  Unhandled Exception in most recent update when selecting TV Guide
Posted by: kevinsullivan - 2016-11-13, 08:13 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I just installed the most recent version. Now the TVGuide function is broken. When I click on the link, I get a null object exception. Here's the stack trace. Log files are attached as a zip. --Kevin

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

  EPG stopped auto updating? Works fine if I manually click the "Update EPG" button
Posted by: rjbeep - 2016-11-13, 06:41 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Hi folks,

Hadn't paid attention to my nextpvr setup for a little while and recently noticed the guide info had stopped updating. I have it configured to use an UpdateEPG.bat file that calls zap2xml with my login and password.

This worked great for many months and still works just fine if i manually go to nextpvr settings -> channels and then click the Update EPG button.

The problem is nextpvr will no longer do the updates on its own even though I have it scheduled in settings -> Misc2 -> "EPG Update Hour" and "Auto Update EPG" is checked.

Instead, I manually click the "Update EPG" button in the settings -> channels section and then the guide is current until the for the 7 or so days of data that were manually downloaded run out.

Since everything works just as expected when I manually "Update EPG" from within nextPVR, does anybody have any idea why the automated part just stopped working?

Unfortunately, I wasn't paying much attention to this for a while so I can't say for sure exactly when the automatic updates stopped working. It *may* have coincided with the updated from Windows 10 to the Windows 10 "anniversary" update a few months back. That's the only thing I can think of that changed on the system other than any updates of the nextPVR software itself.

Running presently;
Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.14393]
NextPVR 3.8.3 (160925)

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/suggestions. Appreciate the help.

  Can I Create a 4th Media Folder?
Posted by: bickertn - 2016-11-13, 04:01 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

I have a large number of home videos and another large folder of ripped movies. When I go to Settings > Media Folders, it appears my only choice is to point to both libraries within the VIDEO media folder. It seems to me that I would be better organized if I could create a 4th Media Folder for my MOVIES.
Is there a way to do this?
Let me know if/how I should be thinking about this differently.
Thanks,
Bob

[I have 2 shows scheduled on 11-15-2016 at 8PM and 9PM (NCIS and Bull) which are marked in the guide as new but are not scheduled to record.
[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]
I have them marked in recurring recordings as new shows but they are not showing up in the Pending recordings.

attached are the logs.

I emptied the EPG and re-downloaded using schedules direct. First time I have had this issue.

  Easy option to treat a failed recording as FAILED
Posted by: afeldspar - 2016-11-12, 12:20 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (4)

Okay, so this is a scenario that's happened to me multiple times with NextPVR:

1) Channel Foo says that Episode 4 of the series "Bar Bar" is going to air on November 1, and Episode 5 is going to air on November 8. I have a recurring recording set up, so I expect it's going to record both episodes.

2) Something happens, and "Bar Bar" doesn't air on November 1 after all. NextPVR still records something in that time slot, but it's not what I wanted. So I delete it.

3) November 8th comes around, and Channel Foo is airing Episode 4, the one that got postponed last week (the schedules have been corrected). I expect that my recurring recording is going to catch it, but IT DOESN'T. Because NextPVR has a record which says "Oh, we already recorded Episode 4! So he won't want us to record it AGAIN!"

Here's what would solve the problem (correct me if I'm wrong): An easy option to Delete a recording in such a way that NextPVR DOESN'T think "this episode is one we've already recorded." This could also be useful in cases where it wasn't a schedule change but just an unwatchable recording (the channel was having technical difficulties so what recorded was unwatchable, etc.) It doesn't seem like it should be that difficult!

  PCIe or USB ASTC Tuner?
Posted by: eastavin - 2016-11-11, 05:33 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (3)

Here is a hardware question that I need help with:

Assuming Windows 10 PC, a 2016 issue lower power drain Intel CPU (ex J3710 , Low end I3 or similar). Does anyone have any experience with the comparision of a Hauppauge USB Digital ATSC tuner versus say the Hauppauge Quad tuner while recording just 1 or 2 channels at a time? My interest is in the level of CPU loading and overall efficiency.

something in mind suggests that the Quad tuner being onboard in a pcie expansion slot will result in lower CPU usage versus the USB tuner approach that requires shuttling data into the PC over USB.

  ComSkip not Working for Me
Posted by: GWCowling323 - 2016-11-11, 11:15 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (23)

Took Martin's advice of adding one feature at a time. Extension of post-sports programs apparently worked on Sunday, so I added Comskip, but that didn't work. Will someone please take a look at my batch files and logs and provide advice?
