Thank you for you time.
I have 2 old Avermedia m791 cards in my windows 10 Pro machine that were working fine until MS updated October 8. Now nextpvr finds them, device manager says the drivers are installed.
Neither of them can find any channels. Channel scan returns a blank page. Cables are good, other devices receive signal. Nothing changed besides the MS update, that I know of.
Hello,
I recently bought a DVB-T/T2/C device, and I'd like to use it with NextPVR to watch unencrypted DVB-C channels.
The problem is that, since the device is mainly advertised as DVB-T, NextPVR detects it as such, even though it can watch DVB-C.
My question is, how can I force NextPVR to detect the device as DVB-C?
I have always used Western Digital drives. They seem to have gone down hill over the last several years.
When I built my PVR barely a year ago (ordered the parts on 9/25/17), I put two WDC drives in it, a 500 gig black for the OS and a 6 TB purple for recordings, both brand new. Both drives have already failed twice. I just received the second replacement for the 6 TB today. I was hoping that maybe they had a bad batch the first time around, but now I am wondering if I shouldn't switch brands. I used black drives in every computer I have built because they are performance drives and purple because the are built for surveillance systems (security cameras) and are supposed to be able to better handle the constant writing of large files.
The question is which brand. What brands does everybody else use? I was thinking Seagate.
I have copied my small collection of DVD's over to a hard drive. I am now in the process of importing these files into NextPVR. However sometimes the episodes are not listed correctly . For example the episodes for a particular show maybe out of order or there is an error in the information. What is the best way to remove these entries from the NextPVR database without deleting them as you would a recording.
Up until yesterday, if I had such an issue, I would just rename the folder these files are in and then open NextPVR verify the files are no longer in NextPVR and then close NextPVR and I was able to import them again after resolving the issue in the associated XML file. However, my hard drive for my OS crashed last night and had to be replace and the OS and all software reinstalled. Now even though these files are not visible in NextPVR they are still not being imported after renaming the folder then opening NextPVR as they were before. I have found that after exporting the recording database I am then able to import these files after correcting the errors.
Is exporting the database the best way to handle this or is their a better or more appropriate method?
I'm running the latest version (4.4.2). I have a 2 tuner HDHR Extend transcoding unit.
I've found an apparent bug that is consistently reproducible with the following steps:
1. Start a recording on channel 44.1 which occupies tuner #1
2. Try to play or record channel 44.2: The channel fails to load/record
Everything works fine if I view the channels when a recording is not active in the background. It also works fine if a recording is active in the background but I view another channel that does not start with 44.* (any channel with a different frequency).
If I remember correctly NPVR does not use the 2nd tuner under these circumstances, it's actually trying to re-use the 1st tuner to record both channels since they both share the same frequency (both start with 44.*). I suspect there is a bug with this code that tries to re-use the same tuner when H.264 transcoding is enabled. Disabling the transcoding on the HDHR does seem to correct the problem, but of course that's not an ideal solution for me.
So I just wanted to report this to make you (sub) aware of the situation. If it's not something that is fixable, is there a way that I can disable the feature where it tries to re-use tuners for the same frequency?

Hello everyone,
Is there anyone in the Chicago, IL USA area that uses NextPVR. I am looking to start a group of people who use NextPVR that want to get together to share their thoughts and past experiences.
Thank you,
Bruce
