signature; there are Edit options for a couple of things but I seem to have lost the ability (or forgotten) how to amend the other elements?
I've been testing with the Apple TV client and it seems to be working - except when in the Guide and I select Watch, nothing happens. Its thinking for a few seconds but then just drops back to the guide.
Using the web interface or windows Nextpvr app - everything works.
On the Apple TV app, if I select record instead of watch when in the guide, it does record.
Live TV works fine.....
I have restarted both the server and Apple TV , and same issue.
I have a Sony Bravia XBR49X90/900/9000F Android TV (depending where you live it is 90/900/9000).
Running XNEWA on KODI; Works fine except bringing up the OSD.
Remote has a blue button but that does not bring up the OSD :-(. Nor do any other colours.
Tried the "Button Remapper" App to map blue key to Alt-B but does not send key codes for Alt-B (blue key ok) it just captures "Alt"; contacted dev but he says cannot help.
I am running the latest NextPVr (4.2.3) on a Windows 10.
Using NCIS as an example, the problem I have is that when I choose an episode on Chanel 10 and choose Record - Record Season (All episodes on this channel) the second episode will highlight as red to indicate that it will record but not the first one, the actual one I chose.
I have done the same thing with NCIS episodes on 10 BOLD and some will be set to record and not others. I have also chosen all episodes on all channels and the same thing happens. I don't want to use this "all channels" option as I don't want to record the HD channels.
Quick Record does work to record the missing episodes.
I get similar problems if I use the NextPVR app on my iPad. I have enclosed the log file and an image showing the results of choosing all episodes on channel 10 and 10 BOLD.

I am thinking about making a new DVR. I call mine Divo. Itâs been 10 years and I am thinking either a top of the line new NUC mini or a Mac mini 2018. I am leaning towards the NUC for cost, but also wanted to ask if Optane would help NPVR or is it not worth it? Thanks!
