Noticed that my Hauppauge remote was not working, then it was, then again it was not!
Turns out that if I start NextPVR with the green button on the remote, all remote buttons work fine. But if I start it from the device status button in the tray, the remote will not work. Most odd. I wondered if the green button was starting a different version of NextPVR but both ways show version 4.0.4 (171121) in settings...
NextPVR has been working really well for me in recent months, but I still had some weird issues described in other threads. So I eagerly installed the latest update today hoping it would fix those issues, but it unfortunately introduced some crashes I hadn't previously seen.
Specifically, if there are some moments of poor reception in the broadcast, NextPVR now has a high chance of crashing, instead of just freezing / processing for a second before it continues. Those same video files play back fine in VLC without crashes, instead just showing some video artifacts at those moments of poor reception.
I've collected and attached my logs. The crashes happened on two different videos:

I have been experiencing a problem w/ NPVR service for a few weeks. All my clients will work for a day, maybe two then they all fail.
I get the message in Kodi: "NextPvr client: Add-on could not be loaded. An unknown error has occurred."
I have clients on in three separate systems:
1) Windows 10 (kodi 17.6)
2) Pi (RASPBIAN STRETCH) (Kodi 17.5)
3) Nvidia Sheild. (kodi 17.6)
I am running the NPVR Service on Windows 10.
After some inspection I have found that the service is no longer running (image posted)
However it is still in the system tray. (image posted)
The NPVR "device status" show no tuners. (image posted)
The only log that jumps out at me is: "2017-11-20 07:27:59.729 [DEBUG][1] Parent appears to have exited. Host exiting."

After i start/restart the service everything works again... but not very long.
Yesterday and many other days over the past few months the recording service does not appear to start properly with windows. A reboot does the trick, but it is odd. I am thinking of doing a clean install, although my DVR PC is now almost 9 years old and I loath the idea of wiping it all to start again. Any help would be appreciated.
Two other issues, if I can find them in the logs I will start threads for each, is at times an error is thrown wile watching a recording and I have to restart the recording service or computer to fix it. Third, compskip will jump back to a previous point in a show usually in the last detected segment.
As usual, Microsoft's latest "update" has jacked-up something. I have NPVR installed on a Win10 PC that hosts a Fire TV running the SPMC branch of Kodi. After the update I can not get an NPVR connection. I am connecting to the host Win10 PC as I am able to watch any of the movies or tv shows stored on it. I just can't get NPVR to connect. I've restarted everything and confirmed my connection settings on the client side are correct.
There have been other reports of this but I could not find them ... so we have a new thread.
I get glitches in recording due to reception problem. Sometimes, playback of recordings starts to fast-forward "automatically" without any button press. I assume that the "fast-forwarding" is due to a glitch in the recording.
some shows... Teen Titans Go! and SpongeBob Squarepants are 2 episodes in the 1 recording time... my question to anyone that has run into this.. how do you break them apart to be able to set them into plex as 2 separate episodes?
I have a homerun prime device 3 tuner on a windows 10. Every Friday I have 2 tuners recording and then 3 tuners recording the next hour. When it activates all 3 tuners it just stops recording. I see in the recording section 5 shows recording and I know it crashed. I cant get any device info. If I try and delete a show I get a program error box. If I reboot it starts to record and fails again. It makes it appear that NPVR cannot support more then 2 tuners.
I know there is no hardware issues since I recently moved from Windows 7 WMC. Has anyone experienced the same issue?
Ok so I love what NextPVR has done...
I DVR stuff daily and this is going well... minor hiccups and nothing that is NextPVR's fault
so some shows record fine, mcebuddy pics the file up, renames - converts and places on my plex server.
An example is Teen Titans Go! ... Albeit the naming needs to be tweaked but that is in MCEBuddy (and someone on plex forums linked me to a good article I need to look at for naming files)
Some shows like SpongeBob and Power Nation's Xtreme 4x4 just get named title then date/time...
so a few things here... I just don't know how this works. NextPVR does the recording and names the file. Seems they always name by default but where does this EPG data get placed? how does MCEBuddy know by the file what season/episode it is?? always confused by that.
I am also curious how other people are doing it... are you doing a custom naming? If I play the spongebob episode and see the title, rename file and bing... mcebuddy can convert and rename just fine thus why I was thinking maybe custom naming???

here is xtreme off road that doesn't name correctly either. for SpongeBob I can get the title, figure out the season and episode.. but xtreme off road doesn't tell you..
