Extreme choppiness with 404's new TSreader
Posted by: 2leftfeet - 2017-07-23, 09:11 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Hi,

I just installed 404 and am having an issue out of the box ...

After installing 404 on a test client, I am getting heavy choppiness on both Audio & video trying to watch both LiveTV and recordings. However, no issues when "Use Legacy TSReader" box is checked.

The client logs show status both when legacy is checked and not checked.

Server is running 404.

note about the client logs npvr.1 & .2 are with the legacy box unchecked; npvr.log is with box checked. works fine in legacy, but not with new TSReader.

Any ideas?

  Webclient hangs when deleting recording
Posted by: BrettB - 2017-07-23, 02:50 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I installed 4.0.4 last night. I just finished watching a recording (on LibreElec X-NEWA webclient on an RPi 3) and hit the record button to delete the recording. The confirmation popup came up, I clicked OK, and it just hung. The webclient.log and web.log logs attached show the error 09:39.

  v4.0.4 (170723) new NextPVR Reader/Demux component inconsitent!!
Posted by: Bobbybear - 2017-07-23, 09:56 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

I run NPVR on a Desktop PC that I mainly use for video editing and a PVR used for watching video and TV.
I updated both machines yesterday to v4.0.4 (170723) and find that the Desktop (Windows 10 Pro x64 v1703 build 15063.483, Intel i7-4790K with 16 GB RAM and Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB for OS, plus various HDD's for storage. 2 x TBS 6281 DVB-T2/T Tuner cards and one TBS 6891 DVB-S/S2 card) works just fine!
The new NextPVR Reader/Demux component has really reduced the time taken to lock onto a channel signal and play a TV program in about 2 seconds for the first channel then about one second when changing channels, MPEG2 Video uses Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder and H.264 Video uses Cyberlink Video Decoder (PDVD13).

But the PVR will not work with the new NextPVR Reader/Demux component!!
The PVR (Windows 10 Home x64 build 15063, AMD FX-4100 Quad-Core, 8 GB RAM, Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB for OS, plus various HDD's for storage. one Hauppauge Win-TV-Nova-TD-500 DVB-T Tuner card and one TBS 6891 DVB-S/S2 card) takes 8 or 9 seconds to log onto a live TV channel plays about half a second of picture then there is only a black screen with audio playing. I have tried this with MPEG2 Video Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder and H.264 Video Cyberlink Video Decoder (PDVD13) and also LAV Decoders for both video types nothing seems to work.
If I go back to 'Use legacy NPVR TS Reader and Microsoft Demultiplexer' then it works as normal but the time taken to pickup and play a TV signal is back to 8/9 seconds and changing channel is also very slow (probably as it was before v4.0.4.

I don't really understand why one installation works and the other does not??
It cannot be the difference in TV tuner cards make as I disabled all the cards on both machines except the TBS 6891 DVB-S/S2 cards which are both the same and I still get the same result!

Attached logs from both Desktop that works OK and PVR which fails..
Bob.

Desktop app crashed & Post update issue with Live TV
Posted by: p37307 - 2017-07-22, 09:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

1st, Playback of recording works ok.
2nd, watching live TV from the Web NEWA modern works ok.
3rd, accessing live TV URL works ok. I tried http://library:8866/live?channel=45.2 in VLC (desktop 2.26 Umbrealla) and as an Online Channel in Serviio on Roku and VLC through Android.

I have the Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD 885, using the ATSC Tuner.

If I play two separate channels (5-2 on VLC and 19.1 on Roku or Android VLC) the 1ST live that started stops & the other one starts.

I can watch 5-2 on NEWA Web on Chrome and 19.1 on Android, Roku or Desktop & nothing gets cut off.

Live TV via the NPVR program. I get an error code

Code:
system.InvalidCastException: Specified cast is not valid.

4th, I Went to setting for about 5 minutes to look at my tuners for the above info then went I tried to close setting in the device tab by clicking cancel, NPVR crashed. The server stayed on & recording kept going. (In my logs it is One Day at a Time.S03E15.Ann's Secretary)

I went to setting again while I typed the last paragraph, canceled out & once again the Desktop NPVR crashed and I had to restart it.
I let it sit for a few more minutes open in the ABOUT tab and it setting closed without a crash. I let it sit & tried it from the device tab &it didn't crash.

5th, I miss the notification app because I could glance at it and If I knew something was supposed to be recording it would be red and I could use it to check Status. Please consider bringing it back.

Thanks for the Season folders.

Not sure if you need this but here are my Windows crash events. Iif you want the Windows .WER report for debugging, let me know.

  4.0.4 available (23rd July)
Posted by: sub - 2017-07-22, 05:10 PM - Forum: NextPVR Announcements - Replies (33)

You can download 4.0.4.171121 from http://www.nextpvr.com/NPVRSetup_4_0_4_171121.exe (EDIT: updated link to current build version)

Please post any support issues in the support forum. Support questions posted in this thread will be deleted.

One of the bigger changes in this release is the introduction of a new NextPVR Reader/Demux component, rather than relying on the Microsoft Demux. This is a fairly substantial change. If you have problems with playback in the new release, you can tick the 'use legacy TS reader and Microsoft demux' checkbox to get back to the old components. I'd appreciate users posting feedback on issues with the new reader though, including logs, so I have a chance to look into these issues. When reporting these issues, it'd be useful to know if it effects live tv or recording playback, or both, and what decoders you're using.

As always, a big 'thank you' to those guys that have helped out with the testing and with the development of the web app!

Quote:- new NextPVR demux, for better control of audio/video playback, and improved support for LAV Video Decoder etc. This also improves performances how quickly video/audio appear when changing channels, or skipping during playback.
- added support for North American style closed captions with H.264 channels and recordings.
- much improved IPTV support, particularly with .m3u8 streams. For testers, if you're a NZ user, try importing 'http://apsattv.com/kiwitv2.m3u' - sorry, these are mostly geo-locked, so wont work for other areas.
- failed IPTV recordings will now include a decent failure reason (to make it clear to user if stream was unavailable from their specified URL)
- when importing IPTV channels from an .m3u playlist, you now have the opportunity to specify a xmltv guide URL. It'll do the mappings for any channels where the m3u 'tvg-id' matches the xmltv channel id.
- improved web player, so that seeking etc is possible. (still pretty basic, but better than it was)
- added support for creating season directories while recording, so you get filenames paths like "C:\Recordings\CSI\Season 1\CSI.S01E01.Best Of Times.ts". This feature can be enabled on the Settings->Recordings screen.
- recording service wll now attempt to schedule an alternative recording of the same episode of any failed recordings, in scenarios like "recording service not running", "device failed to start", "zero bytes received from device". It'll prefer to use the same channel, but will fallback to others channel if the episode cant be found.
- if you add channels to a device, it'll now ask if you want to kick off an EPG Update
- added support for show artwork in xmltv
- added support for calling a PostLoadEPG.bat, just prior to scheduling the recurring recordings, allowing users to hook in EPG data manipulation prior to scheduling etc.
- now using DVB CRID for populating unique ID, to help reduce duplicate recordings for those using the DVB EPG
- removed 'update DVB EPG during live tv' setting
- using new TheTVDB API, so that artwork keeps working after the old API is turned off later this year
- updated version of json.net
- improvements to teletext and dvb subtitles.
- changes to playback graphs to use a single audio decoder and audio renderer, to avoid long standing issue where some users would get stuttering in live tv.
- now able to double click a DRI channel to change its type between MPEG2/H.264.
- QAM / DRI / HDHR screens now more clearly identifying which channels are MPEG2 vs H.264
- Picture Library now supports images that have been rotated 180 degrees (upside down). You may need to empty C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Thumbs to refresh already cached thumbnails.
- added support for mouse wheel tilt for moving left/right
- colored alt keys no longer generate default system beep when pressed
- now using friendly dates like 'yesterday' / 'today' / 'tomorrow' in most screens where dates need to be shown.
- new and improved SAT>IP device detection
- added Mute/UnMute context menu options.
- added ability to archive group of ready recordings, using new 'Archive' item in top menu
- added archive top level button in metadata screens (for use with Recordings screen)
- double clicking video during live tv or video playback will toggle fullscreen mode
- Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder now useable for HE-AAC and AAC.
- logging HDHR driver settings, to help identify selected 'Application' etc, since these are commonly asked support questions.
- updated NEWA - thanks UJB!
- fixed scenario where Micrsoft DTV-DVD video decoder would sometimes not hook up correctly for MPEG2.
- fixed issue that could cause the wrong aspect ratio for 4:3 channels in web and iOS applications.
- fixed issue that would cause plugins to not be loaded when using the 'Settings' shortcut from the tray app
- fixed issue where some analog tuners wouldn't start on the correct composite/svideo input until changing to another input and back
- fixed crash that could happen in 'bulk map' screen.
- fixed issue where channel could end up with no DVB EPG listings when multiple duplicate channels are transmitted on differ frequencies
- fixed issue where "Conflict Alternative Airing" recordings would ignore specified directory
- fixed issue that could occur at times with default show selection in TV Guide.
- fixed issue with movie rating info not being loaded correctly from Schedules Direct.
- fixed issue where back-to-back recordings would sometimes reflect the post-padding time as the end-time for the recording, even though it stopped writing to the file at the end of the show, and switched to another frequency (no padding)
- fixed issue that was stopping video playback in Edge browser.
- fixed issue with live tv timeline graphic beyond 30 minutes mark
- fixed issue with using AverMedia C985 HDMI capture devices.
- fixed a bug with pid mapping that could cause recordings to stop growing after second PMT update. (effecting HDHomeRUN via BDA, and SAT>IP devices). This may also fix the reason the HDHomeRun driver application needed to set to a profil other than 'NextPVR'.

Quote:- improved support for multi-program transport streams in the new reader
- added support for non 188-byte aligned transport streams
- misc reader/demux improvements
- fixed issue with aspect ratio not auto adjusting to match changes in the source content
- fixed issue where HE-AAC audio could get a popup telling them to select an AAC decoder, even though they already had

Quote:- added SAT>IP support for DVB-T and DVB-C tuners.
- further improvements and fixes to IPTV support
- fixed issue with auto aspect ratio not working with new reader.
- fixed a couple of issue with new reader (issue that could cause laggy/stuttery playback startup, and could fix double speed playback of some content with LAV Video Decoder)
- updated all New Zealand and UK DVB-T tuning files
- fixed issue where streams with AAC audio could get a popup telling them to select an AAC decoder, even though they already had and could heard audio.
- fixes to 'use alternate OSD with missing video' feature.
- fixed issue with Archive not working correctly with new Season folder names
- fixed issue with alternate airing recordings now honoring original target directory preference.
- fixed issue with aspect ratio on some H.264 channels
- fixed an issue with live tv buffer files getting left behind.
- showing 'original air date' for tv shows, and 'release year' for movies (for EPG souces with this info).
Quote:- the recently added double-click to toggle fullscreen mode is now able to be enabled on the Settings->Misc screen.
- fixed issue with live tv with new reader, for devices that deliver non-188-byte-aligned data, like the original HDPVR.
- fixed an issue that could cause video corruption on HD MPEG2 channels (due to large PES size overrunning a buffer)
- now reloads blaster settings each time you click a channel in the HDPVR setup screen, making it easier to edit the settings if you have a mixture of different blaster settings
- fixed tray connext menu "Settings" option when configured to start fullscreen.
- IPTV support now setting user agent to look like VLC, to get around some IPTV services rejecting requests
- improved playback of high bitrate MPEG2 with new reader/demux
- added support for some additional IPTV Provider's EPG urls.
- fixed issue that could happen with DXGI when toggling fullscreen when using Direct2D renderer (which could cause flickering, followed by unresponsive screen, due to DXGI attempting to handle Alt-Enter by itself)
- fixed issue where some BDA drivers would not report their signal locked/strength/quality values.
- fixed error messages in log from non-existent thetvdb artwork
- fixed issue with setting recording title on the 'manual recording' popup in live tv.
- fixed issue that could cause iOS app to take approx 40 seconds to start a channel.
- fixed issue that would cause only a single tuner to be listed for DVB-C/DVB-T SAT>IP servers
- minor visual and layout improvements in web app

  NPVR Won't Stream Video
Posted by: UnckDeCamp - 2017-07-22, 03:43 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

I am bumming.

NPVR won't work all of a sudden. I tried a full reinstall and changing decoders to LAV and nothing.

I have tried web stream and OSMC RasPi3 stream and no luck.

Could someone take a look at my attached logs and point me in the right direction?

Thanks so much,

Do failed recordings record at another time?
Posted by: paul67 - 2017-07-21, 05:51 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Hi,

I very rarely get failed recordings, but just wondering what happens if i do

If say i set The Big Bang Theory to record tonight and for whatever reason this fails, will NextPVR auto record this episode next time it airs without me having to do anything?

Thanks

  Put recording in season folders.
Posted by: p37307 - 2017-07-20, 02:34 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (8)

I'm making a wishlist request. I would wish that NPVR would automatically put TV shows in season folders.

The reasoning behind this is as seasons get large, having 100 or more recordings in a flat directory structure is time consuming as the folder loads.

The alternative would be manually doing it and importing the recording into the database to avoid duplicate recording schedules.

For example, suppose my recordings are on my hard drive and folder G:\_TVdir and my recurring recording directory rule is "Crime Drama."

For show recording CSI.S01E01.Best Of Times.ts NPVR would put the recording in folders:

Folder: CSI
Subfolder: Season 01
Filename: CSI.S01E01.Best Of Times.mp4
i.e. true Windows Path: G:\_TVdir\Crime Drama\CSI\Season 1\CSI.S01E01.Best Of Times.ts

Other examples would be
Original Recording Filename: Elementary.S01E22.Paint It Black.ts
Folder: Elementary
SubFolder: Season 01
Filename Elementary.S01E22.Paint It Black.ts
i.e. true Windows Path: G:\_TVdir\Crime Drama\Elementary\Season 02\Elementary.S01E22.Paint It Black.ts

Other examples would be
Recurring recording directory rule is "Donate Today".

Original Recording Filename: NextPVR.S01E01.Sub has done us all a great service by providing NPVR to us for free.ts
Folder: NextPVR

Thank you for the consideration and THE GREAT PROGRAM!

PS: In the interim, what would be the command to update the filename in the database if I used another program to sort my recordings.

I was given this command in the past to mark recording as first run:

Code:
"C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Scripts\utilities\sqlite3.exe" c:\Users\Public\NPVR\npvr.db3 "update scheduled_recording set blue='Y' where event_details like '%%<FirstRun>true</FirstRun>%%';"

I'm curious if there is a command that I could use to update the filename:
Code:
"C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Scripts\utilities\sqlite3.exe" c:\Users\Public\NPVR\npvr.db3 "update filename ???????????"

TV Guide only showing 3 days
Posted by: GaryJ73167 - 2017-07-20, 05:06 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

As my title reads, My TV guide only shows 3 days of programming

All other functions of NPVR work perfect. I am running the latest version of NPVR

Windows 10 machine

I am using schedules direct and I also verified that my XML file is showing 8 days as the default.

If I need more info than this to troubleshoot, just say the word and I will gladly provide it

Any ideas?
